How soon after the surgery can i have alcohol?
DaisyAmy replied to stasy-prime's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Our program warned us about transfer addiction. I have had a couple of cocktails for very special occasions, but typically, it's not worth the calories for me -
It's on sale at SAMs this month, too!

Flying long haul seven weeks post op - any tips?

I searched that group and was able to see everyone's full names. See pic. (Redacted for privacy, of course) -
Me before weight loss surgery
DaisyAmy replied to tracey022216's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Folks, please know that unless a FB page is "secret", your friends (and anyone else!) can see that you belong to the group! Unless you're ok with everyone knowing you belong to "Bariatric Surgeries 2016", please be careful. If you're ok with everyone knowing, rock on! I just feel that not everyone understand that "closed" is NOT the same as "private". See pic for what I was easily able to find with a quick search... -

Kristen's Journey From Pre-Op and Beyond
DaisyAmy replied to KristenVSG2014's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wow. I'm just catching up on your journey. So thankful your husband is ok!!! And I'm so very sorry to hear about your grandfather. It's so natural to be stressed and get off track. Once things settle, you'll get back in your groove. Sending you lots of love. -
It definitely depends on your surgeon. I was told 1-2 nights. I was in 1, but would have preferred a day surgery. I got zero rest that night and I didn't need any specialized care. I tend to do really well with anesthesia and have high pain tolerance, though.

@@summerebanks It's your group, you can set it up however you like. I just want to make sure that @@Athenyx knows that her friends will see that she belongs to a "Bariatric Surgeries 2016" FB group if it's not "secret". Not everyone wants that info on FB. -
Thanks - she took it today and I was pretty pleased with it!! Still a work in progress, but trending in the right directions!!

So, our school secretary came up to me today and kindly offered to retake my yearbook picture because I look nothing like I did in September! [emoji4]

I don't really get the purpose of the balloon. I wonder how many people actually can keep the weight off in the long run? It seems like a forced yoyo diet to me. Maybe I'm completely wrong.

I've never joined a closed group so I thought it would show up on my profile - I don't mind joining if that's the case then. Though, I can't find a group titled 'Bariatric Surgeries 2016' on there, lol. Do you have to do a liquid diet before surgery? I just had a healthy Protein diet for two weeks pre-op so I wasn't very inconvenienced - it was afterwards that was a bugger, but I mostly stayed at home for those two weeks! You'll want to make sure it's a "secret" group, not just "closed". See screenshot As for your flight, looks like you've gotten some great advice. Have an awesome trip! -
Time between info session and surgery
DaisyAmy replied to BeeRodMul's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ditto. I had to do the 6 month thing for insurance, too. Went to my seminar in January. Would have had the surgery in July, but it got delayed due to something more pressing (cancer -all is good now). -
Are you eating the 2 scrambled eggs with cheese and applesauce together? I'm 3 months out almost and couldn't eat that much yet. Eggs are a good soft food, or try cottage cheese, refried Beans (blended), tuna or chicken salad blended, chili (chicken or regular) blended, etc. It will be difficult to get all your Protein in during the first few weeks without tolerating any Protein drinks. Have you tried Syntrax nectars? They mix with Water and are like a koolaid type drink. Or you can buy unflavored Protein powder and mix it in with your foods.

Would you use the chat room if you knew where it was?
DaisyAmy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in The Lounge
I found that the chat is accessible from the app, but it's not convenient to hang out there waiting for someone to show up, because it keeps you hostage (no split screen or anything), so I think a schedule would be a good idea. -
6 days post op...... diarrhea
DaisyAmy replied to thomas1984's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was very loose at first, too, and didn't take any stool softeners or anything. I hate to say it, but enjoy it, because you'll be constipated like no one's business before too long! [emoji31] -
New Sleever Questions
DaisyAmy replied to Chillivanilli's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
On my plan, we are allowed to have zero calorie flavored drinks (Propel, Sobe, Crystal Light, etc). Those saved me. -
I'm anxious to try fried cauliflower "rice" - with egg and chicken, I'm thinking it will be a great choice. Trader Joes sells riced cauliflower in the frozen section.

I've found Crunchamame (90 cal, 8g protein) and Enlightened ice cream bars (80 cal, 7g protein) to be pretty great finds for those times when you really need a snack.

I had mine out years ago, before WLS, but the recovery is not bad at all. You'll do great.
