    Pre-Op Liquid Test Diet

Spydr: Thanks for the feedback. So far today feels pretty good but I'm sure it's going to be rough. I am trying to think of it as a cleanse and that helps. Laura: I don't really think that my doctor is setting me up to fail. These are his guidelines and the goal is for me to lose weight this week. I could probably still do that with one small meal a day and the dietician told me to call if I'm having trouble. I am also able to eat crunchy vegetables and and that helped at lunchtime today. Like I said earlier, I don't have a problem with this requirement at all- I just was hoping for some tips to make it easier. :-) Thanks again.
  2. Hi Rica- I just wanted to offer you support. I also suffered from infertility though it was all me- DH had a normal sperm count. I also had late ovulation though and clomid with monitored IUI's was able to help with that. I conceived my son on the 4th try. Regarding your husband- Did the doctor offer you any advice or insight on what to do next? A low sperm count can often be improved by Vitamins, lifestyle changes and sometimes even surgery. I am a long time member on a fertility website called: www.tcoyf.com I suggest you go there to the message boards. There is a whole section on male factor infertility and plenty of women going through what you and your husband are going through. Take care.

    Pre-Op Liquid Test Diet

Thanks for your replies Jacqui and Emily- Jacqui: It's funny but I didn't think of it that way at all. I really like my surgeon in fact and he has a lap band himself. He told me that he has had too many people show up for surgery with a weight gain and has had to turn them away so this is a way for him to see who is serious about real lifestyle changes and not an easy fix. He is of the mindset that it's VERY important to have the liver shrink before surgery. It makes sense to me on some levels. Emily: I also think it's sadistic. LOL My DH just reminded me though that while it will be tough it means less weight that I have to lose later. I am just trying to think of it that way. Anyone else have any suggestions about things they have done to make it through the pre-op liquid diet?

    Has anyone read this book?

I have read it several times now and I have found it to be incredibly helpful. The information is easy to read and understand and it helped steer me in the direction of wanting the band.

    Sleep Study?

My surgeon requires that everyone has a sleep study done before he will do lap band surgery. Is this common practice? I really don't believe that I have sleep apnea. My husband does have it and I know what all of the signs/symptoms are. The problem is that my health insurance just denied the sleep study and I am not sure how to proceed.

    Anyone with IR or PCOS

I have PCOS and IR too. I have only had my initial consult with the surgeon but he told me that I am a prime candidate for lapband. I am going to choose to believe him on this one!! I go back in 2 weeks for lots of tests and a trial 5 day fast. I plan on having the surgery in January if all goes as planned. Good luck!
  8. Hi- I am new to this board and just had my consult 3 weeks ago. I am 34 years old, weight approx 270 and have PCOS as well. My surgeon told me that some of his best successes have been with PCOS patients so your post surprised me. My next appt is November 9th though and I am going to be sure and ask him some more specifics. Thanks!
