  1. I had surgery on a Monday and went back to work the following Monday. I have a desk job. I was a little tired and still a little sore the first couple days but as long as you don't have to do anything to physically strenuous.....of course everyone is different.

    2nd week food options

I'm in week 2 and in addition to what you're eating they also have me eating refried beans, cottage cheese and pudding
  5. @@Ragedddy I was also sleeved on 10/5...still sore but getting better everyday. I go tomorrow for my post op checkup and hopefully get clearance for soups/purees. I have lost 11 pounds.
  6. I'm in Denver, CO. One week post op tomorrow.....so looking forward to soups and soft foods hopefully Weds. Protein shakes are increasingly difficult to swallow. Getting 64+ oz of water is much easier. I still don't have much energy....walking a couple blocks totally wipes me out. I have lost 10 pounds since my preop weigh in on 9/30. Never would have thought that was possible!
  7. Just took my first walk outside the house, just walked around the neighborhood for 20 minutes and boy it wiped me out. I didn't have a problem drinking my protein shake and water yesterday but today has been harder...seems like it should be going in the other direction and getting easier?
  8. Just got home. Everything seemed to take just a little longer than expected. Arrived at hospital at 11:30 for 2:15 surgery, but I didn't have surgery until after 5 so there were several hours of nerve-wracking waiting. Today I was supposed to be discharged between 1-2 but they didn't get all their ducks in a row until after 6....more sitting around waiting. I have a little soreness but nothing too terrible. Now, I am enjoying my premier protein shake, first non-clear liquid food I've had in 5 days....its so good! LOL.
  9. I started my Clear liquids yesterday and was soooo hungry no matter how much I drank. Today is a little better. Just ready to do this already. Heading to the hospital in the morning for 2:30 surgery. So I can't figure out how to post from the app on my phone, I can only read stuff, and I am not hauling the laptop to the hospital. Might not be able to post anything til Tues afternoon.
  10. Looking forward to finally getting a new job! Everything I have applied for in the past few years I have a great phone interview then the in person interview is over in 5 minutes and suddenly I'm not right for the job even though I looked great on paper and sounded great on the phone.
  11. @@retrieverguy I am scheduled for Monday afternoon and they told me nothing except clear liquids after midnight last night! I'm jealous you got an extra day. That said we had Mexican for dinner last night. I even had a beer. ( Might be a long time before I can have one of those again.) They didn't really give me any restrictions on eating or drinking anything in particular prior to this weekend. I had sushi for the last time, last week.
  12. I am on Monday as well....its going to be a long 5 days! I'm nervous but very anxious to get this part over with. All my pre-op stuff went well. They said I am "very healthy" and should come through this just fine. I thought "sure I'm healthy except for the whole morbid obesity thing!"

    Any Colorado sleevers?

I'm scheduled for the sleeve with Dr. Snyder in Denver on 10/5. Getting nervous and would love to hear from anyone who has had this done recently. Post ops stories seem to run all the way from "it was easy, I recovered in 2 days" to "6 months of hell"
  14. I gained a little weight during the 3 month supervised diet too...i think it was psychological, i have been on a medically supervised diet for years and this 3 months was just for show for the insurance company. I didnt do anything different during those 3 months. I was approved in less than 2 weeks no questions asked.
  15. The October facebook group only has 3 people so far (including me) if anyone else wants to join us. Message DaniEcho to be added. You can't search for the group since its secret so you just have to be sent an invitation to join.

    Beverages - Need help!

At a place like a comedy club with a 2 drink minimum, what the heck do I order? Literally everything has alcohol, sugar, caffeine or bubbles, or all of thee above. A seltzer with lime used to be the diet drink to order when "out" but no carbonation so that's out. Hate to pay for a glass of tap Water...
  17. There is already an October 2015 sleevers group on fb, I saw it on another thread and asked to be added. It is supposed to be a secret group so you can't search it. I will find out more when they add me if anyone wants to join that
  18. @@DaniEcho Forgive my facebook ignorance, but is the group private? Will it show up in my profile as a group I am in?
  19. @@SunnyPiper We have the same doctor, I'm Oct 5th!

How much time to take off?

I have a week scheduled off. My employer is pretty concerned that I definitely come back after just 1 week, (I know they are not supposed to be able to tell me when to come back from surgery but they are) and I'm worried 1 week won't be enough. Its a desk job. Hopefully this does not become an issue. There is someone just waiting to takeover my job when I am not there so they wouldn't miss me.

    Secret

I have also sworn my husband to secrecy. I have only told one other person, and will probably tell my family AFTER surgery because they would a) try to talk me out of it and worry. I have broached the subject with other groups of friends and the response is overwhelmingly negative towards WLS. I just can't have that kind of negativity in my life right now. I may feel differently post-op, at least I hope I do.
  22. I was just scheduled today for 10/5....2 weeks! I was told once I was approved by insurance it would be 3-4 weeks so I was mentally planning for later in October. Little freaked out now!
  23. I was submitted on the 8th and got approved today. They have scheduled me for 10/5, which is -yikes- 2 weeks away. I was expecting it to be later in October so I am a little freaked out right now. But, the sooner I get this part over the with, the better so I am not delaying!
