Thank you Jack. I am going to follow the "Jack Diet" and see if that levels me out. Will make a list and hit the Kroger. Unfortunately, the life of a public school teacher does not allow time for Snacks, but I am going to try and sneak them in during passing periods. Maybe if I slice up the cheese stick, I can sneak a bite here and there too. Telly, my pre surgery guide says "1/2 cup hard Protein and 1/4 cup vegetables, carbs after that" and Myocel shakes for protein supplement. They say three meals only. Believe me, I have tried to be a good girl... I KNOW what needs to be done, and I am trying. That is why I asked for help.

1) What exactly CAN you eat? Listing only healthy stuff. Protein: Ground meat (any kind) with sauce is best or in stew/chili, shredded chicken in sauce (sometimes). Tofu. Veggies: Beans (sometimes), Cooked and pureed: squash, mushrooms, onions, cauliflower, cabbage, potatoes. Sometimes salad. 2) How MUCH are you eating, how OFTEN? I have a Protein shake for Breakfast. Eat lunch around 11:15, which is often something mushie so I do not get sick at work. Have found two pieces of Tofu, 4 oz, works really well, and I will fill up one of those little 4 oz containers with something mushie if I have something made. Did get one of the Lean Cuisine dinners down once for lunch. dinner is at around 5 which is when I am the least restricted and eat everything I can. How much I eat depends on what I am eating. I can get the whole pint of B&J's down, 4 oz of shredded bbq chicken (what I had for dinner), or something similar. But more often I am not a good girl because I am hungy. So I added another question: 3) What have you been eating and how much? Now you know I am going for the easy stuff because I am trying to avoid pain... I can eat chips, ice cream, Cookies, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and love pureed New England clam chowder. I can eat a half a pack of stuffing, the whole can of pureed chowder, three cookies, a cup of chips, and a whole pint of ice cream. All at different times of course, and mostly at night since I am restricted in the mornings. 4) WHY exactly ARE you eating? I am not really hungry in the mornings, but I drink my Protein Shake to get my protein in. By lunch I am getting hungry, but have to grab something fast because of my 25 minute break. By dinner I am light headed, ready to attack everything... and often do. Now I swore to myself when I got this band that I would not try to "cheat the band". I knew then that I would have to make the correct food choices for this tool to work. But living with the band has brought about another attitude. You learn rather quickly when to stop eating, you learn what foods to avoid, but when the stuff you should be eating hurts you what do you do? I, sadly, cheat. My mushie casserole gets old after a while. (Mushie casserole: garbonzo beans, tofu, squash, cauliflower, garlic, and onions pureed with a little butter and salt). My chili is good, but again, gets old after the first few days even if I doctor it up differently each meal. BTW: I can eat about a cup of my chili, can eat a Wendy's chili, and can eat about the same amount of my mushie casserole. I just wish it was easier. Sometimes I can eat something, the next day I can not eat anything, then some days I am wide open. All this with no fill change. Would appreciate any suggestions you have.

Drinking while eating poll
Poodles replied to K@t's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I must admit that I have starting drinking warm liquids with my meals. If I did not start out with hot tea/coffee then I would not be able to eat anything, then if I feel kinda stuck after the first bite (first bite syndrome) I will take another sip or two. Not every day/meal, but sometimes I do. Especially around my time of the month, and if I am going out to lunch with someone that does not know about my band. I drink cold liquids after my food has settled and stop an hour before eating so I can "prime my band". -
Well Leatha, I would never purposely post something I thought would start a fight. I was just curious about the situation. Seems the thread has taken on a life of its own though, good or bad, it is nice that we can speak about our thoughts as adults. My family has Iranian, Cambodian, Mexican/Hispanic, and white people in it. We have every color from lilly white to dark skin, some have accents, and my child is commonly known as the "white baby", since I am the only one in the family that fell in love with a white man. :girl_hug: I just truly hope that my child grows up knowing the beauty that we all possess... no matter what color our skin is... no matter what language we speak... and no matter where we live.

Notice a lot of Texans replying. Wonder if we are just vocal or notice it more here?

Typical Meal Plan for the Day - New Ideas?
Poodles replied to Pinkylee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This is what I have had today. Breakfast: Decaf coffee Lunch: Chinese Buffet: hot tea, 2 cups wonton broth, 1 cup hot and sour Soup, 1 stuffed mushroom, 2 bites crab wonton, peanuts, (oh yeah and ice cream) Snack: Coffee, 2 oreo Cookies Early Dinner: 2 1/2 tamales (Hormel) and 1/2 can chili (Wolf) Not brand loyal. I drink a ton of Hot drinks because things hurt. Have been told that I am overfilled, but I think I can still eat alot. -
I think my coworkers comments were meant to be a protection. It is very common these days to do the "you did that because I am _______". I get that from all groups in class. I usually say, "no I did that because you hit someone with a ruler, ate the glue, or _______" Your behavior attracted the discipline. I have been doing a ton of research on the dance style, stomp dancing, step dancing and such, and I can't even get my leg up high enough to slap under it, so don't know how it would work. I think I will hunt for a co-sponsor that can dance. I just don't want to get the reply..."you don't want to be our sponsor because we are...." Honestly, I am a fat woman that can't dance..... but I can do that butt shaking thing....jiggle jiggle jiggle... Thanks for all of the replies. It is interesting to see what is going on in peoples minds.

I am moving for a new job. Totally excited about the new house and new job..... but... Now I must sell my house. Had a horrible experience with one realtor so I fired her... then researched and found a wonderful "group" that sells homes quickly. They had a professional stager come into my home and gave me a list of things to do before we put it on the market. Repaint the yellow bathroom... tear down wall paper, texture and paint the secondary bath (tan), cover up my custom painted cement floors (with beige carpet), and finally since "no body likes Grandma's kitchen" I am tearing down the wonderful flowery wall paper and painting it white. Now I have literally painted every room in my home, recarpeted the place, and turned it into a plain subtle lack luster thing.... Sure hope it appeals to the masses.... because it is depressing me...

I have been so tight for so long this seems like a lot to me. I think I will test the waters tomorrow and try to eat something for breakfast. Wish me luck.

Guess making my house bland worked because, I am moving. Will be posting this message in a few threads, but wanted you to know that I will be off line for a while after the 1st. Will get back on to the board as soon as possible, but as I am a closet bandster will not get on from work. So have to wait until everything is turned on at my new home. I will be in a half way house so to speak as my real new home is being built. Will check in again before the first though...

I have been able to eat the past few days, and I have been eating too. Today I have had a diet shake, can of raviolis, frozen dinner, handfull of fritos, and two cups of granola cereal. Do you think I need a fill?

My first grader took tests in TAKS format. He tells me he has to study hard so that he can pass the TAKS in the third grade or he will fail. He is now in second grade and everything he brings home is bubbled in (TAKS). He is a great math student, but struggles a bit in reading. He always passes his spelling tests, but writes some things backwards. I have researched and this is normal for his age, but how will the TAKS look at that? Also, in private school money is not based on TAKS. And they don't have to pass a test to go to another level. IF my son does not pass the TAKS he will be home schooled for sure. Since I am certified in Elementary education, I don't think that would do him a dis-service. I try my best at home to help my man, but I want him to be a great student... not a great test taker.

I can't drink regular coffee because of my blood pressure. But I drink a pot of decaf a day. I like a little coffee with my cream and splenda!

Randi: I know how you feel. I sometimes wish I had not done this to myself. My lifestyle has changed in more ways than one. It is a pain in the ass to not eat during work, for fear of getting sick. It is a pain to order soup when I go out to eat, and it is really upsetting that crap goes down easy, but real food gets stuck. But then I see myself in the mirror. Feel my clothes getting loser, get comments from others, and I know the band is doing its job. As frustrating as it is... it is working. We knew there would be issues, we knew we would have to change our lives. No one said it would be easy.

We have hot men on this board. Just look at Jack!!!!!

Well I am down 5 more pounds. Which is good, but I want more!!! Figured it out and I have lost an average of 1.58 pounds a week. So guess I am average. Have not done too great a job of getting back on my diet today, but think weekdays will be easier!

Yeah, that is why the only two professions that have the social security offset are teachers and nurses. Totally unfair.

Restricted, not restricted, Restricted, etc.

I have noticed that 3 days before my period I totally shut off. Then when I start, I can eat ANYTHING, then after I stop I am back to tight in the morning, can eat mushies at lunch, and hard Protein at night. I thought I was too tight after my last fill, but have adjusted to my "fickle" band. When I try to eat early in the day, I drink coffee and can get some things down. But some days that does not work either. Every body is different. You just have to modify and adjust your life to your new little helper. If you are way too tight, you will know, and will need an unfill. I do not recommend getting another fill if you have tight days right now. Don't want to end up with problems. Good luck! -
My low carb is usually under 50 carbs a day. I eat veggies and fruit, and drink soy milk. Those have carbs. My diet is usually a protein shake with soy milk in the morning, tofu/pureed veggies for lunch, and some ground meat (pork/chicken/etc) and veggies at night. My staples here lately has been home made chili (meat/tomatoes/chili packet/beans), my pureed veggie mix (squash/tofu/onion/cauliflower/garlic/butter), and flavored tofu. I can eat the Zone bars, but some of the others get stuck.

Just a heads up guys... eating carbs while you have been off of them for a while will give you a horrible head ache... and you get hungry. I have been starving tonight, but I am full. Will definitely go back to low carb tomorrow. Don't know what in the world I was thinking. May weigh tomorrow just to see what is up (or down). Maybe that will give me more motivation to not cheat. I have also picked out a new "goal" outfit. I will buy it when I hit 250. I have not seen that number in 12 years. Guess I have some head issues that I need to work through. It is a good thing my hubby noticed my butt getting smaller. (Means he still looks  )

How much prune juice do you need to drink to get things moving? An 8 ounce cup a day?
