  1. Definitely bring Protein powder. You can always bring an empty shaker bottle with you, too, and fill it up after you pass through security. I'd bet you could find a yogurt in the airport. As for going out, it's a little tricky with purée. eggs were on my purée list, so if it happens to be a diner, you might be ok. Some soups will work, too. A bisque or something you can sip the broth out of. Also, you didn't hear this from me, but someone once said all food is purée if you chew it enough! So, if you can only find a bean Soup or soft white fish, just chew and chew and chew!!

    Potty Problems

I was having the same issues. I'm 7 weeks out or so. They told me to take up to 4 Colace a day and Miralax, if needed. If I'm consistent with the Colace, 1 a day seems to be working ok. My NUT said it gets better as we are able to incorporate more veggies into our diets.

    Diarrhea

It's normal after surgery. Then, the constipation comes ????
  6. Some don't require it. My friend and her husband both had sleeves done with no preop diet. ::shrugs::
  7. Hi, all! I was sleeved 12/14. HW 310?, SW 255, CW 230. I felt like it has been slow, but it seems like we are all plugging along around this rate. I've been struggling a little with trying to continue Protein shakes. Really kind of over them, but love the protein bang for the buck they offer. Tonight, I had a piece of cod and some veggies. I found Enlightened ice cream bars today. 80 calories and 7g protein. On their website, they also have broad bean crisps. That sounds intriguing. I crave crunchy/salty, but trying not to do too many nuts. I did buy some Quest chips, but meh.
  8. Oh my!!! I have no experience with this, but just wanted to say that your situation stinks!! It seems obvious that this would be a great choice for you! Hope it all works out and quickly for you!

    Did I hear her right?

Congratulations! I see brighter days ahead!!
  10. He goes to my friends' church. That was comforting to me at surgery time.
  11. Howdy! I saw you have Chengelis, too. Did you meet him yet? He's pretty great. His office staff can be a little abrupt, but whatever. Lol.
  12. Hi, all!!! I'm from Sterling hts. Had my surgery Dec 14 withDr Chengelis at RO Beaumont, although I attend the Troy WL center. Nice to meet you all!
  13. Taco meat was one of my first foods. Eggs, white fish, chili...
  14. I had to postpone my sleeve due to endometrial cancer. My gyn oncologist said if they got it all with the hysterectomy (and they did, thank God), I could have WLS after six weeks. I got my clearance letter at seven weeks (just the way my appt fell), but opted to wait almost five more months to coincide with a school break. No regrets.
  15. You really don't need much. I took minor toiletries, my phone and charger, pj shorts to cover my booty in the halls, slip on shoes/slippers. Others swear by Chapstick. Headphones might be nice to drown out the neighbor.

    Protein Water

I've tried Protein2O and I find it very strong. I got it at the local grocery store, but I can't remember the price. It might be ok over ice or watered down, but I didn't like it. I'd recommend just buying a bottle or two to try.

    Before and After Pics

I'm only 7 weeks out and haven't taken any full body progress shots yet, but I think you can really see the difference in my face!
  18. I told my kiddo that the dr was going to make my stomach smaller to help me eat less so I could be healthier. My kid was 13, so I used more precise terms, but still same idea. It also helped that friends of the family had gone through it a while back. I teach, too - speech therapist. I was out for a week and really didn't tell my kids anything. It's a little different for a classroom teacher, but I'm sure you can just say "be good, have a great week! I'll see you next Monday!" It's up to you how much info you share, but know that you're entitled to your privacy!

    Post Op Mexico VSG

I was able to do stairs the day after my surgery. You should be ok. I didn't go to Mexico, but I would recommend loose, comfy clothes.

    Feb 2 surgery

I was really happy to have a pair of pj shorts for under the gown. Helped when walking in the halls! ????

    Weight loss pre surgery?

I lost about 60 in my preop period. It turned out to be about 11 months due to a little cancer detour. I found that checking in monthly and starting to practice the habits I need to use now really helped me. I had a few people ask why I still went through with the surgery when I had done so well without it. Well, that's where the reality hits. I know with my history, that I wouldn't be able to maintain it forever without the tool of WLS.
  23. I teach, too, and slowly but surely many of my colleagues know the truth. All have been very supportive (at least to my face) and I think most recognize that I did a lot in my own preop (about 60 pounds). For most people who I wouldn't share my medical details with, I just smile, say "thanks" and maybe "it's a battle!" What annoys me when I tell someone about WLS, is when they say "oh, that explains it" - like the surgery is the only thing that is causing the weight loss. Not the constant decisions to eat smart, drink Water, take Vitamins, exercise, etc. Oh well. I'm thrilled with my decision. No one else's opinions matter!!
  24. Exercise your butt off!!! Good luck to you.
