Drinking/Eating
Sophie74656 replied to areader4life's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is something you should discuss with your surgeon since everyone has differebt plans. It's really not a good idea to have more than a couple of sips while you eat. That's what i do -
Happiness with overall total weight loss so far?
Sophie74656 replied to jpt.30175's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
You are not a failure. You lost 300 lbs. That's amazing -
Yes of course some people regain. But it's probably because they went back to making unhealthy choices. But that should not discourage you from surgery.

Very mixed feelings..on one hand good for her for having a positive self image and trying to make it "ok to be fat" and from the few episodes I've seen she at least talks about trying to make healthy decisions. But, and i hate saying this, a small part of me feels like it shouldn't be ok to applaud someone making constant unhealthy decisions. But I was that person making constant unhealthy decisions

This is actually normal. Fat stores estrogen so as you loose weight it is released into your blood. Ever since surgery i am a weeping trainwreck that time of the month. Never was like that before

It's different for everyone

I get popsicles, grape tomatoes, eggplant babaganush, and frozen berries which i add to my protein shakes

Can't Believe I Finally Did It!

Congrats and good luck. When you do get some water remember to take small sips. -
This is something you should discuss with your nutritionist as everyone is on a different plan. From what I've seen here most people are focusing on protein and not really counting calories. I have not counted calories since my preop diet

Time after time of over eating, you could stretch your sleeve - at least that's what I was told. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Awesome, thank you! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Were you told by your surgeon? If the sleeve is done correctly the part of your stomach (i forgot the name of it) that stretches is removed Many people think they have had stretching because there comes a point when all of the internal swelling has gone down and you can eat a little more

Will I eventually be able to eat more?
Sophie74656 replied to PaulBenn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes after a few months the swelling goes down and you can eat a little more. I am 8 months post op and can't eat a whole hot dog with the bun...but isn't that the point of surgery? -
One, water goes through your SLEEVE very fast and won't stretch it. Two, your sleeve cannot be stretched by water or food or anything

5 weeks til 1st Surgeon Appt....how to get a head start?
Sophie74656 replied to gina171's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Dieting won't hurt, any weight you loose before surgery will make the actual surgery easier. Many people have to do a liquid diet pre op and that might make it a little easier. Don't go overboard with the Protein, many people find that after surgery they hate a Protein shake that they liked before surgery My journey involved seeing a cardiologist, pulmonologist, and a coupme other doctors and for them I was a new patient so it was hard to get appointments. You could use this time to find some in network doctors and schedule some appointments. You can always move them or cancel them later -
I also live paycheck to paycheck. I was out of work when I had my surgery. My insurance covered 80% and the hospital gave me a payment plan for the rest.

It's frustrating when...
Sophie74656 replied to tiffanymarie6997's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's stopped now but at first anytime I ate my mom would always ask "can you eat that?" -
I woukd hope if you're already in a loving relationship their oponion won't change. They will love you for you. Also personally my cup size has not gotten smaller after loosing 175 lbs And.....i really don't want to sound nasty but the idea of loosing some boobage shouldn't stop you from loosing weight

Absolutely! There are a ton of copycat recipes on pintrest. They are good but not the sameIf you perfect it will you please share the secret? I for one will try to make it. I know recipes exist out there but I would rather use the recipe from someone who actually makes it and gives it the taste test. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Can I proactively prevent hair loss PRIOR to surgery?
Sophie74656 replied to duckydoom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have hair loss. I don't know if it's because I was taking a multivitamin or if it's just something not everyone experiences -
many people recommend it, and it is very tasty. Still trying to perfect the copycat recipe at home

with time you will learn what your full signals are. That's why it's important to eat slow. And for me it's different with different foods. Beef, even ground beef, I cannot eat much of. Maybe two or three bites. But salmon I can eat almost 4 oz

don't give up, even if you have to pay something out of pocket most places will work with you and at least give you a payment plan
