Pregnant 8 months post op
Sophie74656 replied to MaDz Al Hammadi's topic in Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum
I understand the desire to have a baby. When my husband told me he didn't want kids it killed me. We often talked about having a family when we were dating. If i knew he didn't want kids i honestly wouldn't have married him. But now i feel like he stole my "baby years" from me. Im already in my 30s and i worry that by the time i meet someone else and get remarried (IF i get remarried) that i will be too old to have a baby -

Everyone is different of course and plenty of people have fine pregnancies post op. Having a baby was a big motivating factor for me to have surgery too (of course shortly after surgery my soon to be ex husband said he didn't want kids) I do have to ask, and I'm not trying tobe rude, butif you're so worried about malabsorption causing issues why try to get pregnant so soon post op against doctor recomendation? Pre-Op Diet.. ugh!
Sophie74656 replied to audaciousmarie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Don't waste your money
Sophie74656 replied to Soozern's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I kind of do this anyway. I'm not one to spend big bucks on clothes. I have never in my life owned a pair of jeans that cost more than $30 or a pair of shoes that cost more than $40. Even though plus size clothes tend to be super expensive I would always just search the clearance items and try to stack coupons. I don't get how people spend so much on clothes -

Help with protein shakes
Sophie74656 replied to shamale's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same problem...hated all my shakes post op. The best thing to do is to go to a nutritional store like the Vitamin Shoppe or GNC and buy a couple individual bottles of some different brands and try them and see what you liked I also liked mine better when I added somethings to them. vanilla shake with some ice cubes and decaf instant coffee is almost like a frappuccino....or a shake with some frozen fruit -
regular sugar. I don't use it much, mostly in my coffee.

I use regular mayo but a little bit. There is nothing IMO that can replace it

I didn't have any stitches, just some glue. The doc said I had a couple internal stitches in the main incision. I had very minimal pain, basically they were sore for a few days when I moved a certain way. It did hurt to sleep flat, so for about week I slept in my recliner at a 45 degree angle. For a few weeks I had back pain, it felt like when your muscles are really sore after a hard workout.

Hey guys. I just bought my tickets to the Star Trek convention in Cherry Hill NJ. It is in August and I was wondering if anyone here might be interested in going and maybe meeting up while there. Maybe have a meal together or something

Can a Icee stretch your pouch
Sophie74656 replied to Tmitch817's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
first....one drink won't stretch your pouch. Other people will probably tell you different, but I think that an occasional "cheat" is ok. I love icees and drink them all the time...though a small one it's actually quite difficult to stretch your pouch. If you had the sleeve they remove the stretchy part of your stomach -
Imitation crab meat

I am 8 months out. I have been eating it since about a month out -
Learned a lesson - don't eat too fast!
Sophie74656 replied to mom2wils's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yep...8 months post op and I still struggle to slow myself down while eating. When I'm at work I either eat at my desk and take a bit then do a bit of work, take a bite, etc..or if I go to the cafeteria I bring a book and take a bite after every page at home I try to put my fork/spoon down for a few seconds in between bites. -
i LOVE LOVE LOVE my bullet. It's strong enough that I can add ice cubes or frozen fruit and it pulverizes them. Immersion blenders don't do so well with those things but an immersion blender is good for pureeing Soups and stuff in a pot. I use one for making one of my favorite pureed cauliflower dishes

HELP! Sleeve vs RNY
Sophie74656 replied to cmcgonigal's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
this covers a lot for me the sleeve made more sense. I didn't think that I wanted to reroute my insides when just a smaller stomach works. I am super happy with my sleeve. I have lost 175 lbs with my sleeve and am 8 months post op -
Imitation crab meat
Sophie74656 replied to cutiek16's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
no problems at all. I made a great salad with some -
this is something only you and him can really discuss. You need to know what you want and you need to discuss it. If you both want different things it will make a long term relationship very difficult. My soon to be ex husband one day told me he didn't want to have kids. He knew I did. If I had known he didn't want to have any I never would have married him in the first place do you really not want kids or are you just afraid of gaining weight? if it's just the weight, pregnancy is a temporary condition you know

Sleeve holds 2 oz vs "I can drink a lot more than that" Questions and Confusion.
Sophie74656 replied to Beck90's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
what you're "allowed" to do might end up being very different than what your body can handle post op. Your insides will be swollen and confused, you won't feel your best, you most likely won't be able to have a whole shake in a sitting. Eight months post op I still can't.
