    Started the liquid diet

So sorry you aren't getting along with them. I don't mind them. Are you allowed coffee or decaf? I put a little instant in the vanilla and pretend it's a Starbucks!!

I started the pre op diet today, too. It's HARD!! I can totally relate to how you are feeling. But, we can do this! I just ordered myself a bracelet off Etsy that says... She believed she could, so she did We can do this!!!!!!
  5. Well, here I go! I'm nervous about staring up the pre op diet. And of course, it's an absolutely crazy week where I won't be home over the next four evenings due to kid activities and parent teacher conferences at my school. Plan plan plan!!
  6. We Amys can stick together - in hunger and in health!!!!!
  7. ** Pre op diet, obviously! ????

When you are too big to manage your period...

Hi, BLERDgirl, I just had a hyst this summer for uterine cancer, too. It delayed my sleeve by about 5 months (going in 2 weeks!), but so thankful it was all contained! And no more bleeding is a bonus!

    Thanksgiving Day!

So exciting! The nerves are starting to kick in. It'll be a challenging week for me, since we have parent teacher conferences 2 nights this week. Long days on protein shakes!

    Thanksgiving Day!

I start pre op Monday. Sadly, I did have some food funerals yesterday and today. But, looking forward to tackling my new life very soon!!

    Thanksgiving Day!

No, I'm starting the Monday after, for surgery on Dec 14. You can do this! Sip your protein shake (or whatever your pre op plan is) and enjoy the company of your loved ones! Thankful for our new, healthy lives!!
  12. I've been doing a lot of Premier Protein during my pre op months. I really like the chocolate and vanilla. I add a tsp of instant coffee to the vanilla and it's amazing. I bought instant decaf for after surgery! I found the texture of the strawberry unappealing. It had little globs in it. I've heard good things about Muscle Milk lite.

The fear of regain is REAL!

My friend had it about a year and a half ago. She hasn't gained, I don't think, but she's been stalled for a long time. But I see the same thing -the FB recipes she makes, the rich coffee she's drinking, etc. Although I didn't want to hear about people who failed at first, I do think it's a good reminder to not waste this gift we've been given.

    Pre-Op Struggles!

All programs are different, but I was given the choice to do "3+2" or "4+1". Which translates to 3(or 4) protein shakes and 2 (or 1) small protein/veggie meal a day with all the low carb veggies I want during the day. I think it will be doable.

    Always Cold

I can't wait to not sweat like a pig. There's only so much naked you can get in polite company!

    Always Cold

I had a hysterectomy in July. Sleeve scheduled for Dec 14. Looking forward to being cold! Lol!

    HELP!

I picked Dec 14, too, for similar reasons. I'm not waiting any longer to do it and wanted to feel 'ok' for Christmas. Good luck to you!! To us!!

    Nutritionist

Mine was similar to Inner Surfer Girl. I had a $190 fee that covered the whole deal, except for $20 copays for each medical provider visit. Although I've been getting some of that sent back to me ::shrugs:: The surgery will not cost me a penny.
  19. Ughhh. I've been taking Iron for a couple months trying to raise my hemoglobin (low after gynecological issues/hysterectomy in July). It's still 11.9 and I'm so worried they will postpone my surgery! It's already been delayed 5 months due to the hysterectomy. It had been down to 8.6. My total iron, ferritin and iron bonding capacity are all within range, but the hemoglobin, % saturation, MCH and RDW CV are slightly off. All other counts look good. Thoughts?
  20. Insight add a slow fe to my regimen. I was thinking of adding a third regular iron, but maybe mixing it up will be better. Thanks for the support!
  21. By mg it's less but it ends up being more if it's better absorbed, which can be the case. I went up four grams on it. Good point!! My medical provider posted on my online chart that my Iron labs were much improved and to keep taking the supplements, so I guess I'm good to go. ::crossed fingers::!!!
  22. Thanks @TinyTink. I started out with that, but it's less iron, so they switched me.
  23. I'm not sure what they'll do. I've been taking iron twice daily with vitamin c. Maybe I'll start three times. Sigh. My poor booty.

    Purée purée purée

I just got out of my post op diet class! They suggested mashed sweet or regular potatoes made with skim milk and protein powder, fat free/low fat cream soup made with skim milk (or puréed split pea, black bean, lentil, etc), scrambled egg mashed well, cottage cheese, hummus, fat free retried beans-thinned with broth or milk, chicken or tuna salad -puréed

    Thanksgiving and you

I start my pre op diet the Monday after thanksgiving. So, although I'm not going to go crazy with food funerals, my plan is to have a small taste of things. We always have a big veggie tray, so that will help!
