I am pooting myself to death! I feel like the little engine who could..and does! Does it come from swallowing air as I chew my food slower? I have had my band 5 weeks..no fill yet..

Please Can Someone Help me having Some serious Issues.

I don't think that these problems are being caused by your band. Have you been tested for fibromyalgia? I understand your confusion and worry. I could not take neurotin because it gave me similar symptoms to what you are experiencing. May God help you thru your ordeal. -
I became nauseated 3 wks earlier. Throwing up, belching. Went to ER and treated for possible bug. 1 wk later, back in ER, same thing. It never stopped. Had IV's, antibiotics, barium swallows, x-rays, catscan, couldn't find a cause nor a cure. Another trip to ER, then admitted into hospital. 3 days later, a GI doc says band needs to go. LAP-BAND®®®®® doc says that couldn't be it. I make the decision. 2 days later, I have it removed. I haven't thrown up since. I feel so much better. My band was poisoning me. Finally, after much distress and pain, my ordeal is over. Goodbye band after only 2 1/2 yrs.

What in the world am I doing continuing this lap band blog without my lap band? I suppose my main purpose is to give everyone insight on my journey. I still can't positively answer the question of whether my band has been worth the weight loss. I can say it made a difference in the amount that I was eating at one time. Although some cheat with the band, I rarely did. My progress has been all me. And a little help from the band. Most of my journey was slow and dull except for the last 3 weeks of my lap band's stay. I was so nauseous and dry heaves were painful for days and days. After a week in the hospital, band gone and no more sickness. What a way to end a journey. I pray all of you much success. I pray for me continued weight contentment.

It finally took a gastrointerologist to give me some sound advice. This after 3 ER docs, my lap band doc and his "associates" , and my family doc. I know the discomfort you are feeling. I was gravely sick for three weeks. My life had stopped. All I could do was belch, dry heave and live in discomfort.

YOU are sometimes your best doctor. I urge you to continue to gather legitimate answers to your questions. DON'T GIVE UP. Don't get down either. Be proactive in your health. Isn't that why we got the band in the first place? Keep us posted!

I'm glad that we have discussed your health further in private messages. I know how hard it was for me to decide whether or not my band needed to go. My band doc was almost mad at me, it seemed, when I told him my choice. I pray you find peace with your decision and good health in your near future.

I was told by my particular band doc that the carbonation would cause discomfort. I am not a carbonated drinker, but I do know of others who do drink coke and pepsi drinks, and it doesn't bother them. Good luck on your path!

Why anyone's body would just start this absorbtion of materials is anyone's guess. I wish I knew. A GI doc performed EVERY test to elleminate all other causes. I was left with the decision that the band removal was the only thing left.

Unfortunately, I did not meet my goal weight with the band. I lost 50 pounds and needed to lose 80.

My body started absorbing the plastics. I was checked twice for slippage and erosion. Band positioning was normal as well. No one knows the long term effects of this on every person. The band could stay for yrs in some and only for weeks in others. I was satisfied with my band up to this point. Some docs just aren't gonna tell you that it might evenually have to come out. I wanted to tell my story so others would have an educated, updated option when deciding on their band.

I recently had my band emptied completely because i thought i had caught a stomach bug. I have had the band since Nov 2007. I feel nauseated alot, dizzy, tired, achy, disoriented, and get anxious from feeling this way. I dry heave most of the mornings. I think I may be having a reaction to the band and materials. Help!

Doctor ordered a barium swallow after I had shared some of the unusual symptoms I have just started having. The swallow test showed that my food was slowing down(and drink) before it even reached the band. EGD showed that I was having esaughagial muscle spasms whenever I ate or drank. He is prescibing a new med to relax that muscle so I can be more comfortable while eating. I have lost 6 pounds in the last 3 months. Slow as it may seem, I'm still satisfied.

Got another fill Feb. 23 2009. I can finally say that the hunger pains haven't started back since the fill. I also lost 7 pounds in 3 mths. I've lost 43 pds with 35 to go. My body gives a whole new meaning to lose the weight slowly. Got banded 1 yr 3 mths ago, but that's ok. Things are looking up..thank goodness...I was getting awfully discouraged. Good luck everyone who reads this..I know what you are going through.

Right there with you...read my blogs..this has been an agonizing process...but I refuse to give up and so should you. Talk to your doc about it and get a really good fill that works the way it's supposed to. After a yr for me, and now I'm finally starting to feel the sweet spot.

a call to your insurance company would be helpful. Ask if they would cover it, how much of it and if there are specifications that you have to meet to get them to pay for it. Good luck to you.

I wish I could say that I am losing at a comfortable pace...nope..gained 6 pounds in the last six months. I wish I could say that I'm not as hungry as before..nope..I could eat the north end of a southbound mule some days, but most days, I don't. I have never had a love or addiction to food..most all of my weight has come from steriodal and antidepressants over 15 yrs. Do I make poor food choices? Of course, at times. I'm not sorry that I have the band, just dissapointed that I haven't had the success that others have had. I'll continue to get fills, speak truthfully to my doc and pray for the best in 2009.

4 fills no restriction here. I can totally relate. I keep thinking that there will be a morning I wake up and this band is going to feel tighter so I can be more resilient in watching what I eat. I know it's up to me but this surgery should be a tool. Right now it's seems like a waste. Tomorrow may be better for you and for me. Let's hope so.

I had my port moved into a better place..sliding up under my ribs wasn't a good place for it at all. To me, it feels like it was back in the place where it originally was in Nov 2007. Just hope it stays in place. Truthfully, this surgery hurts almost as bad (almost) as getting banded. Doc gave me a fill too. I hope this fill works. It has been six months since I have lost any weight. Well, it's been 24 hrs since I came home from the hospital and so far, I feel sore. Very sore. I'll get through this. Tommorrow's another day....

Last two visits to the fill doc didn't go so well. Needle couldn't go into the port...wrong position. It figures. My luck. I asked doc how often this happens. He tells me he has done hundreds of band surgeries and that I am the third to need a port fixed. It figures. My luck. Doc's office contacts insurance as necessary to see if they will pay for procedure. I'm STILL waiting. It figures. My luck. Do I sound a bit down? Perhaps so. I'm about to come up on my year anniversary with the band (Nov 07) and expected myself perhaps to be finishing up my last ten pounds. Instaead, I'm halfway. SO NOT FAIR..It figures. MY luck.
