New Study Says People with WLS are generally....
UalreadyKnow replied to Stevehud's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My anxiety/stress levels are thru the roof right now. My husband lost his job, just before New Years and well, you can imagine it was a hard blow to take right after Christmas and just before my daughters birthday at Walt Disney world, so yes I'm hating life right now. Just weighed in this morning at 249 for a 99lb loss and haven't really smiled once about it. It seems so insignificant compared to the real world problems my family is facing right now. But, I have seen a small light at the end of the tunnel.... I totally want to eat everything in sight (as that I live with my elderly in laws and cook for them as well as my hubby and kids. we're Cuban and food=life) BUT I Physically can't, it makes me sick to my stomach. So, I take a couple bites of good proteins and I'm done. Ughhh things will turn around hopefully...eventually. Hang in there guys! -

Where is everyone from?

Miami,Florida‼️ -
I buy the lemon juice in a bottle and give my water bottle a pretty big splash of it every morning. It's just enough taste to satisfy me and it's supposed to do wonderful things for our body. Also, when I get bored of that, I do crushed ice with very, very little water and squirt Dasani's pineapple coconut flavored drops and enjoy every little piece of crushed ice and pretend I'm in Key West having a Piña Colada!! Bonus!!!!!

Just had someone this morning say "good morning skinny " mind you I'm still 250lbs.... Then proceeded to ask how much have you lost? When I answered "a lot" she says that's great but you have to keep it up??? Wtf?? Thanks WLS guru for ur lovely words of advice, was what I felt like saying, but she is my child's teachers' assistant so I had to play nice and bite my tongue. Needless to say, the conversation ended right there.

I lost 93 pounds in 4 months but I dont feel much different.
UalreadyKnow replied to leighannnn1791's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to think about it this way: when you start at a high weight like we did, it's like comparing a roll of paper towels starting with say 200 sheets.... Use 80 of those sheets and you still have a lot of the roll left... Now let's say you went the cheaper way and got a roll from the dollar store with only 80 sheets... Alas!!! There's no more paper towels! So think of us as the BOUNTY super rolls!!! We'll get there!!! BTW 4 and a half months post op and down 96lbs, can't hit that 100 pound loss for the life of me. It'll happen....eventually. Good luck and keep on keepin on -
I too fought for 3 years for this surgery, even got as close as surgery day...only to be told I had to pay $9000 for anesthesia costs before surgery....needless to say, I felt defeated. My gynecologist is actually the one that started the fight for me this go round, he's such an angel, a man of true faith. Even prayed with me at our consults for wlsurgery...spoke with the head of the hospital and got the ball rolling... I was sleeved 4 months ago and have lost 96lbs. Dr. Alvarez-Perez is always gonna be my hero!!!

Calorie intake
UalreadyKnow replied to amcpherson29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've read that confusing our bodies with slight calorie changes (both less/more) can help with a stall maybe lose 100 calories a day for a couple days then go back up to 900 and see if it jump starts it, if not,you go up 100 calories for a couple days and so forth. Don't know if it will work for you but it has for me!! -
I luckily have curly hair and can kinda hide the hair loss but I'm discovering bald spots everywhere! I try to only shampoo every 3-4 days cuz it seems to be worse after shampooing. On my off poo days I just do a conditioner rinse being that I need all the conditioning I can get ???? I did have to dye my hair recently as that I'm a natural blonde but I have a ton of grays, super scared I was gonna need a wig afterwards, but it was surprisingly not too bad! Hang in there girls, maybe our head just wants to join the bandwagon and lose some weight too!!!! my crazy hair^^^

WLS and Incidence of Cancer
UalreadyKnow replied to peglynmc's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
my father in laws oncologist has not wanted to operate on his gall bladder (stones) because he explains that while an operation may cure one ailment....The cancerous cells can react and awaken whenever the body suffers a trauma. Don't know if this is isolated to only my FIL's case being that he has been treated for cancer of the mucous membranes but just throwing it out there. Nevertheless we all made this choice to live... Live happily... No matter how much longer it may be, 5 years or 100 years. the fat suit is soo much more than physical weight, WLS has saved me in more ways than one! -
Apprehensive feeling when asked "how much have you lost?"
UalreadyKnow replied to goblue9280's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I get asked this on a daily basis because my MIL runs a nail shop out of our home, everyday there is someone that's hasn't seen me in a week or so and wants an "update" but after answering this question everyday..about 8 times a day, it gets very frustrating. Then I get the ones that say "wow you've lost a good 20 lbs right" and I say to myself.. "No b***h more like 95 but ok" but really, I just smile and say,yea I've lost some weight. Nothing like an F YOU with a smile!!!! -
WLS and Incidence of Cancer

I'm sorry for the loss in your family @@CowgirlJane cancer is becoming easier to detect and may be why we are seeing so many cases come up, and sure it may be coincidence with my personal friends, but I was simply agreeing with OP that it has indeed crossed my mind. -

Best way I have found to make coffee
UalreadyKnow replied to Nurse_Lenora's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I believe they all clump due to the whey curdling when hot,I found that if I dissolve the Protein Powder in some milk/creamer ( whatever my mood is) and then pour in the coffee, it's fairs a whole lot better -

np! I feel the same way sometimes! Breakfast--6oz coffee with protein powder Lunch--star creations (any flavor) and 3-4 Brussels sprouts in garlic butter Snack-- pepperoni chips (1serving) Dinner--any lean meat I make and about 1/2cup or less of veggies Snack--another coffee with protein powder or a quest bar Don't know if I'm taking the right approach, as my NUT is having chemo and has no replacement yet but I'm kinda doing a sort of Atkins/south beach diet thing. Bad part is... I beat myself up if I do "fall off track" and have some no-no carb, and I HATE that feeling of failure. -
