What’s Your Approach to Holiday Weight Loss?
Sophie74656 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
the holidays are not a big deal. My life no longer revolves around food and I don't spend much time thinking about food anymore. So I don't dread the holidays or worry about them. Anyway, for me the holidays are only two days, thanksgiving, and christmas so it's just two meals...no big deal. -
I usually just get a cup of soup or chili, or an appetizer. I have found that if you don't order anything at all people notice and ask questions, so I make sure to order something

ask your nutritionist

I found that I didn't crave soda so much as just something carbonated. I drank lots of seltzer and flavored sparkling waters pre op and I miss those. -

Sophie74656 replied to amandasue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
it woks great for purees and crushing ice and basically anything you put in there -
bacon jerky is awesome. It's more moist than beef jerky and the bits of fat can be a bit chewy, but it tastes so good I got myself a box like this, I could eat one for a meal http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B9GUZP4?keywords=jerky%20jack%20links&qid=1448830250&ref_=sr_1_4&sr=8-4

Miss my diet pepsi :(
Sophie74656 replied to smcbee79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
honestly, I think soda is only bad for you if you're drinking gallons of it. A cup or two won't kill you Personally I only drink diet soda though -

I know you'r not supposed to but with things like chicken I do take a sip or two of water while I'm eating, it just helps it to slide down

What are you working on Pre-op?
Sophie74656 replied to 2goldengirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
preop I was trying to train myself to eat more slowly and take smaller bites and chew longer. I am over two months post op and still have problems sometimes with eating too fast -
Everyone uses different kinds. I suggest going on Amazon.com and looking at the prices there, they're usually pretty good.

how far out are you? Sleeve or bypass? what kind of food are you eating? for me different kinds of foods fill me up faster than others. For example if I'm having beef, three bites and I'm full. But sashimi I can eat way more of

Sophie74656 replied to smcbee79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
after a few weeks you should be able to have some. I drink a small bit of soda whenever I get the craving. If you really want the taste, take some and shake it up so the bubbles are gone and drink it that way -
Jerky is one of my favorite things. I started eating it at a month out when I was approved for any food

Sophie74656 replied to destiny_77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Check with your insurance, every company has different guidelines. Mine said that I could not gain weight pre op -
a few bites aren't going to affect you.
-
go with what your nutritionist says.

I'm sure its different for everyone. For me it was almost two weeks of sleeping in a recliner before I didn't feel pressure on my incisions when laying flat

What if I gain in the 6 month pre op?
Sophie74656 replied to samantha614's topic in Insurance & Financing
it completely depends on your insurance. Every company has different requirements. You should call your insurance company and find out exactly what your pre op requirements would be -

Why am I hungry?!?!
Sophie74656 replied to vsgbeccab's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think its just a reaction to not having any solid food. It's probably just head hunger. Once you're able to eat something that requires chewing you'll feel better -

Surgery in one week - nerves have kicked into overdrive!
Sophie74656 replied to lizziebeth72's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
of course! you're having surgery it's normal to be nervous, and you're about to make a major life change. I was nervous too, and a complete wreck, shaking and crying the day before my surgery. just think about how much weight you're going to loose and how good you'll feel when you've lost good luck!!
