I am being sleeved on 12/21/2015 – would it be a BAD idea to go the family Christmas get together? (They don’t know I am getting sleeved)
Sophie74656 replied to Scottyd1264's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
at 4 days post op the way I felt I would NOT go. I was not feeling terrible, but I was feeling like I just had major surgery 4 days ago. Don't forget that you are having major surgery, your body is going to be healing, you are going to be very tired.Just about everyone here can tell you, that you will be VERY weak for a while. If it was me I would say I was not feeling well and skip it -

Do colonics help you lose weight?

no, it removes today what would have come out of your body tomorrow. You're not really doing anything for yourself -
Post op food question.....Spicy and Sour
Sophie74656 replied to Nurse_Lenora's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It really depends on your body. Some people find they can tolerate it post op, some can't. I would say once you're cleared for all foods give it a try and see how it sits. I don't suck lemons, but I do suck on limes, and I loooove Franks hot sauce, I put that stuff on everything and I'm fine. The only thing I experience is that I have to have a little bit of something in my tummy before I enjoy a lime or the acid feels a little weird -

its one thing if that's what naturally happened for you, but I personally just find it odd for someone to want to loose so little weight on purpose -
They have 100 cAlorie muscle milk now, and it is very tasty...to me anyways i just tasted the 100 calorie muscle milk as well it actually has no sugar and its the best I've tasted. However its very expensive, it runs a little over $3.00 for 14 oz, any suggestions where to get it cheaper try amazon, walmart, Vitamin shoppe sometimes has coupons

some people like the clear Isopure some hate them. I couldn't stand them. your nutritionist should have told you ways to get in Protein. this early on you should be on liquids -

Prior Abdominal Surgery
Sophie74656 replied to Emma73538's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
oh man, first of all, I feel bad that you had to go through that as a child. I hope you are able to still have your surgery now I did have my gallbladder out about 12 years ago and that had no impact on my surgery -

I would just recommend to actually write out a list and bring it with you. I'm the kind of person who has a mental list going in but when I get there I forget half of what I wanted to say -

I will never eat straight before bed again!
Sophie74656 replied to BCs 1000's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
oh wow that sounds scary. I learned a similar way not to drink a lot before going to bed. I lay down and had what I thought would be just a hiccup...nope, had to change the sheets -
How long was t before the pain/discomfort went away?
Sophie74656 replied to ladee2279's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
everyone is different but my recovery was good. In the hospital I could get up and walk around with very little discomfort at home I camped out in our recliner, going from sitting to standing, or standing to sitting put pressure on the incisions and that hurt some, especially the main incision. And laying flat put a lot of pressure the first week and a half or so so I slept in the recliner at a 45 degree angle. The biggest complaint I had was back pain and that lasted a month-ish. But I never had to take a single pain pill, not even a tylenol -
It's never too late to get back on track. I got myself some three ounce bowls to eat out of and it has helped a lot with my portions. And definately eat slowly. A lot of times I eat while doing something else like chrocheting....do a few stitches, take a bite. It has helped me eat slower and I get satisfied quicker without feeling too full

How sick am I really?
Sophie74656 replied to LadiSani's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hang in there! My ekg came back abnormal too and I had to go for an echo but that came back normal. Because it's basically elective surgery the surgeons are generally over cautions and check everything. Before my surgery I must have gone to a dozen different doctors. i'm sure you;ll be fine and will have the surgery. Personally I'm kind of glad I had to go through a lot of stuff pre op because it helps me stay on track. I keep thinking to myself, "I didn't go through all this hell to mess it up with bad choices now"
