I would highly recommend getting a nutri bullet. It helped me get the Protein shakes down to blend them with some ice, and then later on with some frozen fruit.

Pre op diet opinions
Sophie74656 replied to kdelrosso's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only had to do liquids post op but I found that what made it easier was a variety. There was a sale on premade soups so I bought several kinds and strained them out to just have the broth. -
Pre op diet opinions
Sophie74656 replied to kdelrosso's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yes, after a week or so I couldn't stomach the thought of another Protein shake. So my parents had just given me a bullet blender and I put it to use. half a bottle of vanilla Protein Shake, a couple ice cubes and a handful of frozen strawberries, made a pretty tasty strawberry shake/smoothie. Or some vanilla protein shake with some ice cubes and a bit of instant coffee made a tasty blended coffee drink -

ECHOCARDIOGRAM now needed after ekg this morning
Sophie74656 replied to Amy Wolfe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to have an echo after my ekg. They said my pulse was very fast so they wanted to check it out. My surgeon said that because this is basically elective surgery they check everything -
good luck to you on this journey!! are you doing sleeve or bypass. I had the sleeve, feel free to ask me any questions

everybody has different opinions on this. There are a ton of threads about different kinds of shakes. Some like the ready made ones, some like the powders, some don't like either. Try a couple of different ones and see what you like. Also if you are pre op be aware that many people experience a change after surgery, a shake that was tolerable before surgery becomes undrinkable for some after surgery

oh yes. Your body is healing and you're not taking in a lot of calories. I was very tired for weeks
-
I was simply told not to use them at first, that using a straw makes you take bigger gulps
-
a few weeks out I was using a straw. I do like drinking through a straw better

honestly I don't know how their nutrition stacks up, but they're a great price and pretty tasty.

the Quest bars are too expensive for me, over $2 a bar. I do like the ones that you can buy on this website http://store.bariatricpal.com/collections/protein-bars/products/bariatricpal-high-protein-bars-variety-pack#gs.myysIuU my favorites were the strawberry cheesecake and the Peanut Butter and jelly ones.

Has your Marriage Changed Since Surgery?
Sophie74656 replied to Half of Bri's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Our marriage wasn't affected by the surgery but rather by my weight gain. I got to the point where I hated myself so much I never wanted to leave the house and to be honest it affected our intimacy which I know was hard on him. But I'm down 120lbs and can walk more and I want to go out more now. Unfortunately he got used to me behaving like a hermit so now whenever I say I want to do things he doesn't really believe me I do wish he was more generous with the compliments. Sometimes I really have to beg for them. And one day after hearing him say how good one of our friends looked in a costume she wore for a musical they were both in I had to finally tell him that "I'm working so hard to loose weight, can you not talk about her like that, it really makes things harder for me" -
tuna mashed up with some avocado, and egg and with a squirt of sriracha mayo is still one of my favorite lunches. Though now I eat it in a hollowed out tomato

they actually met after him and I met. We had been dating for about a year when they met doing community theater.

Protein Shakes - Do I have to?
Sophie74656 replied to Jackiesleeved2015's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been able to drink these http://www.amazon.com/NuAquos-Sports-Drink-Peach-Mango/dp/B00NG7NRIQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1447912798&sr=1-1&keywords=Nuaquos+Protein they're not as nutritional as the shakes but its better than nothing. The pomegranite blueberry acai was tasty when slightly watered down -
New to all the things!
Sophie74656 replied to allenjf's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
it's definitely not easy, and not cheating. surgery is a TOOL for weight loss. You still have to watch what you eat and exercise. So there is still a lot of work that goes along with it good luck with your journey and whatever decision you come to. Personally I' had a great experience with the surgery. I had hit a moment of "rock bottom" with my weight and had a complete change in my thinking about food and weight loss pre op so now post op it's not as difficult for me as I feared it would be. if you have any questions feel free to send me a message. I had the sleeve by the way -
be careful with a phyical job so soon after surgery. You're probably goiing to be tempted to gulp your water if you're hot but be careful not to. When I had my surgery I made that mistake once. It was warm out and I could not quench my thirst with those tiny sips. Without thinking once I just chugged some water and it came back up like a fountain. Not fun
-
yeah, my surgery was sept 2. there were several days where I just sat and cried and I dont even know why. Actually I had a day like that on Monday. I was not feeling well and going through a moment of "why did I do this to myself" but those usually pass after a few hours and talking to someone you'll be ok, this place is great for support
-
Omg i had so many tests, I went to so many doctors. While it was unfortunate that I had lost my job I can't imagine having to schedule all those appointments around my working hours. I just kept reminding mysel that every test and every doctor visit was one step closer to the surgery I went to a psychiatrist, nutritionist, cardiologist, pulmonologist, ekg, chest xray, so many blood tests, hematologist, reumatologist....and probably a couple more I don't remember off the top of my head yeah isn't this the "easy" way out?

Thanks, the salmon is on sale so I'm going to get a good sized piece. Ceviche for today and the rest is going in the freezer

I'm on my way to the store to get some salmon for this recipe. What method do you use to thaw the salmon after it's been frozen for a week?
-
you'll do great!!! Good luck remember to walk
