I just wanted to start a thread to check in on people that had surgery in December. How is it all going? Is it everything you expected? Any road blocks? Maybe share some progress pics for motivation!!! -

Breaking through a stall.......Advice Please!
rockstar33 replied to rockstar33's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you so much for the advice. I have not done a good job of keeping measurements but I should probably step away from the scale for a few days. I have increased my exercise and intensity of exercise so I have been wondering if I should be eating more calories but that is such a scary thing for me. It's such a mental thing to break through years of restriction being the answer for weight loss and now trying to figure out what my body needs in order to lose and then what will it need to maintain. I find that to be very overwhelming and frustrating some days. I will feel " full" but not even eat half of a portion and then the next day feel like I am starving in between meals after finishing 3 ounces. I feel like I am up against this time line before my body goes into maintenance mode and this fear that it will happen before I have lost all that I want to lose. For now I will praise my current success and stay focused on my overall new lifestyle! -
Breaking through a stall.......Advice Please!
rockstar33 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have only been stalled for about 1 - 2 weeks but it's hard and scary to have the scale move and then come to an abrupt stop. I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on things they did that were successful at breaking the stall and restarting the weight loss? I know stalls are normal and everyone's bodies are different but did anyone have things that worked for them? -
I had surgery mid December and lost 30 pounds within the first 2.5 weeks. In the last week my weight has stayed the same or gone up a 1/2 pound. I know everyone speaks of stalls, but I was really hoping it would not happen to me. I am so scared that I will not lose any more weight and its getting frustrated that I am eating very little and following the plan but the scale is not moving. I know I need to get more protein in because I really detest all of the protein supplement options. But I have been drinking at least 1 protein shake a day. I am not hungry so I have to force myself to drink the shakes. If I add in the second protein shake will that really be the difference? Even though I am then adding in more calories and the nasty artificial sweeteners? Someone please tell me that the scale will start dropping again!

I need recommendations for Protein options. I am in the pre op liquid diet and cannot tolerate the Protein shakes. I am really sensitive to artificial sweeteners and cannot swallow another shake. I am concerned because I will need protein supplements for the rest of my life but I am starting to feel very discouraged that there are no protein options out there that I can swallow. I have heard about unjury but when I read those reviews people also say that they are disgusting. Anyone have protein options that they like?

I am really struggling with the sugar substitutes in the protein shakes that I have. Can anyone recommend a flavorless protein that works well mixed in broth or other options rather than the fake flavored shakes?

I am going into surgery in 2 weeks. What advice would you give yourself looking back? Has it been extremely difficult to maintain the new lifestyle long term? Any insight you wish you had last year ? -

What advice would you give to someone who is 7 months behind you? And what things do you think made you so successful and continue to make you successful? -

I am scared that I will not succeed. I am addicted to food. It is my crutch. What is it like to live without being able to eat all of the foods I love? I keep thinking will I miss out on eating if I travel to France or Italy? Or how about a cruise? And then I think.......this is exactly the problem. Why is that my major concern? Because food controls my life. Is it hard to wake up from surgery and think that you will never be able to eat certain foods again? Will I have a healthy relationship with food? What is it like to be successful with weight loss?

How many Pills after surgery
rockstar33 replied to rockstar33's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you all for your help. I have never had to take this many pills daily and am just concerned that it could be overwhelming especially to think it's for the rest of your life. It's a scary life decision. -
I am wondering how many different pills on average people are taking life long after surgery? Is it overwhelming? Expensive? Any info on meds/vitamins after surgery is greatly appreciated!!
