If people ask me how I lost weight I just say I've been eating less...not a lie
-
Only my very immediate family and two close friends know I had surgery. I only wanted to tell people that I knew would be supportive. There is enough stress and difficulty without people being negative

I can offer you a virtual hug. I am just starting a divorce myself. My soon to be ex has also moved on. He's not dating anyone but he has made it clear that he stopped loving me a long time ago and told me he wants to date one of our friends. I kind of understand what you're feeling. If you want someone to talk to or just a virtual shoulder to cry on please feel free to message me

hey guys. My husband and I talked, and we are getting divorced. He was quite civil and nice about it when we talked about spliting our things. We don't own anything and don't have kids so I'm hoping the process will be smooth. Unfortunately we have to wait to file since it cost $300 just to file, and neither of us has that right now. Thankfully while I'm staying with my parents I only have a few bills to pay and no rent. But these last couple of weeks have been tough. I have no desire to do anything, no interest in my favorite tv shows, no energy, no real desire to eat, I just want to lay in bed with the cat. There are times when I just can't stop crying. I had a temp job for a week and a half and it was terrible. I did my best but my head was so not in it. I couldn't concentrate on anything and I was making stupid mistakes. But I did earn enough to pay my bills for the next two months. my biggest thought right now is that I will never find anyone else and I will die alone. I have always been very shy and introverted and I have social anxiety. So how can I meet someone? I met my husband online and I will sign up for online dating sites in the near future but I just can't imagine that I could get close to someone again. Plus, I have no idea how to date. I was 20 years old when I met my husband and we didn't really date. We fell right into a relationship and skipped that dating period. Plus with my sleeve, what are dates going to be like? Yeah if I date someone seriously they will know about it, but is that a first date conversation? Plus I'm so self conscious about my stomach. I have a very large skin apron hanging down that is quite visible when I wear pants unless I have a long shirt. I'm only a few month post op so surgery is a long way away if ever. just having a really hard time seeing a light at the end of this tunnel

Bachelorette Party in NOLA 2 months out
Sophie74656 replied to LollieC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have found that if you don't make a fuss and order something small and juat pick at it that nobody notices. People will notice if you have an empty plate or if you make a fuss. But just get an appetizer. Alcohol has never been an issue. I dont find it that hard not to drink. If there is social pressure to drink then get one drink and just nurse it all night, or get a drink without alcohol -
Im sorry that happened. But you can't blame online dating for that. That's just dating in general. The next guy will be better

I had my sleeve in early sept 2015. My starting weight was over 400. I am currently at 259. I try to stick to a high Protein diet but i eat anything. I don't shy away from carbs or sugar. I even have a stash of easter candy that i dip into every day. Last night i had two stufed Pasta shells with some sausage for dinner. Turkey cold cuts, cheese and crackers for lunch, and yogurt mixed with some Cereal for Breakfast. As a snack i had a reeses Peanut Butter egg

Gastric bypass or sleeve
Sophie74656 replied to pattyoj's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Oh there are so so so many threads about this. Overall both surgeries will help you loose lots of weight. Both surgeries will help resolve weight related issues like diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, PCOS, etc. I chose the sleeve and love it -
I don't buy girl scout cookies because the Keebler Elves make identical cookies for a fraction of the price all year long. I buy them occasionally and have no problem eating one cookie a day

I did some searching on the forums and didn't see too much on this I'm starting my first job since surgery and I'm trying to plan out what I can buy for lunches. I already made a bowl of tuna salad that I can portion out for a few days but I want to give myself a variety. I'm mainly looking for things I can bring with me in a cooler bag and I can neatly munch at my desk (I have a habit of working through my lunches) I really love these, they taste really good, have a good amount of Protein, and are a perfect size. But kind of expensive http://www.iheartthemart.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Hillshire-Snacking-Walmart.png

First meeting with surgeon and treatment team tomorrow
Sophie74656 replied to katanne's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had mine done in a place like this too. It was great. Everything was in one place and they helped schedule anything that needed to be done outside of them. They also said they would handle any possible appeals to my insurance. @@katanne, if you are in New Jersey I can very highly recommend my place to you -
Lets talk sausage....
Sophie74656 replied to Nurse_Lenora's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
you can still have pasta. I have it all the time. I have it with sauce, meat, sausage, meatballs...whatever I want -
I love nuts but I prefer not to eat them, I feel they are too many calories for the tiny amount. But I love pretty much all veggies.

Thank you everyone. You guys are awesome

first of all i want to say how great everyone here is and how supportive everyone has been with my previous posts. I have been staying with my parents for the past three weeks, and have pretty much made a permanent move here. I have most of my clothes, some other items and one of my cats here with me, and my amazing parents have bought me a bed and a mattress and I'm in their guest room. Basically while I've been here my panic attacks have gone away and I've generally been calmer and better. That's not to say I still am not getting depressed occasionally about the situation. But in the various conversations I've had with some friends and my parents I've decided that I'm going to be the one to initiate the divorce. I have realized that as far back as almost two years he had been incredibly disrespectful, unloving, unsopportive, and acted like he just hated being with me. So in the words of my dad, I'm going to stay here until I get my shit together or as long as I want, save up some money, keep loosing weight, and I will land someone a hundred times better for me. I'm going to a divorce seminar on Tuesday so I hope to find out how the process works and if we can do it with minimal lawyer involvement. I actually feel a lot better having made this decision
