I've had cucumbers a few times. I just missed something closer to a "chip". Fortunately my family likes the taste of them too, I get 3 or 4 and the rest are eaten by the kids and hubby. Keeps me out of trouble

Has your Marriage Changed Since Surgery?
tdhaddox replied to Half of Bri's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Almost 32 years together and he loved me thin, loved me heavy and loves me still. While it feels like we are happier now I think it's mostly that I am happier with myself now and feel so much better. -
Tubaligation and gastric bypass?
tdhaddox replied to diane1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a friend doing this exact thing. Her OB is going to coordinate with the Bariatrics surgeon. It can be done pretty easily. -
Eat more calories!
tdhaddox replied to Seahawkgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It does get easier. I noticed it about 6 weeks out. The only way I made my protein goal was to have a protein shake in the morning and then enough before bed to make up the shortage. I have no problem now as long as I have one shake a day, I'll be 12 weeks post op on Monday. Hang in there. -
Eat more calories!
tdhaddox replied to Seahawkgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same exact thing happened at my 1 month post op. Kinda surreal to be told to eat more!! It does get easier when you're eating real food. -
HELP! (No, it's not really THAT dramatic????)
tdhaddox replied to Elode's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I like strawberry sf jello, a little whipped cream, drizzle of chocolate syrup (a little goes a long way) and slivered almonds on top....yummy! -
Yeah, not so much, however, thanks to all the support on this site, I didn't flip out when I didn't lose any weight for 2-3 weeks. I didn't throw in the towel and berate myself for screwing something up and fall off the wagon, feeling like a failure. I just kept plugging along (breaking lots of old habits). Happily, I am down 3 lbs since Monday so maybe the first stall is behind me. I don't think I'll ever embrace the stall, but I can view her as a necessary stepping stone on my new path. Down 24 lbs in 8 weeks, I'll take it!! I'm thankful to have a place to do research, learn and ask questions. Thank you!

Will I ever be able to eat Pizza again?
tdhaddox replied to ThickFit504's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I learned the same lesson, keep it simple and give it time. That's really the only craving that got to me. So far so good. -
Will I ever be able to eat Pizza again?
tdhaddox replied to ThickFit504's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a small piece of pizza yesterday and I'm 7 weeks out. It did sit kinda heavy in my stomach. I was craving it and doc said it was ok. Now that I got that out of my system, I think I'll be able to leave it alone now. -
Thank you for responding. I'm hoping it does and that now I'm cleared for regular food, it should be easier to up the calories. A little planning last night has me at 680 for the day so far. I've been pleased with the weight loss so far so speeding it up would be a bonus!!

At my 6 week post op today and all went well. I was actually told to try an up my calories, THAT, has to be a first for me!! Presently getting between 550-600, occasionally a little over. Getting to 700-800 will be challenging.

Like others I went home the same day but I had no issues with vomiting and tolerated walking and fluids well. I was glad to rest in my own bed and my family took great care of me. I have no doubt that had I not been doing well, I would be been kept.

Sounds yummy! When I get to that stage I'm definitely trying it!

At almost 3 weeks post op, I'm missing gum. I chew it all the time at work, helps with nervous energy and of course ensures I don't have dragon breath when talking to my staff and peers? Are there rules around it? I didn't get anything in my post op instructions and I've been through them several times.

What's the scoop on chewing gum?
tdhaddox replied to tdhaddox's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Miller1109-unfortunately there was no mention in my rules. Odd because I thought they were pretty thorough otherwise. I'll play it be ear and see how I do and fortunately I've never been one to swallow gum so I don't think I'll have that be a problem now. It's helpful to see what others do and don't do and the reasons behind it. -
5k 10 days after surgery?
tdhaddox replied to Maria Kae Smith's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I was supposed to do a 5k today with my husband. My surgery was 8/31, I opted to not do it as I don't want to over due it and then be miserable the rest of the day, just in case it was too much. I'm a nurse and my normal walk is a fast walk, it's just natural for me. I walked a lot at work Monday my first day back and was miserable. It's a personal choice I think. -

Thank you! I am getting some tomorrow!! -
Pam, same surgery date and I did the same thing. So happy today is Friday!

I had mine out at the same time. I didn't have stones, just a non-functioning gallbladder. I'm almost 3 weeks out and went back to work this week. I have 1 extra "puncture" site than I would have had originally and it's given me know problems. I don't think I'm any worse for the wear, however, it's one more assault on your digestive system. Mine seems to be tolerating it ok.

Sleeping 45 degree, for 4-6 weeks!?!
tdhaddox replied to lauragp74's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Like a few others, I'm 2 1/2 weeks out and totally have no problem sleeping on either side. -

That's fabulous! -
Tomorrow makes 2 weeks post sleeve. I started full liquids after 7 days, should I be able to drink a full 8oz at a meal? The Soups are relatively thin, such as tomato, and I use a spoon to be sure my "sips" are small, but I can get a full cup in over 45 minutes or so. Is that ok? Appreciate any feedback, Toni

@antor-thank you for the support. You look phenomenal! Definitely inspiring!!

Today at lunch I stuck to 4oz and did feel better. I think I've connected the reflux feeling with having eaten (drank) too much. At 4oz, I didn't get that feeling. Of course I am back to work today, so didn't really have time to think about it either. May cool my jets a bit the next few days and see if it stays that way. I really appreciate this board and the feedback! You guys rock!

Whew! Thanks to both of you. I want to get this right and not start out overeating. Toni
