Knockouts - Six Month Progress Status
PeachesPJ replied to HeatherO's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had my 6 month two days ago. I have been stuck playing with the same 5 lbs 215 -220 for a month now. I had a fill of .5cc on the 14th. The dr asked me what I ate for dinner the night before and I told him, 2 hot dogs with bun and small handful of chips. HE FREAKED!! he said I should only be able to eat 1/2 a dog. I told him, in the old days it would have been 6 dogs with bun, so I was very pleased. Anyway, still trying to get past the platue of this 5 lbs. I am only 4 lbs from the 50lb lost mark!!! -
Congrats Chrisann!!! I went last month for my 2nd fill and was told NO! I had lost 12lbs in 6 weeks and that is what DR wants. But, I go on Monday and I have lost only 4 lbs in 5 weeks, so I am going to get a fill this time. I feel great with my progress, I am holding out on new clothes till I get toward my goal more. Luckily, I have been boxing up my smaller clothes as I "grew".

btw, you will have to do the 6 month MD supervised visits prior too. BCAL requirement.
-
No Diet prior, but we weren't that much overweight. My wife has BCAL and they paid most, but she is also secondary with my ins that paid 100%, so no cost, except some of the prior stuff. My band took 40 mins and I stayed overnight. I have sleep Apnea and believe that is why. If you haven't been tested for that, you will. Will be able to find out everything at the consult and don't be afraid to ask questions, no question is a dumb one .

Perfct, I am from TTown and my wife and I used Dr Bilton. She had the RNY and I have the Lapband. Requirements of course depend on your insurance. I suggest you call his office and schedule a seminar. That is the first thing and they only do 1 a month. Beverly is his nurse and will be the one that you converse with the most. Also, they have a support group that meets every 3rd thursday at DCH in Willard Hall. Starts at 6pm. LOTS OF INFO at these. We have people that have had both surgeries and people just checking it out. Wife and I have had NO problems. She is 6 months out and lost 70lbs I am 5 months a lost 40 lbs. Hope to see you at the Jun 19th group meeting. Its called Genesis.

Band, where you from? There is a great DR here in Tuscaloosa. Dr. Bilton of University Surgical Associates. -
unfortunately, I don't have a wife that will pleasure in that way. So, it was about a 5-6 days when I get better...BUT T.O.M came upon us ARRRR.. But, I have to say. My wife had RNY 12/19/07 and I was Banded 1/28/08.. together we have lost 80lbs and that is the size of a 10 yo!!! Sex after is sooooooooooooo much better now.

I too am addicted to this show, but of late, I am thinking it is sooooo much scripted and rigged. Are you aware that the scales they get on at the end of the show are FAKE? not even scales. They all weight in separately with the producers earlier and they don't see or know the weight. What keeps the producers from setting up a GOOD ending??? I agree with the AD placements and in show commercials. I laughed the other night with the W.W. oatmeal. I hope they are getting paid for the commercials they do. Another thing, how can they be off work for 4-6 months at a time without getting paid? I know there is NO WAY I could do that and not be guaranteed to win the 250,000. I would love to know what is REALLY going on there! 6 hrs a day exercising?? Just 1 challege a week. Gee TAKE ME PLEASE...oh wait. I have the lapband and don't need it anymore
-
Yes, it is quite normal. I lost 14 lbs in the first 5 days myself. Its from being on the liquids and shocking you system IMO. Good luck and don't cheat. You will get great results.

PeachesPJ replied to Banded08's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ladies, what are you eating to get the 1200??? I cant get that much in and eat more the the 3-4 onces right now...... -
I had my 1st fill yesterday afternoon. I was 6 weeks out. I had a good brunch before going to the doctors. He added 1cc to the 3cc already in the band from surgery. I am guessing most of that is in the tubing going from the port to the band itself. I tried to get him to tell me what band and size I give, but he skirted the answer for some reason. I am guessing that since I have 4 cc, must be one of the 10 cc bands. I am going to try and get the nurse to tell me next time. He also told me not to come back for 6 weeks??? I am not hungry this first day while I am on liquids. Will have to wait a couple to days to see.
-
Wow, Kalia, your doing good with 36 lbs lost. I won't get my next for 6 weeks, which is a suprise. I guess if I don't lose any weight, or its very slow I can call and get one. We will have to see. I feel full most all day, but, like most others, I am hungry before bed!!!
-
I am down 3 lbs since I got my fill on monday. OF course, I was on liquids the last 2 days. Eating Tuna for lunch today and fill a little more restriction then before.
-

That's what I am thinking also Sharon.

Chrisann, I think I saw somewhere you are going to the Bahamas? IF that is correct then you are flying. I have heard from other forums, that the band has to be de-salined and I know you are getting another fill before you leave. Have you heard anything to this nature? I don't know why the saline would have to be removed other then maybe expanding and closing off the stomach? Just curious, my support group couldn't give me a good answer, yes or no. Have fun!!! PJ

oh boy....not looking forward to that!!!!! I use to have a growy/sist<?> on my esgothis<?> that would cause me to choke, just before my stomach. I would have to get it back upby trying to throwup. I had that fixed about 5 years ago and it has been great. Don't really want to start that again. Is it all caused by eating too much or too fast?
-
Whats this "sliming"??? I haven't read or heard anything about slime?
-
I am doing good myself. I have had the constipation problem since day one, but I too have added the fiber. I had that problem before and should had kept taking my fiber pills. I am down just the same 14 lbs I started with right after the surgery. I don't even know what calories I am getting. I guess I should start a log. I am always "crawling" in my stomach. I too don't know how to get 1200 calories with just 4 ozs of food??? I will be 2 weeks out next week and start back at the Y for some exercise.
-
I am 6 days too. Lost 14 quick lbs, but I haven't had a good BM yet and its keeping me from getting in enough liquids. MY DR put me right on full liquids when I came home. That's not much more other than yogurt and pudding and cream of soups. I am a disappointed CUBS fan but will remain loyal.

I was banded Monday morning and i had to stay the night in the hospital. Came home about noon on tuesday and went straight to bed. Never can sleep in the hospital. My doctor requires all his lapband patients to stay. I could leave anytime I wanted the next morning. The only pain I had was the gas pain in my left shoulder and the stomach seemed bloated. I was able to keep liquids down without a problem, but not much of it. I was walking as soon as I could get awaken. I was walking at 330 am too. Right now, 2 days post, I still have gas that I am able to pass more and more. I am on a full liquid till I see Dr on Monday. I was able to sleep on my back in the bed for the start, that was good. It actually helps with the gas while laying down. I was telling the wife yesterday with the uncomfortness "what have I done, why did I do this". But I know why!! I am going to wait a few more days to get on the scales. Hope the other 28thers are doing well. PJ
