Tummy pains after eating
kradtke5 replied to larac05's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Introduce one food at a time to your new stomach. It appears your tummy does not like hummus right now. Try something less dense. Cooked and smashed carrots, yogurt, cottage cheese or even some sugar free pudding. -
I smoked for 10 years and quit cold turkey a few months before surgery. The more you smoke, the more issues you will have after or even during surgery. The fact that you think it's okay to keep smoking, while having a surgery to make you healthy is foolish.

A whole buncha #2's -- is this normal?
kradtke5 replied to heather5565's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have a solid stool until just a few days ago. (1 month yesterday) Be happy it's coming out and you're hot constipated haha -
All the well wishes and good thoughts coming your way.

Questions Questions Questions and more Questions
kradtke5 replied to valeria.spadrezane's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hello there! First off, congrats on taking a step in the right direction in getting healthy! As far as some of your questions go, I may have some answers. My doctors didn't give me a weight to lose before surgery, but I was on a two week liquid diet before surgery, and lost a good 20 pounds. As far as getting denied, it's all up to insurance. I'm not sure what insurance you have, but each one is different. You have to do all these steps and appointments before they submit it. After that, it's no longer in your hands. If you are denied, your doctor can resubmit and find out how to get you approved. With the stress, you really need to find a way to relax. Stress does not help. Try journaling your thoughts or going for a walk. Everything will happen in time, just enjoy the ride. -
Hey there, So just wondering if anyone else experienced the same thing I'm going through. I'm on day 8 post op and woke up this morning with a pain in my left side. Below my two incisions but before my hip. The pain seems to hurt when I move around a lot or when I cough/sneeze. I've been looking online and saw a few message boards that stated its a pretty common pain. My brain just always goes to the worst case scenario, so I'm hoping one of you may have experienced the same thing. Thanks!

Random question, but what is everyone drinking post op? I feel like I need something different than water and milk.

Bloating/gas- how long?
kradtke5 replied to TMG1980TMG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The gas from surgery takes a few days to go away. I used some gas x and waking. But you will always deal with gas pains from here on out. Everything was clipped and flipped around so the chances of gas pains being a regular thing, are pretty high. -
It's seems like the past few days I've been light headed and dizzy. The dizziness is mostly upon standing up or moving directions quickly. I just feel very out of the "norm" the last few days. This weekend was much more active than I have been since surgery. I'm at three weeks out on Thursday. I'm trying to hey fluids in and have been around 40-50oz a day. Anyone else experience this?

One of my friends who had the sleeve about a month ago had this same reaction to chipotle. Weird right? I'm thinking your pouch may be a little swollen and irritated and maybe just trying some ice cold liquids for the day will help.

I've noticed that I can't drink sink water at all! For some reason it sits really hard in my stomach. :/

That looks more like it could be an alopecia. I would definitely ask your doctor about it.

7 wks. post-op not enough protein
kradtke5 replied to jennylew's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My NUT has me on 60g of protein a day. So in my eyes, you're doing great. I started to water down my Greek yogurt with a little milk, works great. -
A whirlwind of emotions
kradtke5 replied to kradtke5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you all so much for all your loving responses. It's so nice to have people who you don't even know, be able to make you feel a little more relaxed. Things have been changing everyday for me and I need to just go along for the ride. I see my dr tomorrow for my two week check up so I'll get some reassurance from him. -
Hello, So today is 9 days post op and it has been a whirlwind. Over the last week, things have been all over the place and different health issues have made my anxiety skyrocket. According to the doctors I've seen this last week, everything is normal and I'm progressing along nicely. However, there's something that always makes me panic when I experience a new ache or pain. I've never really had any anxiety/emotional issues before surgery, but it seems like since I've had it, everything is just a crazy mess. Did this happen to anyone else? I was seeing a psych doctor before surgery (per insurance) and they didn't see any signs of an anxiety disorder. I'm hoping I'm not alone on this. Crossing my fingers things start to ease up a little in the near future. My body is so over these panic attacks. :/

Good luck!

Hello there, Quick question. Did anyone experience pain where there IV was a week after surgery? My IV was placed on the top of my lower right hand. (Close to the wrist) It really stings when I apply pressure to the spot just above the IV spot. When I feel around, the vein feels a little swollen as well. When they removed the IV, it bled out very fast and they had to apply a good amount of pressure to stop the bleeding. Ended up with a big brown/yellowish bruise around the whole area.

Liquid/soft food diet must haves?!
kradtke5 replied to hungry4health's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Fairlife is actually lactose free! -
I've also been sleeping with a heating pad at night as well, it's been a big help.

Had surgery on the 10th and have had back pain since. They said its due to the fact that you're lying on such a hard table for so long. Best thing you can do is to get up and walk around.

Hello all, So after all my questioning if this was the right thing to do, I went through with surgery on the 10th. And I must say, I feel pretty good about my choice. However, this gas will not pass! I've tried walking, laying down, heating pads and the list goes on. I was able to pass gas once yesterday but not since then. Any advice on how to help get rid of this rumbling tummy?

Not feeling the urge..
kradtke5 replied to kradtke5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm consuming as many fluids as my body will let me at this point (a few days post op) and am still able to go. It's just weird to not feel the need to go but if I try, I can. All my blood work came back normal so I guess it's just my body being angry with me for making some changes.
