    Success Diet for Bandsters!!

So basically eat only meat and drink protein drinks with under 2 carbs or what???? What is the max carb count?
  3. Well my two week Myocel/low carb diet officially starts tomorrow, even though I started the low carb on the 1st. I went to the store this morning and was picking up my "supplies" and thought that I should share this receipe. Don't know if I have before, but it is summer and needs to be shared again. It was originally a Low Carb gaspacho (sp?) receipe, but I Water it down more and use cream cheese instead of sour cream. Small Batch: In blender mix a large cucumber (peeled and de-seeded), one small garlic clove, 2 oz cream cheese (softened in microwave about 30 sec.), 1/2 tsp chicken bouillion (I use Knorr), 1/2 tsp white vinegar, and white pepper to taste. Water until it is as thin as you want it. Large Batch: I usually make a large batch with 4 cucumbers, whole pack of cream cheese, 2-3 garlic cloves, 2 tsp chicken Soup, 2 tsp vinegar, and white pepper and put it in a large tea pitcher. Let sit overnight in the fridge to let the flavors blend. I also put it in empty (washed out) water bottles and take it to work. I have been making it for years. It is light yet filling. So happy that this is a thing I will be able to keep post band!!!! If you like V-8 you should like this one!

Really stupid things people have shared with you

Stupid things people say: I get tons of things everyday from Teenagers. One time a girl was telling me about a soap opera that was on tv and someone was given a lethal injection. Just then she was pardoned and some one gave her an antidote. The question was, " is that real? If so I want to get the antidote." And then from me: I think I found what is below the shot in the shower. Don't tell my hubby or Jack I have this pic! Yummy! Vin.bmp

    Explain your name on LBT...

Now some things are obvious Debbie1993 has to be a Debbie born in 1993. Bandedforever loves the band (sorry if someone actually has that name... not picking on anyone). But some names are off the wall. How did you choose your name? I'll go first: Origin of Poodles: I am a big LOTR geek. Was a Miriel at one time but was turned into a Poodle during an online game by a wizard. (Yes I am a geek) My so called "friend" said I was hyper and annoying like a Poodle, so everyone started calling me Poodles. The "Tricksy" was added as an adjective, because I made excellent moves in the game (I assume). My hubby says it kinda sounds like a porn star name. I have had it for so long now, I just keep it... because I am a little hyper and annoying. The hot pink is just me. Funny thing is I have a Schnauzer and a Mutt. I don't really care for Poodles. Ok now... PlunderBunny... Vinesqueen and the rest... fess up, how and why do you have your name...

    Mind Crush... Ode to Jack...

    Bet Jack doesn't bat for the other side.... But I would "bat" "bat" my big blue eyes at him. :kiss2: :kiss2: :kiss2: :kiss2: :kiss2: :kiss2: :kiss2: :kiss2: :kiss2: :kiss2: :kiss2: :kiss2: :kiss2: :kiss2: :kiss2: :kiss2: :kiss2: :kiss2:
  7. My hubby is on Rhinocort for his allergies. I did go pick up my Singular. Left the Zyrtec (my ins sucks, and I don't get paid until the 28th). Will see if Singular and claritin work. I am also going to do my breathing treatments like directed. I MUST get this under control before the 5th.
  8. I have been fighting a cough since January. Got rid of it before my appendix was removed, and then it came back. Made it thru that surgery ok, but did not have a cough then. My doc put me on a steroid dose pack, KETEK (been on it for almost 20 days now), and Albuterol when needed (using it now). He wants to make sure it does not develop into pneumonia like before. Cold seems to set off my cough. I can breathe fine most of the time, but when the air conditioner kicks on at night I start to cough. Dr. is thinking that I am developing asthma or "reactive airway disease", and says that they may not do my surgery if it does not go away soon. X-ray is totally clear. My hubby says it is allergies because I have a sneeze sometimes. Even though I am a bit scared of the whole surgery thing, since it is so close, I don't want them to cancel it. Anyone have experience with Asthma and surgery? Will they still do it? Should I tell my surgeon? Any advice?

    Find Your Stripper Name

Princess Glitterridge... But I like Tricksy Poodles better!
  10. Well... I am suppose to be on singular and Zyrtec... but... I am a moron and need to get a refill. I have been taking claritin over the counter but guess I need to shell out the bucks for the good stuff. Will do that now. Thanks for the heads up on the Singular being for both things. My son is on it, so that is good to know. Since we don't know 100% sure what it is will tell surgeon what I think it is since my x-ray is clear. Seems like I rattle when I walk from all my meds... sure hope this band thing helps it. Oh and lovechunks, hubby changed the filter about 3 weeks ago before we turned on the A/C for the first time, but will see if he will do it again for me. Thanks all for the advice. Will go to CVS...

    Tomorrow is my DAY!!

food hates me, even if I love it. I know exactly what you mean about the pre-op thing. I am in it right now and wanting to eat while I can, not drink shakes and be "good". Hope your surgery went well. How are you doing post-op?
  12. Ok... now I am getting really anxious. I start the Myocel on Sunday. All day long I have been obsessing about food, and even ate a bit of cake at a graduation party. Yikes... Two weeks... I am packed and ready, but wondering if I should eat pizza, cake, Cookies, ice cream, Grandy's, and everything else in the world before Sunday... Good Grief... I need HELP...

  15. Ok, so I am not banded yet... but this is the reason I chose the band over RNY. A few summers ago, I worked at a Bariatric Surgery Center answering calls, signing in patients etc. I saw so many things go wrong with the RNY patients and I swore I would never do it. One phone call still sticks in my mind... A woman called me post-op. Crying/screaming. She did not know why she had done this to herself and wanted it reversed right then. "Can't the doctor just sew the parts back in the right place before I heal up?", "I don't know what I was thinking... take it back... fix it... help me please..." I did the best I could with the woman, and finally gave her to the nurse on duty. That call repeats in my mind, especially lately since my date is so close. But I know if I freak out and need the band removed, at least they can do it. I sure hope that woman is doing ok now.

I love reading all the reasons for names! Some rather interesting, some very simple, but all are wonderful. Keep them coming!

    Being fat and finding love

Hey... I see Jack! Put an ad in the paper: "Attention Chubby Chasers! Perfect size 26 looking for love and happiness. Commitment wanted/required." That should let them know what you want up front! I met my hubby at Burger King. Ordered a Whopper and got a Hubby! My son just wrote a note to his girlfriend it reads: The star is high, the star is low, the sky is blue, you don't no who, I hope you love this... I love you. From your secret avmirer... (He is 7) Hope you find a secret avmirer someday!

    Mind Crush... Ode to Jack...

Now I told you guys/gals that I am not a stalker... but I will try and do better and meet up with him in the same room someday. Will be a cool "wheres Jack" (instead of Waldo) game. I am just so happy Jack posted on this thread. Forget Elvis... Jack was here!
  20. I worked with lapbandsolutions that handled all the paperwork. They had me do a sleep study and stress test, and psyche eval before they sent the paperwork in. I just called customer service to check status. Don't think my choice of doctor mattered... think the fact I am falling apart helped. Here is my MODIFIED letter: March 1, 2006 Dear Sir or Madam, This letter is to request your approval for Lab Band surgery. I am a XX year old morbidly obese female who is X-X’ tall and weigh XXX lbs., giving me a body mass index of XX. With a BMI of 40 or greater, I may be classified as being very severely obese. With my abnormally high BMI, I am at an increased risk of death at my present weight. This is the reason that I have repeatedly been denied life insurance. I am having significant adverse symptoms from my obesity. I have difficulty standing for long periods of time, I have back pain causing difficulty performing my daily activities, and in participating with my family in recreational activities. My feet hurt constantly, and this effects my work. I have hypertension and insulin resistance which further inhibits my weight loss efforts. These things would all go away, or be greatly alleviated with weight loss. My family history is a concern for me as well. My paternal grandparents both died at an early age from heart problems and stroke, my father died at 58 from a heart attack (a few years after a triple bypass), and two years later my mother died, at 58, from a massive heart attack. Her first and last. Both of my parents suffered from adult onset diabetes and high blood pressure. Weight loss surgery seems to be the only way for me to alleviate my health problems and avoid these issues. This is not a decision that I take lightly. I have made many attempts to lose weight on my own and this has gone on all my life. I was put on medications by my doctor to help lose weight. (A previous OBGYN put me on Phen-Phen before it was taken off of the market.) I have taken over the counter products and various Vitamin supplements. I would lose some weight then gain it all back, and more. I have tried many different nutritional and exercise programs. I have tried Opti-fast, Fad Diets (grapefruit diet, cabbage diet, etc), Microbiotic diet, Slim-fast, Richard Simmons, Susan powder, Thin for good, 6 week body makeover, and Atkins. I have literally spent thousands on weight loss products. I do low impact aerobics, yoga, swim, and walk as often as my back and feet pain allow. Nothing has helped long term. I have stayed on my low carb diet for over three years now, and after some initial weight loss, my weight will not go down, and has slowly started to go back up. my Dr. has recommended the lap band procedure for me and would be happy to speak with you if you need confirmation of any of the above. My PCP,, recently put me on a low calorie ADA (low carb) diet under 1000 calories, which is hard to maintain for me. I have sincerely tried to adapt to this diet, with limited success, because I get hungry. Dr. X has also recommended the lap band procedure to help with my medical problems associated with obesity. His letter should be in my file. After my chest pain scare in 2002, I have tried to improve my lifestyle and lose weight. I watch my carbs, sodium, and calories all in an effort to avoid further hospitalizations and/or heart complications. Even though I try, I still have issues with maintaining blood pressure control, and have switched blood pressure medicines several times since 1998. As you can see, I have spent all my adult life trying to lose weight. But, I need help. The lap band is an FDA approved form of weight loss surgery. (ICD9 Code 43843 CPT Code 43770) It is the least invasive and has no mal-absorption issues. The required diet is very similar to the Protein rich diet I have followed for years, but with the added benefit of hunger management. Therefore, I feel that this would be a very effective tool for me. Obesity has been shown to directly increase health care costs. As my insurer, I am sure you can see the various visits to the doctors office for blood pressure, PCOS, depression, backpain, and the hosipital stay and cardiologist visits for chest pain. The medicine alone costs both of us. These costs will far outweigh the cost of the lap band surgery that I am asking you to approve for me. As you can see I have exhausted all the traditional ways to lose weight. The lap band is an approved and proven means to permanently lose weight. Please approve this surgery for me. Thank you.

  24. I was planning on taking a very attractive MuMu (House Dress) for the ride home and bringing a pair of slip on shoes/flip-flops. Yep... I am going for the supermodel look...Will pack the lip balm just in case. I am having a hernia repaired at the same time. Do you think the one hour car ride home will hurt that? Oh... I am just trying to find something to worry about I guess... Seems like every little thing is getting to me now. Doing well on my pre-op today though. No slips at all yesterday or today!
  25. LipBalm? Why? Also, my DH will be my rolling luggage.
