Feeling odd eating at restaurants
DaisyAmy replied to loyalty_queen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'll ask for them to pack my soup up to go, right from the start. Lunch tomorrow! -
Yes!!!! The bending over to pick something up in the car is a huge NSV! I can't get over looking down and seeing so much of the car seat, too! Today, we went out for Breakfast. My husband and son know to let me always pick my seat first (I have a thing about not wanting my back to people - probably an issue from being so self - conscious all these years). One side of the table was really tight to the folks sitting at the next table. In the past, I would have made my son sit there. Today, I slipped in easily and let my big guys have the roomy other side!

"That's on your diet!"
DaisyAmy replied to Cape Crooner's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It has been hard for me to wrap my mind around seeking protein (even if it's a "burger") over "diet" foods like carrots and grapes and I'm sure it's even harder for someone who doesn't understand what we are going through. I, too, hate to hear anyone comment on what I am eating. I about jumped down a nosy coworker's throat when she questioned the black coffee I was drinking five months out from surgery . [emoji35] -
Feeling odd eating at restaurants
DaisyAmy replied to loyalty_queen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You figure it out in time. Start with family restaurants where you can just order a cup of soup or one scrambled egg (yep, I've done that). -
That's amazing!! Congratulations!

Syntrax Nectar Protein
DaisyAmy replied to 2bsleeved26's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've found that you need to have patience with them. Shake, let it sit, shake some more... -
Didnt lose My Hair during My Chemo Treatments but...
DaisyAmy replied to Lisa_85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm about 4 months out and have noticed it really bad in the last few days. Ugh. I'm sure others have opinions on what helps, but I think it's just a thing we need to go through. Make sure you are getting all your protein in and pray this phase ends soon! -
Questions/concerns about the lifetime commitment...
DaisyAmy replied to theantichick's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 4 months out and can tell you although it's definitely a lifetime commitment, it's really not so overwhelming. food choices become second nature. You don't have to think about X number of bites, etc, because you've made a good choice from the get go and your body tells you when to stop. Completely your choice, but I have zero regrets. -
Ok, so I really know nothing about horses, but I'm curious... how much should you weigh to ride a horse? I know it probably depends on the horse, but what is a ballpark range? Thx!

Disney World - Fat Friendly?
DaisyAmy replied to yerawizardamy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I don't have any experience on that ride, but just wanted to suggest doing a search for the ride and "pooh sized". There are forums dedicated to allll things Disney and I bet you'll get some info there. I've been to Disney at about 300 and 5'6" and could do everything. Universal, not so much -
A Beef about my Surgeon
DaisyAmy replied to Pedro Valle-Inclan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've only seen mine twice since surgery and have another appointment next week. Frankly, if he wants me to come back again, I plan on politely declining. His hours require me to take a half day off work each time and I'm there for literally five minutes so he can weigh me and say "atta girl". I much prefer the weight loss center that has evening hours and actually knows me. They manage my blood work, etc. -
I love the tropical Popsicle brand, too! The pineapple is ah-mazing!

You really do look amazing! I'm so happy for you and I thank you for sharing everything you're experiencing! It gives me hope and excitement to be in your shoes one day!!

Frustrated with this long WAIT to get a surgery date
DaisyAmy replied to Maggie Journey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I agree @2goldengirl. I had the six month program and then was delayed another 5 months due to uterine cancer. All that matters in the end is that the surgeon removed my cancer, and I am now on the losers' bench and getting healthier every day. A few weeks delay won't matter in the great scheme of things. Take this time to continue to make healthy changes in your life. You'll get there soon enough!! -
Oh, and we ended up at Six Flags on a whim and I didn't even think twice about getting on any of the rides, even though they had the fat girl warnings.

Flew for the first time since WLS. About 90# down and look at that excess seat belt length!! Woot!!!

The nystatin cream and powder were a prescription for me. And good records for the dr to have to prove there are issues.

What's my next step
DaisyAmy replied to diamondchic94's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I recommend the Beaumont program. They have a dr you can see through the weight loss center that should be able to help you get clearance -
It really depends on what your specific plan says. I have Bcbs and had to do the 6 months.

I needed my mom to drive me home from the hospital (Tues) and hubby to get the kid off to school Wed. Since I was off pain meds, I picked kiddo up Wed afternoon. I was running short errands on my own by Thurs.

Did you need someone to take care of you after surgery?
DaisyAmy replied to crazygoose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, so sorry your help fell through. You absolutely need someone to drive you home , but beyond that, I didn't need help from anyone. Granted, it would be nice for someone to bring you Water to sip, but you're supposed to be walking anyways! I could drive as long as I was t in pain meds after, so I drove on day three with no problem. I was doing light errands in days 4 and 5. -
RNY VS Sleeve for a type 2 diabetic?
DaisyAmy replied to MissMerc's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My diabetes was controlled with 850 mg metformin 2x day and glipizide 1x day prior to sleeve surgery. I've been off all meds since and am in remission. -
Yes, that's what I experienced, too. I hate to say it, but enjoy it, because it won't be long before you come here complaining of extreme constipation!!

Has my body smell changed?
DaisyAmy replied to Annek2014's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ohhhhhhh. Well that explains it!!!!!
