    Two years

    Are your labs ok are you taking your vitamins b-12 specifically. How much protein are you getting you should be at 60-80 grams every day. Are you drinking water it should be 2 litires every day
  2. i have a friend similar to the op he never understands why he cant find a mate when he goes after girls that are tiney tiny and stick figures and he is well over 400 pounds. also i have asked him to seriously consider wls because i am afraid i will lose my friend to his health in his 30's. i mean the man sleeps on cinderblocks under his box spring instead of a regular support system

    Surgery is 12/17! Ahhhhhhh!

    dont worry about the overnight hospital stay its really not that bad and you'll probably be asleep for most of it recovering. and ive had 3 surgeries on my ears this year all out patient but my best advice for you is to ask for the motion sickness patch behind your ear to prevent nausia from the anesthesia and pain drugs its amazing and you'll feel much better than with out it. also if you use a cpap bring it with you. bring slippers to walk the halls with. and just try to stay calm if they put the iv in your hand it hurts but youll be ok '

    i was told no booze for a year some have been told 6 months it all depends on your surgeon just make sure you look into transfer addiction and be sure not to be the driver when you drink because you really dont know how it will affect you

    Advice, Please - Surgeon vs. NUT

    I use the nut at my Surgeons office and she said 60-80 grams a day for life for protein and less than 80 grams of carbs a day and not to worry about calories at first

    PCP approval

    The only thing I need from my pcp is the letter of medical necessity for my insurance. I'm being supervised by the nutritionist in my Surgeon office and I love her she rocks.

    I'm still pre-op but I love the gnc 100% whey protein and EAS advantage I also like the premade ones from gnc but can't think of the name

    Unsuccesful surgery ?!?

    Well there was one woman on the board who was getting trying to get bypass and the surgeon was unable to reroute the intestine with out causing strain twice so they switched to sleeve the second time
  12. I am doing mine through my surgeons office and I meet once a month with the nutritionist and she goes over my food and exercise logs and talks about what life will be like after surgery

    I take topiramate for migraines and as a mood stabilizer and I've never had issues with hair loss. I have generilazed anxiety disorder anyway so if it makes me anxious I can't tell

    The thoughtless comments

    i second the rice cooker comment i use one all the time for my hubby i make him his rice and then i steam my veggies on top and its awesome they come in all types of sizes so you can make as much or as little as you want and if you get the bigger option you can steam more veggies win win

    i am double covered under my primary uhc and state insurance and basically i follow the guidlines of uhc and my secondary picks up the cost that uhc doesnt cover but i dont go by their guidlines

    Anyone else NOT on a pre-op diet?

    My Surgeon is the head of the bariatric program and he requires the liquid diet not sure if its cuz hes old school or if it works for him. Also his stages progress quick I know I get a protein drink in the hospital day one

    My Surgeon requires a 2 week liquid diet of protein shakes

    Time off work - selfish?

    I'm so blessed to be working in a small practice where my work can do with out me for a while. I know I'm going to want to go back as soon as I can because of cabin fever but I can't stress my self out about working while recovering

    Sleep Apnea? :/

    I was diagnosed with sleep apnea before deciding on getting wls but my quality of life is so much better with my cpap there are masks that just go over your nose called the wisp and pico if your a stomach sleeper like I am. Also I have uhc and my hubby has bcbs both list osa as a comorbidy
