I am 2 months out and still have morning nausea. However I've had a very sensitive tummy for years. The morning nausea is worse now than before but with some ice water first thing it helps.

Having gastric bypass reversed
Ilovecats1985 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the sleeve, but a friend of mine has the gastric bypass. She told me she chose the gastric bypass Bc her dr told her if she doesn't like it she can have it reversed. Is that true??? My dr told me sleeve and bypass were permanent and non-reversible. Has anyone else been told they could have it reversed if they don't like it? -
I'm in so much pain here. I've been so constipated for days. I've taken the max amount of stool softeners daily and the past 3 days I've taken two more than the daily dose age says. I've been drinking plenty of water as well. My stomach is hurting pretty bad, can someone please suggest something that might help get things moving again???

How far out are you?6 weeks out. But I also have irritable bowel syndrome, I think that's why it's as bad as it is. Bc one week I'll have really bad diarrhea then the next I'll be so constipated I'll be in tears. It's been that way for at least a year. -

Fleet enemas did nothing. I ended up having my husband go get me some laxatives, within 3 hours they were working. But I really don't want to take a laxative everyday to go. I see my surgeon on Tuesday so I am going to talk to him about what to do. thanks for all the advice! -
I am 6 weeks post op. I threw up for the first time today. My lunch didn't agree with me. This is probably a dumb question but how soon after throwing up should I try to eat again? Or should I wait until the next meal time?

Throwing up
Ilovecats1985 replied to Ilovecats1985's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think the food was way to spicy. I've even tons of chicken and pinto beans with no problem but this bowl was really spicy. My other thought was I might be coming down with the stomach bug my family was passing around. However I don't feel sick. I definitely planned on keeping it light. -
1 week post op...350 calories?
Ilovecats1985 replied to HopeandAgony's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 5 weeks post op and lucky if I get 400 calories a day. I just focus mostly on my water and protein intake. After 3 small (1/8 cup) meals a day I feel completely stuffed and the only thing I can fit in my little stomach is water. My dr said not to worry so much about how many calories as long as I am getting my protein at all 3 meals and drinking my 2 shakes. I am following the meal plan he gave me, but after my protein I'm done. I can maybe get one bite of veggies or fruit. He said its normal and it will get easier as time goes. -
I am 5 weeks post op and I'm still exhausted all the time. Well I wake up (I've been a morning person for as long as I can remember) with the energy of a child, I take full advantage of that. By noon I'm completely wiped out! I'm usually in bed, asleep by 9. I figure it's normal. I just had major surgery and I'm lucky if I get 400 calories a day, it's gonna take some time to get back to normal.

When did y'all start using straws again? I have found its so much easier for me to get all my water and protein in if I use a straw. I am 1 month post op.

My dr told me to start taking my regular vitamins (no more chewables). However every time I take the multivitamin, I almost instantly start feeling nauseated. I get the hot face, the watering mouth, tight throat. Within 5 minutes I'm having terrible diarrhea. Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas as to why I'm feeling this way? *ive emailed my surgeon, I'm waiting to here back from him.*

The chewables taste awful and are the size of four quarters stacked. But they didn't upset my stomach. I guess I'm gonna be switching back to them until I hear from my surgeon.

Thank you, I had no idea such a thing even existed. I'm gonna have to try it.

Is that something that has to be prescribed?

Protein Shakes - Do I have to?
Ilovecats1985 replied to Jackiesleeved2015's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the exact same problem. I would seriously cry when I had to drink my protein Bc I made me feel bad and it tasted awful. I tried the nectar and life has been good since then. Those isopure clear drinks were disgusting and made my stomach hurt so bad. -

I plan on talking to my dr about this when I see him in December but I just wanted to see what everyone else has been told about the flu shot. I haven't had the flu in well over 10 years. I even worked one flu season at an urgent care. I survived without getting even the slightest cold. I haven't had a flu shot in at least 20 years. When I was in the hospital the nurse kept telling me the dr recommends waiting 6 weeks to get the flu shot and the first year post op they highly recommend it. I forget to ask at my 2 week check up and my dr never mentioned it. I volunteer in my kids classrooms all the time. Yesterday kids were coughing and sneezing all over me???? I am sure my immune system probably took a bit of a hit having surgery. So I was wondering what your surgeons suggest when it comes to the flu shots?

I just wanted to share this little bit with y'all. This forum has been such a huge help for me thru this journey. One thing I picked up on thru this forum was the "buyers remorse" and the struggle. I was so terrified I would go thru this myself. I am 3 weeks post op, I attend my monthly support group last night. Everyone was so excited to see me and ask how the surgery and recovery has been. One girl asked me if had regretted it at all in the past 3 weeks. I can honestly say I have not regretted it. I told her, I have good days and bad, I struggle with my food and protein intake from time to time, i am always tired, the back pain is something else, I have been overly ridiculously emotional at times(bless my BFF and husband for putting up with me) but I have not regretted it! I think the support I have found here and thru my support group have been a very bright spot on my dark days on this journey! This past week I have felt amazing! thank y'all for being supportive. I recommended this app at my support group last night. And for those of y'all on here struggling if you don't attend a support group please look for one and give it a try. The first time I went it was a requirement for the surgery process. I thought it was gonna be pointless and a waist of time. I've been going every month since that night 6 months ago! It's the best thing I could have done for myself. Those of you struggling I hope you find some relief soon.

We have people who are 5+ years post op. Our group is for pre-op and post-op. I really love hearing from the people who are years post-op. -

There is a couple in my group and they think it's their hour to talk about them only, their relationship, their kids, everything. They can get down right rude by interrupting people all the time. However they haven't been there the last two months. I have to say they have been the best two months Bc everyone gets a chance to share, ask questions, and so on. -

Maybe you should look for a group outside of the one offered by your medical team. -
I had an awful time with premier as well! I've switched over to the nectar iced lemon tea mixed with diet lemonade and I rarely have any problems now. The first two weeks were really tough with protein. But once I tried nectar things have been so much better.

I've been getting the 60 grams of protein I need daily. Today I'm really having a hard time getting it in. I'm at about 50 grams. I can't eat or drink anything else. I feel like I'm gonna be sick. I am stressing so hard right now Bc I didn't get my needed amount. Is one day and 10 grams less something I really need to stress about? Someone please tell me I'm overacting!

I am still in the purée phase so I don't have a lot of food to mix with protein powder but I do use about a scoop throughout the day adding it to everything I eat.
