HOW long term is the gastric sleeve ?
Sophie74656 replied to anewmee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The sleeve is very long term...permanent. They are removing most of yout stomach. That is very irreversible. Yes some people regain. Some people regain with lap band and some people regain with bypass. Whether or not you regain is ENTIRELY up to you -
Hunger is mostly head hunger and that is thr hardest battle

Need more details. What are you having problems with? Also your insides are still swollen and you most likely have some extra restriction making eating more difficult -

Lapband/sleeve conversion: Will insurance cover if lower BMI?

The best thing to do is to call your insurance company and ask them -
Relationships or meeting someone new post op
Sophie74656 replied to Jobey's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am more concerned with loose skin than the tiny barely visible scars. I think that if you feel there is a potential for a long term relationship then you should be honest about surgery -
I was never told to do puree, just soft food. At two weeks I had no problem with soft foods like canned tuna, avocado, eggs, etc. But if you are in doubt consult your nutritionist

Sleeve vs. Bypass
Sophie74656 replied to anniebanana's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Both surgeries will help with things like diabetes. Weight loss is about the same with both surgeries. With the bypass your intestines are reroutedand your unused stomach stays inside of you. That is what I didn't like about that -

I go anywhere I want. My favorite places are sushi restaurants and I just order some pieces alacarte. Or if I'm going to a chain restaurant I just get an appetizer. Or honestly I'll occasionally get a whole meal and take the leftovers home and it's a couple of meals

I feel if you are goi g through this major life changing surgery you need to do your research first. If your nutritionist didn't tell you what to eat, which to me is a huge red flag, then either get a better nutritionist or keep asking them until you get a list and you understand it. That's what the nutritionists are there for. As previously stated, what to eat post op is medical advice which you should get feom medical professionals especially since every plan is different. I've seen some people say they were on liquid for a month and I've seen some people say they were on purees right out of the hospital sp in the end it doesn't really matter what other people ate, it matters what your surgeon and your nutritionist tell you. I understand asking what others are eating, but you should not be asking strangers online what you should be eating

You should eat what your nutritionist tells you to eat

If you want diet soda you can have it a few weeks out. Shake it to get some of the bubbles out. Crystal light and powerade/gatorade are good -

Anyone starting weight at 200 lbs? Help :)
Sophie74656 replied to asolanom's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My opinion...not a popular one...is that at your weight I would not have surgery. Most people don't get surgery hoping NOT to loose a lot of weight. For the record my GOAL weight is 200 lbs -

I found one!!! I'm actually excited about this. I have been buying tons of different bars to figure out which ones taste good. I'm not a huge fan of the Quest bars. They taste bad and cost almost $3 a bar. The ones I found taste like a candy bar, are just over $1, and have a lot of Protein. http://www.pureprotein.com/~/media/pureprotein/product-catalog/products/chewy-chocolate-chip-78-g/chewychocolatechip78gbar.ashx?mw=423&mh=400
