Premier protein shakes give me migraines
DaisyAmy replied to marycc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you certain it's the shakes?? I had massive migraines during my preop diet, too, but I'm pretty certain it was from the carb and caffeine withdrawals. Best of luck to you. -
4th of July Challenge: Red, White and Blue: Whole New You!
DaisyAmy replied to goplay94123's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Chiming in early - won't be by a scale tomorrow. Still at 214. Didn't get to goal, but I set it too low. At least I lost over the challenge! Thanks for running it! -
Mine consisted of 2 sessions - the first to talk with the psychologist and fill out several questionnaires with a gobzillion questions and the second to go over the results. The questions run the gamut from how you feel about medical issues, family support, addictive behaviors, etc. They are looking to ensure you have a healthy understanding of the ramifications of surgery and a realistic view of what it can and cannot do for you. Some people are recommended for additional counseling before they are approved, to ensure they are ready.

Michigan sleevers
DaisyAmy replied to diamondchic94's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, you are fully clothed, just like when you go to any doctor. If you have to do a certain period of weight loss (6 months or whatever), you'll meet monthly with a medical provider and get weighed in. You will also meet periodically with a dietician an exercise therapist (to discuss exercise plans). In addition, there are many other tests that need to get scheduled, such as psychological, blood work, body scan, heart tests, etc. -
Michigan sleevers

Hi, Melinda, I can't help you with the Medicare questions, but I did go through Troy, so I can tell you about the seminar. It's just informational - discussing surgery basics and options and giving you info on how their program is set up. They don't weigh you then, but you are given the opportunity to sign up for your first appointment after the seminar, if you wish. No idea what block testing is. It must be a term for some testing that Beaumont doesn't do (or doesn't call it that). -
Look what's on the Premier Protein website!

By the way, for those of you who aren't a fan of vanilla, try adding a little instant coffee (decaf or whatever you're allowed). It's amazing!!!! -

Another hair loss question, with a twist!
DaisyAmy replied to debd80's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had other surgeries, too, but the hysterectomy and WLS both brought hair loss. I think the rapid weight loss is a contributing factor, too. Try not to stress too much. It'll come back in time. -

215 today. Not going to meet my goal. Sigh. It was lofty. -
Another hair loss question, with a twist!
DaisyAmy replied to debd80's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a hysterectomy for endometrial cancer last July, which delayed my sleeve surgery. I did lose a fair amount of hair after that - it was a long surgery and a stressful time for me. My sleeve was in Dec, so 5 months later, and I am losing hair again. It's thinning, but no one but me and my hairdresser can tell. The amount is quite alarming at times, though. My hair is coming back from the first surgery already, so I have every faith that it will all return in time. Silver lining? My hair is much faster to dry now! -

Hold me steady this week. I forgot to weigh in before coming to scout camp. -
Clothes!!!!! I can now buy clothes at Costco! And not evenings biggest sizes! I also buy premier Protein shakes - have NOT seen caramel yet ::sob::, meat, some nuts. The had the Enlightened brand broad bean crisps there. 24 packs - 100 calories and so yummy! But, they were gone the next time I went. ::sob again::

So, I'm chaperoning Boy Scout camp soon and we all had to go do swim checks yesterday! I passed the Boy Scout swim test! Yay, me! You need to swim 100 yards continuously. The wave pool we did it in was actually bigger than 25 yards across, so who knows exactly how far it really was Hubby asked when the last time I swam that far was... I'm thinking never.
-
That's amazing!! Wish I had a pool that was close and cheap. :-/
-
Aw, that's so sweet of you to say! We have a blast at camp. I can't speak highly enough of the amazing things scouts does for kids. My son has flourished in scouts. And the adults I get to hang with are pretty amazing, too.

I have a serious question... I know, right?!?!
DaisyAmy replied to KindaFamiliar's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Following because I'm in a months-long stall, too. Upping exercise, which I haven't been great about, and hoping that will break it. -
I don't know much about it, but I believe you only have it for six months and then they remove it. So, in my opinion, you are not making a permanent change the results may not be long lasting. Just my opinion, but I know I needed something a little more permanent. I'm 6 months out from sleeve surgery and definitely still need to be working this tool.

What antibacterial soap did you/will you use the night before?
DaisyAmy replied to reachbree's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My hospital said Dial was good - not all Dial soaps have lotion. Look for the blue bottle -
Mine were internal and dissolvable (I assume). I was held together with glue. No bandages. Nothing.
-
I didn't have to have one - I think because my interview with the dr didn't raise red flags (denied sleep issues, etc). Hubby has sleep apnea, so we are pretty aware of the signs.
-
OP - way to go!!! Regarding the bra thing - I had a lesson learned this weekend. I was standing graffiti off a park bench at a scout thing and my girls were slapping the heck out of each other. My to do list this week? Bra shopping.

Good morning! 216.5 today! -
I couldn't use a robe because they kept an iv in until discharge. However, I was VERY happy to have some jammy shorts to put on under my hospital gown. I felt more "secure" walking. I was glad to have shorts vs pants because I was really hot and they kept those weird leg circulation things on when I was in bed.

Thoughts on amount of protein and carbs in this dish please!
