  1. were you a lower BMI before surgery? I've known a few people who were on the lower end of high bmi pre-op and they were only able to lose like 20 lbs total. Either way what is your heart telling you to do?
  2. I am so sorry you are struggling. This surgery is not an easy one at all! How far post op are you?
  3. I am almost two years post op. Everything has been great! I met my goal weight at 8 months post op. Ive maintained the weight. I haven't had any serious problems post op. 3 days ago I got the feeling of something being stuck in my throat and under the left side of my rib cage. I have constant dull stomach ache. When I eat or drink it gets much worse. It's got me a little more concerned since it's not letting up. So my question is should I contact my PCP or my weight loss dr?

    Bruises

I am 8 months post op and I'm seriously covered in bruises. I have 16 on body right now. I've never been one to bruise easily until recently. My dr tested me 2 months ago for vitamin deficiencies but everything was good. However I am not the best about taking my vitamins. Especially this past week being on vacation. Anyone else have bruising issues after surgery?
  5. I am 9 days pre-period and I feel like I'm starving! Day 9 was always my eat everything in sight day pre-op. I had surgery 4 months ago and this is the first time I've wanted to eat everything. I have held strong all day, but I am so terrified I'm gonna slip, eat a piece of chocolate or some junk food and gain a ton of weight. I know having one piece won't make me gain all my weight back but I know I would feel so guilty if I ate something bad that wasn't on my meal plan. I've done so good sticking to my surgeons diet this is just freaking me out.

    Atkins Lift products ?

I tried the lemon flavored protein, it was AWFUL! It also dried my mouth out really bad. I am 4 months post op and still haven't found a protein drink I don't have to force myself to drink. So I think I am just really protein picky!

    Low potassium

Thanks for the info! I eat a lot of yogurt, tunA, and beans. I'll have to focus on eating more of the high potassium foods for a while.

    Low potassium

Thank you for your reply. I didn't realize there were other options.
  10. I went in for my 5 month post op bloodwork. It came back I have low potassium. I was put on a supplement for the next two weeks. I have been so sick since starting the supplement. Does anyone have experience with low potassium and supplements?

    Dumping Syndrome

I've had the dumping syndrome 4 times since surgery 3 months ago. I cannot take really big pills, I can't eat spicy food, or greasy food (I tried two bites of breakfast sausage, never again!)

    Working out

So I've already emailed my surgeon and my pcp, I am waiting to hear back. Mostly it won't be until Monday. So while I wait I thought maybe I could get a little insight from all you helpful people here. I have mitral valve regurgitation. I take heart medication to slow my heart rate Bc I was having insane racing of the heart. Two weeks ago I saw my pcp Bc the medication was making me dizzy. Well come to find out my blood pressure was dropping to low levels 92/58 and my heart rate was 42 Bpm. My dr lowered my dosage, I had signed up for the gym the day before and asked my pcp if I had any restrictions for working out. She said anything should be fine but I should wait to take my morning dosage of medication until after my workout. I have been following all her orders to the T. Here it is two weeks later I'm still having bouts of severe dizziness throughout the day. My trainer has me doing 40 minutes of cardio 5 days a week, 3 days of weights. I have felt awful for almost 3 weeks now. I feel like I am sick however I am not sick. After every workout I feel extremely nauseous, and usually come home shower and fall asleep the minute I sit down until I have to get the kids from school. My husband thinks I am hitting the gym too hard, for the amount of calories I get in a day. I am 3 months post-op and still only able to get about 500 calories a day. I try to eat more but I just can't, I start feeling like I am going to vomit. I get my protein and most of my water. I feel like Bc I was feeling this way before working out it could still be the heart medication even tho For the most part my BP and pulse are good. But the whole gym and lack of calories makes sense as well. Anyone have any advice?

    Morning nausea

I am 3 months post op today, I still have plenty of mornings with morning nausea. Zofran is my best friend. It was really bad for the first 8 weeks. It's eased up some since around the 8 week mark. Definitely try to get some Zofran!
  14. I had surgery on 10/21/15. I'll be 3 months out a week from today. Things are going great. I've blown thru all my transition clothes and have had to start buying new stuff to tide me over until my size. At almost 3 months out I've lost 48 lbs. I feel amazing. However I still see myself as fat. Today I saw a friend I hadn't seen in about a month. First thing she said to me was "WOW! You are getting so tiny! You look amazing!" Of course it felt good that someone has noticed all my hard work, but I'm still trying to process it. I have 40 lbs until I reach my goal weight. I keep wondering if I'll still see myself as fat once i reach my goal weight. At what point did it all really sink in for y'all?
