Boyfriend not supportive...feel lonely.
Sophie74656 replied to leliwhoaoh's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's important to have some support, but yes I've seen often that surgery can be a breaking point. You will have to change your lifestyle and he has to be supportive. I can't tell you what to do, except I can recommend that you voice your concerns to him. Maybe take him with you to some of your appointments -
for a dessert I've seen people take an ice cream cone, fill it with berries and a few chocolate chip, wrap in foil, and warm up on the grill. Looks good

Social Isolation
Sophie74656 replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
for me my weight lead to social isolation. I was embarassed of myself and walking around was difficult. I was also unemployed and my husband had emotionally left our marriage. So I would spend all day alone in the house...then all evening alone. My husband would come home from work and leave again for some rehersal or "gaming night"...sometime he wouldn't even come home in between. So I would spend day and night alone. I was in a deep depression and had nobody to turn to. My husband defiately didn't care. It was terrible -
i am 8 months post op and only have one regret that I didn't do this years ago. it is a major lifelong change and you need to be fully commited to it...but honestly for me it hasn't been super difficult. Some major adjustments but I find my thinking about food is different now. Yes I still obsess about food and think about it often, and still LOOOOVE food. I have lost 175 lbs since my sleeve in Sept 2015

Food items to have Post Op
Sophie74656 replied to sleeverv's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you should meet with a nutritionist and discuss what you can have post op. Every plan is different I was on liquids for two weeks, soft foods for two weeks, then all foods after that -
NJ has great food..and we're the diner capital of the world lol

How to Choose a Nutritionist
Sophie74656 replied to cseidman's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I went to a bariatric center and they had a nutritionist on staff. She was great -
sorry for the ranting again, just need to get it off my chest My soon to be ex husband is moving in with his parents in the summer so he is packing up our apartment. Every day I have been asking him what day he is free so I can come over to help and to get the rest of my stuff and he says he's busy. He has commitments to renaisance fair rehersal and he has gaming nights. He gets super mad if I tell him to skip one of those things he does for fun so he can do an adult thing like pack, or if I say I'm just going to go over when he's not there. One saturday evening he sends me a text that says I'm free right now come over and help...it was like 8 at night and I said no. So now he keeps giving me grief for not helping. The only reason I still want to help him pack is that I still have some things there that I want to take but more importantly in the few months that I have not been living here he has totally trashed that apartment. It is gross. I don't think he has cleaned the bathroom once since I left and there are piles of crap every where. I'm now worried that not only are we not going to get our deposit back but that we will get charges for damages and he is going to push that I pay half...which I will refuse to pay but its going to be such a pain in the butt I can't wait until this whole thing is over if anyone ever finds themselves in a similar situation...take a bunch of pictures before you leave. Right now I'm wishing I had taken pictures of the clean apartment when I moved out so he stops insisting that it was this bad when I left

Starting purées a day early
Sophie74656 replied to Freckles70's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I honestly don't think one day will kill you if you have a bite. But just because you're cleared for certain foods doesn't mean they will sit well. If you really want it take a small bite and see how it feels. if it's the first non liquid thing you will be eating I would suggest just a small spoonful or two. You don't know how your new tummy will handle it -

Another (soon to be ex) husband rant...sorry
Sophie74656 replied to Sophie74656's topic in The Lounge
thanks guys, I need to keep getting the kick in the butt. After 12 years with him I can't help but want to be nice to him. I know it needs to stop. I have everything I wanted except for 2 photo albums a crochet blanket my mom made and some dishes my grandma gave us that she brought from russia. But in the end I know these are just things...not worth my mental health over. -
OMG! Over half way to goal!
Sophie74656 replied to Nurse_Lenora's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
that's awesome!!! -
I still drink soda. I waited a month post op but now I drink it as much as I want. To start with, try getting some small bottles and shaking them up to get the bubbles out

Another (soon to be ex) husband rant...sorry
Sophie74656 replied to Sophie74656's topic in The Lounge
That's what I started doing. this week I told him I will be there on these days whether you are there or not -
talk to your surgeon and nutritionist about what you will be able to eat. Every plan is different I was cleared for all food at 4 weeks
-
these threads always are strange to me. After being significantly overwight my whole life my brain cannot process the concept of loosing too much weight or being too skinny
-
yes to the spoon thing. I bought myself a bunch of tiny dishes and baby spoon. It helped a lot. Take a bite and set your utensil down. If I am eating by myself I read a book while I eat. I read a page, take a bite. Or I do something else while I eat that will help me eat slower

Considering the sleeve, suggestions?
Sophie74656 replied to rgme1983's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the sleeve and am very happy with it. I have lost 175 lbs and I still drink things like sweet tea, iced coffee, (just in smaller amounts) please feel free to message me if you would like to talk about it -
Meals with a beverage
Sophie74656 replied to moppet's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I usually have a sip or two while I eat. I just can't otherwise -
that's great! Good job

your pouch is not too small...you are still swollen inside. Most people have all of their swelling go down about 6 months post op and then you will find you will be able to eat a little more.
-
So much depends on your insurance. I didn't have a strict pre op diet, definately didn't have to journal what I ate. I know the preop diet is tough but keep thinking about the end results. You can do it

Salmon sashimi is my absolute favorite. I also tried urchin recently and loved it
