Ack! Only Starbucks for the weekend
DaisyAmy replied to WorkinOnMe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm on the skinny vanilla latte train. Haven't had Starbucks since surgery, though, because I'm supposed to only be on decaf, and I don't think that's an option for anything but straight up coffee. ::sad trombone:: -
Everyone tells me I'm tooo young, opinions?
DaisyAmy replied to befitnotskinny's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Oh, if only I could go back in time and tell my 20 year old self to do this!! Good for you for taking charge of your life. Take the bull by the horns and live a happy and healthy life!! Best of luck, my dear!!! -

How was goal weight determined?
DaisyAmy replied to Freckles70's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
When I first started, they asked and I said I had no idea. I think I threw out 175. I really just wanted to be healthier. Now that I'm 6 weeks out, they asked again and I threw out 160. I really still don't know! I don't ever remember being 160! It must have been in junior high or so. What's weird is I've already passed up the goal set by the Dexa body scan I had a year ago. Although I laughed when I saw what it said my goal was to significantly reduce my health risks (245!). -
I'm not a garbage pail
DaisyAmy replied to gowalking's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm learning how to handle leftovers differently, too. Really working hard to not turn hubby and son into garbage pails. Tonight, we needed to go out to eat. Plan A (chili) got thwarted when the place was too busy. Plan B got thwarted when the restaurant was closed. We ended up at Fuddruckers. Ughh. I ordered a grilled chicken salad. It has hard boiled egg, grilled chicken and a little bacon. Well, I hardly ate any of the protein - didn't touch the lettuce. Got a carry out container - put the protein in it and left all the lettuce there. It felt weird, but oh well!! I do think I'll eat the leftovers. Maybe. -

DaisyAmy replied to Mariaike's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also do the Oikos triple zero. It's pretty good. I like the fruit flavors, especially banana. -

Protein shake-need help!
DaisyAmy replied to 4shiggles's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I buy the premade premier Protein. They are pretty good. If you're allowed decaf, I recommend adding some instant decaf to the vanilla (yum) or even adding the shake directly to your cup of decaf instead of cream and sugar! I added about a third of the shake in mine and it was really tasty. I also second the Syntrax nectars. They had a deal where you could get a sample pack (15 packs) for about $16-17 with shipping. One per household. -
Gallbladder removal during surgery?
DaisyAmy replied to Paula'sVSGLife's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Go for it. Two birds, no stones! (See what I did there? Ha!) -
Holy Moly - I almost never check in here on my laptop - always on mobile and I don't see my ticker there. Today, when I checked in, I realized that I'm already more than halfway to goal!!!!! I really don't know what my goal should be, but picked a weight within normal BMI - so we will see. To put my journey in Scout terms: Roses: -easy surgery and recovery -gone down several sizes -revisiting long outgrown clothes again -gotten off all diabetes meds with great control -will likely be off cholesterol meds once I get my lipid panel done -been able to CROSS MY LEGS!!!!! -handled my diet during a Boy Scout camping weekend like a CHAMP! Thorns: -constipation! (dealing with it - it's under control) -saggy pants -rashes! My WL medical provider wanted to know when I had them so she could document for future skin removal. Um, when do I not have issues??? -my (very supportive) mother's sometimes annoying comments ("This is what I've always DREAMED of for you!") Buds: -taking several vacations this year - can't wait to fly without fat girl anxiety -theme park rides (without above FGA) -buying a dress for a couple weddings this summer -figuring out how to clothes shop like a regular person WOOT!

Has anyone here had VSG surgery after they have previously had their gallbladders removed?
DaisyAmy replied to Fitgirl2be's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had mine out 12 years ago. No issues for me at all! -

What do you eat for breakfast?
DaisyAmy replied to Hagengirl3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, if you are not liking the eggs and don't want sweet, keep in mind that you don't have to have "breakfast food" at breakfast time. Try cottage cheese, refried beans, ham and cheese roll up, nuts and cheese, leftover dinner meat, chili, etc. -
My liver was fatty. It was my gastroenterologist who suggested the surgery. I lost a fair amount of weight with all my preop insurance time and the pre op diet. Surgeon never said a word about my liver and my surgery was a success. Good luck to you!!

Anybody else have a huge dog that loves them so much its painful?
DaisyAmy replied to MIMISAN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a sheltie that can be pretty excitable and jump on you. I kept a large pillow on my lap as a barrier when I came home. -
I've tried it, but I find it very strong flavored. I didn't really like it. Maybe watered down or over ice it would be better. Definitely worth a try, though. I tried grape, lemon and berry(?).

Is laparoscopic surgery possible if someone had other abdominal surgery procedures in the past?
DaisyAmy replied to marioclark's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My belly looks like a knife block with all my laproscopic slits from gallbladder, hysterectomy and sleeve. Wasn't an issue. -
I have to get dressed tomorrow ????
DaisyAmy replied to cindyw41's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a smidge over a month out and that incision is still a little sore from my bra rubbing on it. My WL provider suggested keeping it covered with gauze pads, but I've been lazy with that. -
So exciting!!!! Congrats!!!!!

No one stayed with me. Hubby and mom stayed during the surgery. Mom had to go get kiddo from school and brought him up to say hello that night. They all left and mom picked me up the next day. She didn't even have to get out of the car!

Shoe size?
DaisyAmy replied to jhclikesshopping@gmail.com's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For those of you who went down in shoe size dramatically, would you have considered your feet "fluffy" before?? I wouldn't have considered my feet to be fat before, but would love to be down from a 10w! -
I've been upgraded to a basically regular diet. I haven't had any issues with any meats, so I'm eating chicken, pork, fish, ground beef (haven't tried steak yet). Chili is a go to for lunch. I've still been doing a shake for Breakfast. Egg salad and tuna for lunch, too. I've been drinking Water, Propel, Vitamin Water Zero, caffeine free tea and coffee. We are discouraged from ever having carbonation. I'll be able to have caffeine again, but I can't remember what my NUT's guideline was for that.

I am so so sorry for what you've been through. I don't have any advice to add, but just wanted to offer my support in your journey. Xx

Family likes to eat out
DaisyAmy replied to readyforachange84's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm just learning to eat out. I've found that family style restaurants work well. I've gotten just soup or just scrambled eggs (I'm just over a month out). I did get some baked fish and took the extras home. No biggie. My concern is when going on vacation and it's not practical to take home a doggy bag. Hubby will have to share with me, I guess!
