So I just had my first experience with dumping. Rapid heart rate, dry heaving, dizziness, and diarrhea. Here's what I don't get, it was from taking to big of sip of water. What the heck? Anyone else had this?

Happy day. My insurance finally saw the light and approved me. I feel like I have won the war. I am so excited to start this new life. One step closer. Now I am just waiting on a date. I can't believe it is really going to happen.
-
Wow it is official. Congrats!
-
No not at all. I just consider it a bump in the road. I am still positive that things will improve again. It is just going to take time and lots of patience. I wish you the best of luck. You deserve this chance at a better life.

I am doing ok now. Unfortunately I had some complications. You always think I will be fine those things won't happen to me. But sometimes they do. I won't stress you out with the details. Just know that you will probably have some hiccups along this journey. I thought once I was done fighting with insurance things would get easier. It hasn't. There is always opposition just in different forms. Don't let anything stop you from achieving your dream.

Fantastic!!! Your on your way.

I had surgery on May 26th. The first two days were pretty rough but I am feeling much better. Still a little weak but excited to start this new life. Thank you to everyone who has been so supportive on this sight. I have started cottage cheese and some strained soups. Any other suggestions on this soft liquid diet phase?

Anyone ever tried a pressure cooker? My sister who had WLS a year ago swears by it. She says it makes her vegetables soft but keeps the nutrients and makes her meats tender and moist. I am a little nervous to use it. I would love to hear if anyone has tried it and some recipes.

I am 8 days out and all of a sudden I keep getting hiccups. Only about 3 or 4 and then they stop but not fun. Anyone else had this or know what would be causing it?

I think it is actually when I drink. I am going to try and take smaller sips and see if that helps. So how are you doing?

Great suggestions. I will give it a try. -
Best of luck. I am 5 days post op and already feeling pretty good. The first few days are rough. But know that things get better. You can do this. My thoughts will be with you on the 3rd.

Surgery date is May 26th. Yippee!!! I am six days in on my pre diet. It's not to bad but I am so tired. By dinner time I am ready for bed. Hope I get a little energy back I have a lots of things to get ready before Thursday. I haven't been to nervous yet but I am sure that will come. Thanks for being so supportive it is amazing how much bariatric pal helps. Just knowing others are going through the same thing helps.

I am so excited for you. Sounds like you are doing great. I am scheduled for surgery in 5 days. Can you tell me what that first week post op was like and when were you able to be up and about with your regular routine?
-
I started my pre op diet today too. Funny thing is I had to take my daughter to an appointment. I had two hours of free time on my hands and truly did not know what to do. Normally I would have gone somewhere to eat. Now just sitting in the car surfin bariatric pal. Lol. Maybe a walk around the park. Hang in there. We can do this!

I was expecting a call to finalize my date at the end of June, instead they told me to start my pre op diet. There was a cancellation and so they are moving my date up to May 26. Can't believe it. So excited!!! Anyone else on the 26th?

Hang in there Dawnie. My insurance just keep adding more and more requirements. I never thought I would see the end. But I made it and you will too.

Anti-inflammatories off limits
kimsport replied to kimsport's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the suggestions. I will ask my surgeon about these. -
Has anyone else had their physician state you should never take NSAIDS after your surgery? I know they can be hard on your stomach but I am curious why I will never be able to take them again. Also I take prednisone occasionally for asthma. Will this fall into the same category?

Makes sense. Thanks. Hopefully I see an improvement in my asthma post surgery. -
Newbie! (Or is it NOOB?)

So sorry to hear about the pneumonia. Work hard on the breathing exercises. They are miserable but help a ton. As soon as the antibiotics start kicking in you will feel way better.
