I am 9 months post op and going through a dicorce. We would have been married for 10 years in September. After having surgery and loosing weight I gained some self confidence and my eyes were suddenly open to how emotionally abusive he was and to all the classic warning signs that he was cheating.

4 days post op and having a hard time drinking soo much????

You are not going to get everything in right away. Most people can't. Just get in what you can without pushing yourself. As you heal and your swelling goes down it will get easier You are not going to get everything in right away. Most people can't. Just get in what you can without pushing yourself. Packing for hospital
Sophie74656 replied to albare1978's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You don't need much. A book or something to entertain yourself, phone and charger, comfy clothes for the ride home and a pillow to press against your tummy for the ride home. The hospital should provide everything else -
I've been out many times and people don't really lay attention to what you are eating. Just as long as you have something. I usually order an appetizer or a salad with chicken. And just because someone else is having a drink doesn't mean you have to have one.

What does your plan say? What did your nutritionist tell you?

Does everyone but me have a nutritionist?
Sophie74656 replied to cseidman's topic in Food and Nutrition
I went to a bariatric center and they had a nutritionist on staff that I talked to. -
I was advised not to have coffee for the first two weeks, after that I've been having some almost every day starbucks has some great low cal drinks. Their refreshers are sweet and refreshing and have green coffee which gives you that boost. The largest size (32oz) is something like 150 calories

I see why its so hard to find NO COMPLICATION stories
Sophie74656 replied to Womanvsmirror's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 9 month post op and had ZERO complications. My recovery was great, I had no pain in the hospital or at home, I was up and walking around and running errands in a matter of days. I haven't even had much hair loss at all. -
Do you have an appalling experience of dealing with a weight-biased healthcare professional?
Sophie74656 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had a similar experience with my BWL surgeon, of all people. First one looked at me and asked what meds i was on for high blood pressure and diabetes. I said none, I don't have either of these. He had the damn records right in front of him, all the documentation from my PCP, and he STILL issued the lab work and had the NP take my blood pressure. This thread reminds me of the very first episode of "House" that I ever watched. A very overweight guy (around 500lbs) ended up in the hospital because of some breathing issue. The staff was 100% sure that the problem was his weight and try endlessly to test him for diabetes. He refuses, knows he's not diabetic but also knows without a doubt that something is very wrong. Long story short, he wasn't diabetic; he had lung cancer and it was too late to do anything... but nobody'd been looking for anything to be wrong other than something associated with his weight. Not that there's any prejudice against overweight people... Yes I remember that episode. I felt sympathy for him. I remember he said that he was refusing any testing they were doing on him unlessit was for something not weight related There is definately prejudice against overweight people. Just look in the media. It's no longer acceptable to say anything about people's race, gender, sexual orientation, but you can make fat jokes all day long -
Once again sorry for this post but i love the support here you guys are awesome. My parents have been on vacation for the past week and a half so some evenings i was kind of lonely which left me thinking about things...mainly things with the ex husband Looking back on the last 2 years I feel like an idiot. Why did I not leave the day I said I love you and he said he couldn't say it back. Why didn't I question things more when he got very possessive of his phone and wouldn't let me touch it. Why didn't I speak up when he went out with his female friends and didn't want me to come. I still want to think he wad not being unfaithful, at least physically, but all the classic signs were there and I feel like an idiot for not leaving two years ago

Dissolvable stitches/sutures
Sophie74656 replied to tiers4me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You might not even have stitches at all. I only had some internal stitches on my main incision and everything just had glue -

I had gone to a surgeon about a cyst and he asked me what kind of diabetes medication I was on. I told him I wasn't diabetic. He even had my bloodwork that showed my sugar at normal levels but he kept asking. He flat out said that he didn't believe that a person at my weight did not have diabetes. -

-
I just finished a good sci fi book called Red Rising...there are two others in the trilogy but I haven't started them yet
-
many things depend on your insurance and your surgeon's requrements. For me I had a whole bunch of testing...bloodwork, ekg, sleep study, nutritionist, psychologis, and a couple others.

Options...don't know what to do...
Sophie74656 replied to tavilez12's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
find out what your insurance requrements are, they might not be so bad and you won't have to spend all that money out of pocket. It's not a bad idea to go to the doctors they require to really make sure you are healthy enough to go through surgery. I heard one person talk about durring their pre op testing they actually discovered a serious tumor they didn't know they had. -
your stomach is smaller, there is less food in it so the alcohol hits you harder

How much grs of protein per day needed?
Sophie74656 replied to Ley's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
sorry if this sounds rude but this is the most basic and important information your nutritionist should have given you. This should have been the first thing they discussed with you. You should contact them and go over this with them -
I had no resttriction on hot sauce. Try a little first and see how it sits with you

Adult beverages after the sleeve?
Sophie74656 replied to fancypants67's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
you should go by what your doctor says, not what random people online say. Just because someone has one particular experience doesn't mean it will be the same for anyone else. The best thing to do is to go by what your doctor says, they know you and your medical history and the details of your particular procedure. -
