    this is so hard

I just bought a subliminal CD off of ebay to help with sugar cravings. It is meant for low carb dieters. http://cgi.ebay.com/ULTRASONIC-SUBLIMINAL-LOW-CARB-DIET-Atkins-South-Beach_W0QQitemZ140103395146QQihZ004QQcategoryZ36456QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem They also have one for food addiction that I thought about, but want to see how this one goes first. Will let you know if I start craving Water and not wanting sweets. (One can only hope.)

    this is so hard

Monica, I know EXACTLY how you feel. I am a sugar addict. I can get off of it for a while, and then like a junky searching for crack, I go to get my next "fix". I have even started hiding food from my husband... which is really bad, and something I have not done in the past 13 years we have been married. But I hate the disappointed look he gives me when I take a Pringle, or eat ice cream, I feel like a total failure too. But I have found that IF I can make it to day four totally off sugar, I can go for YEARS (Literally, I have done it before) without it. But one slip, and I am off again. I can not have one bite of bread/sugar/candy/ice cream/etc or the old addiction comes up. I have even thought about needing a week long rehab program for myself, but I don't think those exist. IF you can start low carb before your fill, get the fill, and then stay low carb for three days after the fill, you may have a chance. That is what I do, and that is why I am going for a fill on Monday. I MUST lose weight before my one year mark, so I MUST get off sugar. Then I must NOT look at sugar again. It is too hard for me to fight. Some people can do it, but I can not. Wishing you lots of luck, and thank you for posting. I thought I was the only one out there fighting the same demons.
  4. When I am stuck, I feel it. It kind of sits there, some people call it the golf ball feeling. When I was stuck on a cashew (which I don't recommend eating) I felt it for days. When it passed, it was wonderful. Believe me when you are stuck, you feel it. And I can get stuck, or get that pain, on liquids first thing in the morning. Just stop, wait, and try again later. Good luck...

I have TRS active care. Was 305 before surgery, 300 on surgery day (highest 320+). I am about 280 and go up and down from 262 to 280 depending on if I eat carbs or not. Carbs go straight to my hinney. Well, I have found a flaw in my wino plan. My back is killing me tonight, and since I had my 4 oz of wine before dinner (South Beach Diet says that is the amount to have) I am afraid to take any meds. I can not lay down for anything. So my DH goes, "well, go have more wine, maybe that will help." So now I am drinking more wine to see if my back will relax enough for me to sleep. I am going to end up in AA... Going for another fill on Monday. I must lose at least 50 pounds before June, or I am going to take my bottle of wine and jump off the nearest cliff. I hope that they can fill me some more, cause I am TIGHT in the morning and going in at 9 am. Wish me luck...

Tornado Shelters ~ Underground or Saferoom

Heck, my hubby says he is going to push me out the door to see if the house will fall on me (guess he is saying I am the wicked old witch). In the 34 years I have been in Tx, I have not seen a tornado (knock on lots of wood). Hope to never come across one. My Dad used to say, if we had one just bend over and kiss your a$$ goodbye, 'cause if it is going to get you it will get you no matter where you are. In the future, DH and I hope to build a beautiful little Hobbit Hole so we don't have to worry about such things. Check it out: http://www.lifelinedomes.com/underground_domes.htm

    Carbs

Oh you can eat carbs... but you shouldn't. Complex carbs are ok, but those devil simple sugars that go down easy are the devil!!!!
  8. I wish I had known it did not help with sweet cravings, and that sweets go down easy. I thought all would be cured with my band... but it wasn't.

    Last Meal Syndrome

I had the last meal syndrome in the last 6 months I was waiting for the approval/surgery date. I gained a ton... and now I am paying for it... so be careful. With that said make it a foot long sub and say, "this bite is for Julie, and this bite is for Poodles." I miss bread...

IMO: Celebs have pressure on them one way or the other and have to do right by themselves. Just think if you were in their shoes and they had WLS. Then someone somewhere would go: Well Madam X had this surgery so my Mommy did it too and died from it. It is all Madam X's fault, Lets sue!!! Heck, bands have been sued for their lyrics. People are crazy and maybe she did not want to be responsible for "making" anyone do the same thing she did.
  11. I bite mine into smaller bits. My daily capsule, I just swallow. My vitamins, I open up or puncture into a mass of goo and mix in a little chocolate whey protein shake mix. My gel caps make the liquid. Then I put it all in a spoon and "chase" it with something good, like milk or V8. Tastes absolutely horrible without that chaser. (Hold your breath and swallow!)

    Stomach bug and the band

I have the pills and the suppositories... just in case. I have had the stomach bug two times since banding. One time the phenegren did not even help and I was praying I did not slip. I didn't, thank God. I did drink some ginger ale to help settle things down, and that helped (I know we are not suppose to have it).
  13. Ok Megan heres the plan. Schedule the appointment during your time of month, drink water, put on a heavy sweater, and optional ankle weights. Wear your heavy shoes, leave your keys in your pockets, with your purse on your shoulder. That is 10 pounds easy.
  14. Just my two cents... why not drink a lot of Water and eat a heavy meal before weighing in. That would put on the pounds, but in a temporary way. Honestly wish I had to worry about this, I was at a bmi of 48 so I had nothing to worry about.
  15. What do you think is the largest obstacle teaching Elementary. I am a secondary teaching thinking about switching to 3rd grade in TX. Already certified and ready to go, but thought I should see if the grass is greener on the other side of the fence.

I just realized, after drinking two bottles of wine this weekend... that I like wine. But, I think I like wine because it is sweet. I even looked up the carb count tonight after trying to get ANYTHING down because I was so hungry and PBing twice this evening. And I figured out... wine has carbs. About 6 carbs for a 5 oz serving. But, as you can see 2 bottles does not equal 6 carbs. (I am not even going to try and figure out how many carbs it has.) I drank a little before lunch, a little before dinner, and a little just to try the new bottle. Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday are all a blurr (not really). It does help me eat solid protein, but I don't know if I want to be a wino if it makes me go off the carb band wagon. This leaves me with a delimma. I can not have coffee according to the diet books, and wine works, but I guess I should not have it either. I am confused on what to do. ***edit*** ok I could not stand it. 750 ml is roughly 25 oz, so I had two bottles, and roughly 60 carbs from wine. Not too bad....***hiccup

    Gastric banding and lapband..

Look up the ICD 9 code and call them back. It is on this site somewhere, I will try and find it for you. When I requested the band, I put the codes on it too.

I love the diet peach tea by nestea. And, of course Water. I still drink coffee, and chai tea is great.

Yea, so far the Lambrusco is my favorite... because of the fizz. My DH said last night, "do you ever stop to think that the band is doing its job. Yeah, you might get stuck after the second bite, but isn't that what is suppose to do?" If you think about it, he is right...

    need a talipia recipe

Any fish can be done with the following receipes, and they all taste good: Pan fry (olive oil): 1) rosemary, salt & pepper to taste. Since my last fill, I have to take off the rosemary if the sprigs are too large. (You could add garlic and parmesan to this too for a change.) 2) garlic pepper, S & P to taste. 3) Lemon juice/slice, S & P to taste. Microwave: 1) Cover with italian dressing, cook in microwave for a few minutes (thick salmon takes about 4 minutes). Also works well with Greek, and Olive oil/vinegar dressing. Just be sure to cover with a paper towel. Grill: Wrap fish and herbs in foil and throw on the grill right at the end. Fish has been my safe food, so I try and keep it light and tasty. Ms. Dash has about 20 different combos now, and I have tried each and every one of them on fish. I like tipalia, orange roughy, tuna, and salmon. All work with the seasonings above.

Pee before dinner Regina, that way he can't say anything. Or ask him to watch you pee if that will make him happy. Men are so stupid sometimes. Hope you are feeling better all. With all the crazyness going on with our bands, we deserve a GOOD day.

Yes, I have figured out that a few ounces of red wine about 10 minutes before I eat, allows me to eat. Coffee does the same thing... but is not as fun. I went to the World Market today and bought some wine. I now have 4 bottles on my counter waiting to be explored. I don't usually drink wine, so I bought Shiraz, A blend kind, Merlot, and Lambrusco. Figure I will find one I like... or have fun trying.... ****hiccup***

Oh yes, I am in the closet. My DH knows, two other friends know, one co-worker knows and that is it, (Besides one parent, that is on the board....Regina.). But no body is telling. I have survived birthdays, Christmas, and work meetings since June... Yea!!! Hope it stays that way. I figure I will tell when I start losing weight. I am not exactly the poster child for the lap band right now.

The best investment I have made is in the personal blender at walmart. It was about 16.00 and it can travel with you. I would recommend taking some canned soups to blend, (my fav is clam chowder), and some shake mix. Most hotels have ice to mix in with the shake. I ate today btw all... shake for breakfast, shake for lunch, pasta sampler at Luigis (about 3 bites EACH of the three things on the sampler). I did have a coffee before I tried anything, and I have survived yet another "business" dinner without being discovered. Yea!!!
