Ham and cheese roll ups
nnv replied to sarahbethemails's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Every NUT is different. My program allowed "soft foods" 2 weeks after I was discharged from the hospital which included (and recommended) deli meat. -
2 weeks beyond surgery still hungry 2,200 calories a day what's wrong?

That's definitely not normal. I would make an appointment with your surgeon asap. -
Yessss!!! I can't believe I'm sick of this "full liquid" phase already and I've got another 10 days before the soft stuff. I've never craved a scrambled egg more! Other than the gas, I feel surprisingly good! I've got some bruising on my stomach and my tummy muscles are sore, but mostly I feel fine. Walking feels good and I've switched from the laxative the doc gave me to just adding some Fiber powder to my pureed Soup which seems to be working with all the walking. I'm going back to work tomorrow for just 4 hours a day, so we'll see how it goes! How are you feeling? Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk

Ohhhh....ouch! I'm glad I'm not getting hiccups, but boy do I burp a lot! I think I probably just need to slow down a little as I "eat" and drink. So glad you're doing well! Can't believe it's been a week already Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk

I came home Wednesday afternoon too. I denied the pain meds because they make me feel terrible, so just Tylenol for me. My pain level isn't terrible, but I'm uncomfortable if I stay in one position for too long. I haven't had any trouble with eating (except Protein shakes which feel too thick), but I'm struggling to get enough fluids in. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk

So it hasn't quite been 24 hours since my surgery, but I must say I'm feeling much better already! The physical pain right after was more than I expected, but it has eased pretty quickly. Now I'm mostly uncomfortable. My surgeon is going to keep me in the hospital until Wednesday morning and then I get to Co home and sleep in my own bed! Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk

I wasn't all liquid, but had a pretty restricted pre-op diet (under 1000 calories). The first few days were rough, but once the sugar was out of my system, it wasn't so bad. Good luck...you can do it!

I was good all day until now......may have to go to bed early. LOL Is your pre op completely liquid? mine isn't I get one meal a day. Hang in there! I keep thinking if I can only get through this week hopefully it will get better. No, I get 3 shakes, 1 cup non-statchy veggies, and 1 lean cuisine (under 300 calories). It just feels like it's all liquid...LOL! I think I'll try the ice blended Protein shake tomorrow to see if it satisfies the desire to eat more. We can do this!!! Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk aww....I get almost the same but only 2 shakes. a frozen meal and a salad. what I wouldn't give for that extra shake! Yes we can.....it is a means to an end.....gotta do what they want to get what I want....LOLTotally! Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk

Today was harder than yesterday; all I wanted was to CHEW something! It's probably better that I'm experiencing and overcoming head hunger now rather than after sugery. I just keep telling myself that I can do ANYTHING for 30 days. I don't let myself think beyond that for now. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk

Thanks for the advice! Yes, I've got 3 different scenarios mapped out to accommodate how I'm feeling. I'm hoping I will be able to lecture for about an hour a day and then send my students off to do learning application. Worst case though, I could just be online for a week. Hi Pam! I'm Nadene and I think I'm most worried about the recovery time. I am a college professor and I don't have normal vacation or sick leave as there aren't really substitutes available for me. I will only have about a week off before I have to be back in my classroom and I just don't know if that's enough. How are you feeling? What kind/how much activity are you comfortable with 1 week out? Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk

I am on the same thing and I started today too. Chugging water when the sugar cravings happened seemed to help.

Hi! I'm having surgery at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue on September 21. I'm doing the 2 week very low carb diet too...started today. 3 protein shakes, 1 cup of non-starchy vegetables, and 1 frozen lean cuisine meal per day. Sounds like you are going to have a great surgery if you made it through the diet! I'd love to hear more about your recovery if you are inclined to share.

Don't feel bad! Every surgeon is different and I'm totally ok killing my sugar intake before surgery rather than adding that to my recovery too. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk

Wow! That's a pretty terrible thing to have thrown at you so close to surgery! The truth is, attitude is a big predictor of outcome with most things in life. I teach my students about the self fulfilling prophecy. If you believe in a given outcome (like an awesome surgery and WL result), then you will subconsciously engage in behaviors that make your beliefs more likely to come true. Don't think about the terrible psychologist, stay positive and believe in your excellent choice!

Screwed up and feel bad!

Don't give up! You've come so far...you've got to learn to forgive yourself and accept that you're not perfect, but that this is a process and you can manage it! -
That's exciting! What does your pre-op diet look like? My doctor is having me do 2 weeks of 3 protein shakes, 1 cup raw/steamed veggies, and a frozen dinner that's 300 calories or less.

I'm so glad I found this site! I'm scheduled for September 21. I've only had one or two panic moments so far, but I suspect the liquid diet that starts on Monday may impact that number. I know I'm making the right decision, but I can't help feeling overwhelmed at times. I'm thankful for this site/app and all of you who are willing to share your experience; it helps me feel less nervous and alone!
