My surgeon does not require a pre-op diet .......
Sophie74656 replied to GAHUNTER's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I didn't have a specific pre op diet. I was already on a high protein diet and was told to just continue that. No solids after noon the day before surgery and nothing after midnight -
Ugh I'm so sorry you have to deal with that. I can't stand when people say things like that. As if having this surgery was an easy thing

yeah most of my incisions are super tiny like 1/4 of an inch. The one above my belly button is a little bigger like 1/2 of an inch

I'm at the soft food & purée stage at 3 weeks, but I'm terrified to try an egg!
Sophie74656 replied to theladyslipper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Congrats. Glad to hear your recovery is going well -
Unless you have other issues not related to thw sleeve pregnancy post op is completely safe. I'm surprised your surgeon didnt go over this with you. It is recommended to wait about 18 months post op. My surgeon discusses this with me since as you loose weight it become easier to get pregnant. It was recommended to be on some kind of birth control since a pregnancy durring the weight loss phase could be dangerous

I'm surprised to hear that people had staples with their sleeve. I didn't have any. I didnt even have any external stitches. Just a dab of glue on each incision

2 days postop... How did you feel?
Sophie74656 replied to BrightEyes42's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there it will get better -
It's very hard to stretch your sleeve. If you take in too much at once you will throw up before anything bad happens to your sleeve. Fuuny and gross story...a few days post op i was incredibly thirsty and the tiny sips were doing nothing to quench my thirst. One time without thinking i just started gulping Water like i would have pre op and, well, it came back up like a fountain. Never made that mistake again.

What, specifically, caused you to become obese?
Sophie74656 replied to careya123's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If anything will make a person fat, it's milk. Why do you think we give it to newborn babies that then almost double in size within a month!!! actually it's not recommended for neborns to have while cow's milk for the first year. The Protein in it is much harder to digest than breast milk or formula. And babies od any species frow tremendously in their first few months -
Post sleeve comfort foods -roll call!
Sophie74656 replied to Emilie.Lancaster's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
oh that looks so good! I do something similar but with russian style gravlax (which is raw salmon that has been rubbed down with a salt and sugar mixture and left to cure for three days. It retains the beautiful texture of raw salmon and only really gets a mild salty flavor) -

Post sleeve comfort foods -roll call!
Sophie74656 replied to Emilie.Lancaster's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My post op comfort foods are the same as they were pre op. I just have a tiny bit of it occasionally. My main comfort food, which is my favorite thing in the world is sushi. The only difference post op is that i no longer go to my favorite buffet and i only eat sashimi -
What, specifically, caused you to become obese?
Sophie74656 replied to careya123's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think one of the biggest factors was that I had a HUGE appetite. Growing up we would have our dinner and always wanted seconds after eating a porion just as big as my dad's and my parents would say i had enough. But i was not satisfied. So a couple times in the evening i would sneak back in the kitchen and sneak some food. Then i got older and got out on my own and had nobody watching me so i ate what i wanted...on the way to work i would stop and get some breakfast items. Then sometimes i woukd go out to lunch. Then driving home i would get something to munch. Thn i would come home and have dinner. Then snack in the evening. So its no wonder that my weight skyrocketed. -
Try adding some flavor to your water or get some sports drinks

After being overweight for all of my almost 33 years, my brain can't even process the concept of loosing too much weight
-
Just keep thinking about the end goal. Keep telling yourself it's only two weeks Also it helped me to have lots of sugar free ice pops during both the pre op and post op liquid phases

Depends on how far along you are. First couple of weeks it was tiny sips and only a few at a time. Now I'm almost 5 months out and i can do a few big gulps at a time

Oh to have that problem...

Movies, popcorn cravings...
Sophie74656 replied to 280journey's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
At 4 weeks i was cleared for all foods and at 5 weeks we went to see a movie. My husband and I shared a medium bucket of popcorn and a large iced tea. I happily munched the corn through the whole movie and had no issues at all with it -
What is "eating like crap" to you?
Sophie74656 replied to MzB's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Personally I don't consider anything crap. Since my surgery journey I've gained self control and have a good relationship with food. So if i want some junk food I can have a little bit and be happy. I can have a couple spoons of ice cream or a cookie or a handful of chips and feel happy and satisfied with that -
you don't have to give up sushi...just have sashimi. The goodness of the yummy fish without the empty filler of the rice
