  1. 153.0 this morning. I knew after the big loss last week I wouldn't see much if anything at all. I'll take it! Have a great week!

    Out patient gastric sleeve?

I didn't get good all my protein in for a few weeks and 64 oz of water took me even longer. Now I can drink water like I did before surgery so it's easier. Hang in there. This time next week it will be so much better.
  5. Sw-158.6 GW-149 Thank you!

    NSV shout outs

I did it! Got into my goal jeans! Never in my life have I actually bought something in a smaller size and actually gotten in to it! I felt really bold getting those jeans and was a little skeptical about it, but dang it, THEY FIT!!
  7. I'm in! Thank you!! My goal is 149-just below a "normal" BMI. Will post my starting weight on Monday. Thank you very much!!
  8. I was told to get 60 gms of protein daily and on days I work out, up it to 80. Limit carbs to 60 or less and fat limited to 20 gms. She also said if I was going to fudge one, it should be the fat. Eating more carbs causes increased glycogen to be stored and the body will use it first vs body fat therefore slowing fat burning.

    Out patient gastric sleeve?

I had mine done as an outpatient and 4 of the other 5 people I know also did it outpatient. The one that didn't went to a different surgeon. I'm glad I was in my own bed to recover and managed my pain and nausea meds on my own timing.

    Any August 31st Sleevers?

I'm a slow loser too but I'm losing so I'm happy. Down from tight 16 to a loose 10, down 42 lbs so I truly can't complain. I've never averaged 10+ pounds a month before so in the grand scheme of things, I'll take it!!

    Low BMIers (30-35) insurance question.

Yay for you!! I hope your experience is as good as mine. I'd hate to recommend someone and then it not go as well. It really has been smooth and I've not had to call for anything and my post op appointments have been fine. I go in with my list of questions and get the info I need. I've never felt rushed or like an inconvenience, but again, I'm pretty low maintenance. In addition to being a nurse I have a few friends who've done this and been a great resource. Best of luck and stay in touch. I'd love to know how it's goes!
  12. I too have only told a few. Now that I'm post op when asked I just tell them I'm eating a lot less and only few good carbs. Technically not a lie. I did have a few staff who were worried I was sick that I had wls. Their concern was so sweet and I felt like they deserved the whole story. Even now people who don't know what I've actually done tend to have negative comments about losing and that I should stop. I'm not even at a "normal" BMI so I'm still working it. I'll re-evaluate my goal after 8 more lbs.

Tell me about odd weight loss patterns

Jane, that's what I do! Randomly drop down a pound or 2, then up 1, nothing a few days then boom, down 3. A weird pattern but it's mine and I'm used to it now.

Tell me about odd weight loss patterns

I do the same now. I'm almost 4 months out but for the last 2 months, I lose 3-5, then nothing for several days, then boom, down a few more. It's a weird process but I just roll with it.

    Low BMIers (30-35) insurance question.

I'm sorry, I looked back yesterday and turns out it was $2500. Not sure where I got $2100. I hope you do give them consideration, I am so pleased I did this and truly have had zero issues with any of the staff in the office.

    Bras!

I bought my first new bra after losing 40 lbs and went down 1 band size but same cup. I'm now a 34H, mind you, I did have breast augmentation several years ago, so I know my cup size won't change a whole lot but thought it would be more different. I must also admit, I probably should have increased my bra size when I gained weight after augmentation but being a 36H was embarrassing enough! By the way, it was never my goal to be. In such a large cup size and once I'm at my final goal, I will be downsizing. Much to my husbands disappointment!!

    NSV shout outs

Last month I got my first pair of new jeans since surgery and was a little disappointed it was just 1 size down from a 31 to 30. Fast forward to yesterday and my new jeans are now a little baggy. I tried on the next size down and they fit well. Just for fun I asked the sales girl to grasp the next size down from the ones and tried and holy moly!! THEY FIT! A little snug, but with the spandex in them they will be fine. I fit into a 28! I promptly handed those to my daughter and told her to get them and give them to the hubby to put under the tree! I can't believe I'm not only now wearing skinny jeans but they are 3 sizes smaller and a 28! A FREAKING 28!! I still have 8 lbs to hit my first goal of a normal BMI, never would have I dreamed that size would ever fit...ever!!

    Low BMIers (30-35) insurance question.

That's unfortunate. I've not had any issues but I haven't had any issues. I live across the metroplex from the office and where the support group meetings are so I don't go. I don't feel like it's been an issue. I'm just so happy to have been able to do this and it only cost $2100.00. My first appt to start the process was late May and I was sleeved August 31. Could have had it done much sooner but we had 2 vacations planned and a daughter to get back to college so that was the earliest time that worked for me.

    Low BMIers (30-35) insurance question.

Not sure who you saw reviews for but I went to Nicholson and have been very pleased.

    Low BMIers (30-35) insurance question.

Actually I stumbled on it. I'm in the DFW area and there are a few options for surgeons willing to do the surgery. My BMI was just over 33 and I don't have comorbidities...yet, but my surgeon agreed with my family history, surgery was appropriate. He also said the CDC actually supports surgery at a lower BMI dependent on family history. Not sure what area you live but you might be surprised.

I went the hiatal hernia route. Piece of cake.

    Slow losers

Thank you for posting the graph. Very helpful to know I'm right where I should be! Thank you!
  23. Found a great recipe on Pinterest for Parmesan wonton crackers and they are yummy! No fat, a few carbs and even a little protein. Almost 3 months out and I was missing a little crunch in my life. These are perfect!
