    Maybe I'm an alcoholic?

I'm with Babbs. You don't seem like an alcoholic to me at all. You are a person who loves the taste of wine. I am a person who loves the taste of beer. I, too, had misgivings about giving up my tasty beer. So, I waited until after my Cancun vacation and had a goodbye beer celebration. Now, I'm on day three of my pre-op diet and I'm ok with not having a drop of beer for the next eight weeks. Afterwards, of course, will be only able to handle a little bit. But mostly I've made up my mind to give it up along with all of the other tastes (food) that I need to give up to lose weight and get healthy. All in all, my advice is to wait until you're ready to say goodbye to wine. If that means waiting until afterNew Year's Eve, then so be it. You do what is right for you. It's your choice.
  2. Sounds crazy, but I'm glad you flunked the pre-op diet. I mean no coffee?!? Really? I've been mostly good on my diet. But I simply cannot start my 6AM crazy day without a bit of caffeine. Just one cup of half-caff. Desperately needed, too. Did the Dr say anything about the size of your liver? Like, "Hey! Your liver doesn't look like its lost a bit of fat!" Or anything to that affect?
  3. Congrats! How are you feeling? How'd you do on the pre-surgery diet? I'm on day two.
  4. Did Dr. Long do your surgery? How long did you stay at the hospital? My surgery date is Oct 22nd.
  5. Are you going thru Nicholson Clinic? Are they not able to find any other options for you?
  6. Yes, they laid mine all out for me. It was less than I thought it would be. So low that after she went over it, I asked, "That will cover all of the pre-surgery tests, but what about the surgery?" And she said that amount included the surgery. I was like Whaaat?!? Thanks! I think the insurance coordinator is Michelle - not sure. But that's who went over the out of pocket costs with me.
  7. Yay! This weekend your last big brouhaha? Then starting your pre-op diet?
  8. Agreed. If you have your surgery with Dr. Nicholson it's going to be a longer wait.
  9. Pretty much all of their email addy's are firstname@nicholsonclinic.com. Please remember that sugar wins the day. Sleeve and hiatal hernia repair w/Dr. Long.
  10. Got ahold of Lisa via email today. Oct 22! She offered Oct 1, but I'm going on vacation and cannot do the pre-op diet in time. But yay! I'm on the books!
  11. I want to wear maxi dresses, too! And on cool days, a little blue jean jacket over one. Now, I'd look stuffed. Can't wait.
  12. On their Out of Town Patient site it lists the hotels close to each surgical center. It doesn't mention any discounts though. http://www.nicholsonclinic.com/for-patients/out-of-town-patients
  13. I'm nervous about the pre-Op diet, too. Hey, I like to eat...A LOT. That's why I'm on this boat in the first place. BUT, I figure if people who are in the 400-500lb range can do it, then surely I can, too. I do wish they had an option where they could put me into a coma for the two week pre-Op diet though. I'd totally rock the diet then.
  14. Bucket List: Fitting it into my size 12 jeans, dresses, and cute skirts. Then donating them two months later, because they are too big for me. Becoming an adjunct (part-time) professor at one of the local colleges or universities. Have been wanting to do that for a couple of years. But not wanting to stand in front of a classroom of college students in this body. Go swimming without shame. Take pictures with my daughter. (I hate seeing how chunky I've become in photos, so I avoid taking pictures like the plague). Enjoying the summer, because I won't be so hot inside 50 pounds of extra fat. And other basic things that I'm looking forward to taking for granted a year from now.
  15. Just remember that sugar draws more flies. Not saying to kiss butt. But, we gotta keep our eye on the prize. For me, I called once, waited the requisite "24 business hours," and then called again. The second time I mentioned that this was my second call, so I'd like a callback this time. She called me (also at the end of the day, which makes me wonder whether they have other tasks to handle throughout the day - today's employer keeps workers doubly busy). When she called back she began with, "I have returned your call before. I called you yesterday at X time...." I just said "Ok." No point in debating it with her. Just brushed it off my shoulders and asked, "What's next?" Stayed sweet on the phone and moving towards my prize. Lisa is next. Let the 24 hour between voicemails begin! Sweet and assertive. We're almost there. In six months we'll be so busy shopping for skinny girl clothes that we won't even remember this part. Speaking of, what's your dream clothing? For me, I want to wear feminine, chintzy flowing dresses - either strapless or with the tiny straps, without it looking like a horrible mumu on me. And I also want to be able to wear a t-shirt and shorts and look cute, instead of looking like a fat hobo. Skinny girls can wear that stuff and look like well put together hot chicks. I wear the same outfit and look like a slob. So, what kind of clothing/designs do you ladies want to slip into six months from now?
  16. I'm also with Nicholson Clinic. Hoping to schedule for mid to late October. Have an all includive vacation to Cancun booked in two weeks. Wouldn't be a good time to start a pre-op diet. #wheninRome
  17. Still have to wait for the Scheduler to call me with available dates. But glad to see it moving along. Is everyone on this thread going the Hiatal Hernia repair route?
  18. Heard from the coordinator today! I have to schedule an appointment with a Nutritionist before the surgery. But otherwise, I'm cleared to go. She's forwarding my file to the Surgery Scheduler now. Now, I've gotta get my pantry prepped for pre and post-op. Excited.
  19. I'll call the coordinator again tomorrow. #youhaveonejob
  20. Ok, so you and I are trading places. Now I'm the one anxiously awaiting a call from the surgery coordinator. EDG two weeks ago. Hiatal hernia confirmed. Now I'm ready to cross to the other side. I hope it's not too much longer. #getinmybelly
  21. Heard back from her with a surgery date yet?
  22. Did you give her 24 hours?
