Shiny - My cousins and family have been asking me that question for the last 6 years. I'm actually a physician, and work in the hospital regular daytime hours and then every 4th night on call - so from 7am today until 1pm tomorrow... Sometimes, I can get a few hours of sleep, other times, I can't. Then repeat about every 4th night...for 5 years now. They limit our hours to 80 hours a week - that is the most I'm allowed to work. Fortunately, I'll be finished with all my training in 6 months, and I'll never have to work more than 24hrs in a row. But, a warning to all out there, don't ask me any medical questions... I only take care of patients that weight less than 15 pounds (in the Neonatal ICU)... One of the biggest things I've changed since the band is packing food for these shifts. I used to just eat whatever I could in the hospital and now I actually pack food for the whole time - lunch, dinner, snack, breakfast, and a second lunch. It has made all the difference in the world.

Oh my - having trouble getting to the gym. Was working on a presentation all weekend, and just didn't find the time. Now on call for 30 hour shift before leaving for Carmel, CA for a work conference. Hoping to work out at the beach while in California...determined to find the time!!!

Oh Dear God - I can't believe what I just did... As a celebration of making it into the 100's (YEA ME!!!!), I signed up for the Iron Girl Duathlon. It isn't until September, so I have plenty of time to train. It will be a 2 mile run, 22 mile bike, and 2 mile run - totaling 26 miles. I am excited and nervous all at the same time. I did my spinning class last week (45 minutes) and then ran a mile afterwards. I feel like it is a good start, but I have a LONG way to go! Wish me luck!
-
Just got back from my spinning class - LOVE IT!!! Did a mile on the treadmill afterwards... Even dragged 2 friends with me - hopefully, they will be willing to come back again.

I didn't make it yesterday because I went to a Hockey game. Can't go today because I am working a 30 hour shift. But...I will definitely be at they gym tomorrow for my spinning class - I LOVE IT.

Favorites of all time: The Sparrow - Mary Doria Russell The Children of God - Mia Doria Russell The Red Tent - Anita Diamant The Time Travelers Wife - long last name I don't remember (starts with an N) None are quick, but they are fabulous!!!

I'm not even close - just over half way there. 55 pounds lost, 50 left to lose...

My weekend exercise: Sat - 30 min on treadmill and 30 minutes of circuit weight training. Today - 4 hours of downhill skiing - this was my first time skiing EVER in my life other than the time 2 years ago I went and had a panic attack and couldn't get on the lift. I was sooooo proud of myself. As for my shifts, it is totally legal... unfortuntely. I'm not allowed to work more than 30 hours straight. This week is awful. Monday - 9 hour day Tues - Wed - 30 hour shift Thurs - 9 hour day Friday - 24 hour shift Sunday - 24 hour shift I'm hoping to get to the gym on Mon, Wed, Thurs, Sat, since those are the only days I'm not at the hospital overnight...wish me luck - I may not have a chance to write for a few days.

I worked a 30 hour shift yesterday to today and just got off at 1pm. Didn't get any sleep or exercise yesterday, and now so tired, I'm not sure I'll make it today. But, we'll see how I feel after my nap.

I'm trying to get motivated to go out in the freezing cold to go to a kickboxing class at the gym. I'm posting here that I am going, so I have to go... I think I'll get a protein shake from the gym bar when I am done as a reward (plus, I need the protein and calories today - it was a busy day and I haven't eaten as much as I should).
-
Yea! I made it today, even after working from 7am - 6pm. Got to the gym at 7pm and worked out for 45 minutes on the treadmill. Easy warm-up, slow jog, then sprint/walk intervals. Not bad... Taking the day off tomorrow to get a massage (YEA!!!!!) but will be back at the gym on Wednesday! Go VV's - Feel the Burn!!!

Countdown to your Bandiversary!
travel_anna replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't have a specific goal for my Bandiversary. But I do have a celebration! A friend of mine is turning 40 and wanted to go on a cruisefor her birthday. So I will be celebrating my Bandiversary on a cruise that goes to Jamacia, Mexico, Grand Caymen and Haiti. My goal is to feel good about my body, even though it isn't perfect yet. I've lost 50 pounds and have 50 left to lose. -
I haven't been to the gym since Thanksgiving. :tt2: Between all the holiday events and work and 2 weeks of vacation out of town last month, workouts just slipped away. It wasn't what I wanted...it just happened. But, I am going to the gym today! Mostly, my motivation is that I have to change my credit card that my dues are run from, but hey, it is getting me there! I found this last month that I actually missed working out. I just feel better when I get to the gym. I even made a new workout playlist of music for my iPod shuffle so that I have new fun things to listen to while running (or likely walking for a little while again).

Hi everyone - I just had my 9 month visit today, and I'm officially down 50 pounds in the last year (10 were before banding). I am completely excited. With that 50 pounds, I have a new NSV - bought a dress at banana Republic...yes...me?!?!?! I couldn't believe it. It's a purple XL knit dress with a fold-over neck and I look terrific in it. I don't think I've ever been able to wear a dress from that shop before!!! But just buying it keeps me motivated! I'm going to wear it to a Christmas concert in the cathedral on Dec. 11th. That brings me to this thread. Today I weighted 203 lbs. Down 50 and halfway to my final goal of 153. My goal for Christmas is to weigh less than 200 lbs. Does anyone else have Christmas goals that they are shooting for? Anna

I had that "just get through" phase this summer. I had to get an unfill because I was too tight and then I went on vacation right after that for 2 weeks. I could eat anything...and everything. I was grateful that I only put on 3 pounds... Hang in there, and just focus on all of the things you have accomplished. Down over 100 pounds...halfway to goal! You have a lot to be proud of. Sometimes we all need a little mental break. Just be sure it is a break and not a means toward self-sabotage.

Ezma - I'm probably a little different than most people. I actually love working out and do it often. Before surgery, I was walking 60 minutes 3x/wk. Now, at nine months, my workout schedule looks something like this. Mon - 60 minutes treadmill - intervals 3.5 - 7.0 mph. Tues - 60 min FIT class - combo strength and aerobics Wed - 60 minutes kickboxing Thurs - 45 minutes cycle/spinning class - just added last month - absolutely kicks my ass. Fri - day off Sat/Sun - Usually, I'll go one of the two days to walk on the treadmill. I definitely push myself when working out, and I think that doing the strength training has really helped with my skin while losing weight. Although I've only lost 50 pounds, my body is REALLY different... Keep moving! It will help eventually, I'm sure. Anna

Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving
travel_anna replied to Ezma's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had a great thanksgiving. Although I had to work Wednesday through Sunday at the hospital, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. My family ate at 2pm, and I got there around 3:30pm after work. I had a small piece of turkey, a scoop of sweet potatos (taste like candy) and some Beans. I did eat a slice of pumpkin pie - but overall, not too bad. It was funny thought, my big plate with a little bit of food on it. The whole family was looking at it, like, wtf? -
Hi all - I don't post much, but I do come to the boards often. Everyone is doing so well, I have a hard time knowing that I am such a slow loser. About 45 pounds compared with all these 70 - 100 pounds I am reading about. I just took my 7 month pictures, and although I am a really slow loser, I am losing. I started at 253, currently 208...hoping to break that 200 mark by Halloween. Here are my before and current pictures - horrible, tight outfit on purpose - hopefully, at some point, it will actually look good.

I've lost an elephant's ear and working towards a bale of hay. -
Never heard of it. Make sure they glide on whatever type of flooring you have in your house. Mine is all carpet, so I would doubt it would work on that.

Before Pics - What would you do differently if you could go back?
travel_anna replied to a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have actually done a combination of things. I have "official" one month increment pictures, of me in a tight fitting workout shirt with a lot of stretch and shorts. Since it is such a tight shirt, I can really see what is changing from month to month But, I also have pictures of me from some event each month (family trip, hiking trip, symphony concert, July 4th party, etc...) in regular clothes that show how I look. Good luck with your approval! -
Why am I still holding on to those clothes?
travel_anna replied to coolcrystal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have been dealing with this same thing the last few weeks. I have cleaned out my closet (twice) getting rid of clothes - only now instead of hanging in the closet, they are sitting on the big chair in my bedroom. I haven't worn any of them in months, but they are still just sitting there. I know I need to bring them to the Goodwill, I just haven't been able to get them out of my house. Maybe this week......
