I definitely want to go to counseling but our insurance doesn't cover it, and it'snot something that we can afford on our own right now

oh I do my share of bonehead things too, but I apologize for them and I can admit when I've done something stupid. he can never ever ever admit that he's done something wrong or accept his share of blame for something.

that's good that he is complimenting you I personally think that our spouses/partners should be the first ones to compliment a loss. Even if it's not that much, even if they don't really see it. They are the ones that have whitness our struggle first hand and it would be awesome if they would acknowledge that the hard work was worth it

yes he is also obese

I have been out of work for three months and the other day I put on the jeans I was wearing to work and they were huge on me. My husband was in the room and I was like hey look at this. He said in a very flat voice, good job. That was the ONLY comment he's ever made about my weight loss
-
thanks and I hope you do too

I know a lot of people like pumpkin flavored things (I don't) but I've see recipes for a light pumpkin mouse or cheesecake. It involves mixing pumpkin pie filling with either light cool whip for a mouse or sugar free cheesecake flavored pudding for a cheesecake like dessert

I know everyone has their body issues. But if you're talking about someone who is naturally thin then from my experience they don't work at it, they're just skinny no matter what they eat. I have a naturally thin cousin, we went to college together and I had to stop having meals with her because it killed me to see her eat more than twice what I was eating. And I know she never exercised

Sleeve or bypasd
Sophie74656 replied to MrsForcier's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
From what I was told you can star trying to get pregnant about 18 months after surgery or once your weight has stabilized, as far as which surgery that's really between you and your surgeon. But I was told that the weight loss is pretty much the same with either but I chose the sleeve. First of all I didn't like the idea of with bypass that they leave your cut off stomach "flopping" around inside of you. I liked that they removed the portion of your stomach with the sleeve. Second, I liked that with the sleeve it gave you the option of eating better, you can eat mostly what you want just small portions (and of course stay with healthy foods) -
Sleep Apnea?
Sophie74656 replied to yerawizardamy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
all the doctors I spoke with said that with enough weight loss that apnea should clear up I keep asking my husband if mine is getting better but the man sleeps like the dead and can't give me an answer LOL -
One of my biggest pet peeves is when skinny people talk about dieting and how they need to loose weight. It's so annoying hearing someone who weighs 115 lbs saying "oh my god I'm so fat, I need to loose 5 lbs" One of my last jobs one of the supervisors there was so skinny, probably a double zero, and she would order the biggest greasiest lunch every day. She was always eating. She was a very nice person and a great supervisor but I kind of hated her

Unfortunately, full on food addicts can't do anything in moderation. The 'everything in moderation' thinking can sometimes get people into trouble. What happens when the restriction wanes and hunger returns (because down the road it does happen) and then there is nothing to help moderate things? People gain weight, that's what happens. Sometimes it's just best to abstain from certain trigger foods. Sad, but true. I don't t think that full on food addicts should have the surgery thenSooo with that logic full on heroin addicts shouldn't have suboxone or methadone? It's a tool as well. Not a miracle. It's hard work. Just like WLS. As Kurt Vonegut said and this posted on my wall in my office where I work as a social worker in a drug rehab facility: You were sick, but now you are well and there is work to be done. those would be tools to help deal with the addiction. Just like therapy would be a tool to help with food addiction. But these are different things. I had a food addiction before my surgery but I dealt with it through various methods and now my attitude towards food is different. I think while someone has a food addiction and are not treating it, surgery would not be successful for them
-
I completely agree, I had a food addiction before my surgery but that has changed for me. Once your food addiction is resolved then yes, have the surgery. But while you currently have a food addiction surgery would not be a good thing

i saw these in the grocery store today and bought a couple to try. I got the pomegranate acai blueberry and orange flavors to start with. Right now I'm drinking the pomegranate one and it's actually surprisingly good. It's not the best source of protein, it's only 12 g for the bottle, and the carbs are on the high side, but if you're like me and having trouble getting your protein in this could be helpful

My "last meal" went on for the whole weekend before my pre op diet. I kind of just ate whatever I wanted, sushi, pizza, chinese, junk food I still lost 50 lbs before surgery

I say everything in moderation if you want some soda, have a few sips, if you want a cookie have one but make sure you're staying within your calorie goal A nutritionist once told me that if you have a strong craving for something like lets say a cookie, you try to substitute with something else, you're probably going to eventually have that cookie anyway but now you've eaten that cookie and the substitute and had more calories than if you had just had the cookie to begin with and satisfied your craving.

as long as the fish is fresh it shouldn't smell or taste "fishy".

My love for Starbucks!
Sophie74656 replied to Nikkip35's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
the only thing I get at starbucks now are their refreshers. They are low calorie and delicious. I had a medium very berry one today, it was only 70 calories -
I am three weeks out and I'm finding that what I miss more than any specific food is carbonated drinks. Even just seltzer, I'm really missing that. I'm also really missing sushi What are you missing the most

I'm still looking for some Protein drink that I can tolerate enough to have a whole serving. I've heard a lot about the Isopure drinks so I went and got three different flavors to try. I got the blue raspberry, passion fruit, and apple melon. The blue raspberry and the passion fruit were HORRIBLE!! I tried mixing the blue raspberry with some blue Powerade like I saw some people here mention but that didn't help at all. Still terrible. I'm afraid to try the apple one at this point does anyone like these?

I ordered all of my pills online, and I keep them all in a little box next to my laptop where I can see them. That way I remember to take them
