Hello everyone thought I would join the group. I am 62 and dealing with the pre opt diet. There are moments that I find difficult because I am a musician and some of my work is in restaurants. Today I will be spending three hours playing a brunch gig watching people eat. I am sure I will find a way to deal with it, but I may not be easy. The good news is since the start of my pre-opt diet I have dropped more than five pounds and feel really good. I am excited and nervous by date is fast approaching. I know I am doing the right thing even at 62 years old . Thanks for your posts, good to hear what others in there sixties have to say. [emoji1]

Well day 4 is here and it is true, for me at least. Each day I have seen improvement. Yesterday I really struggled to get the liquids in. Didn't make the 46 oz mark. Today I am doing much better I am halfway there. Just sipping on some broth. The key is to keep moving, walking breathing etc. I have stairs which are great to go up and down. Really helps with gas pains. NO REGRETS at all. Just following the drill to a T. The Hospital staff was great and my Doctor was fantastic couldn't be happier.

Very excited to be starting with pureed Foods on Monday does anybody have any favorites that they would like to share. I can't imagine what it's going to be like eating pureed foods for 4 weeks so I'm hoping maybe someone has some recipes for some stuff that tastes pretty good. Looking forward to having an egg. Never thought I'd hear myself say that! Sent from my LG-V496 using the BariatricPal App -

Well day six is here and I am still losing ( which I would guess is correct) got on the scale this morning and I am now 260lbs. Down over 40 pounds from the day I weigh in at the office in January. Had to go out yesterday and get a few things to wear that actually fit. Like I have said before, each day gets a little better. Drinking the Protein still take over an hour for me, which I think is ok. Been able to get enough liquids and that is a slow process as well. But I feel great for the most part. Have to remind myself that I had surgery 6 days ago because i feel normal. My stomach feels different and I am beginning to understand what it feels like to be full. Which for me is different than what I felt before the surgery. This has been a very positive experience. I know I was worried before the surgery and I think that is normal. But the thought of finally being able to get to a weigh that is healthy, is so exciting! The last time I was 260 was 2004. I am very committed to losing as much as I can possible. With the help of the sleeve I seriously feel this can happen. It is my goal to spent the rest of my life healthy. My diabetes has improved ( Blood glucose 94) my blood pressure is come way down. I am hoping at some point I will be able to lose the sleep apeana as well. So i think if you follow the what your doctor says pre and post opt. Do the work you too can benefit from this surgery. There are plenty of examples here on this site, easy to see for sure. I am just adding my thoughts to the mix. I know reading other posts here helped me to move ahead with the process and I hope this will others.

I have been pretty lucky, I have not to take any pain meds since I have been home. The day of surgery my last pain shot was at 10 pm. I have been pain free ever since. Very very lucky I guess. I have been able to a little moving around. I do get fatigue and then I usually come home and take a nap. I do try pay attention to how much energy I have and judge accordingly. Well day 2 was a workout. Was so happy to be able to drink. Sipping on water felt great, my mouth felt like a cotton ball. Didn't even think I could even get the water down. When they showed up with apple juice I went crazy. Sipped away but yikes ...... adding that to the fluid I had to drink for the x-ray cause what felt like a bomb in my gut ready to blow up. Very uncomfortable, spent the rest of the day walking doing the breathing exercises trying to get any kind of relief. Feeling a wide range of feeling like, oh my God what did I do........ well day three is better and I remember reading each day gets better. Well folks I agree. Today is better. I am heading home today which makes me very happy. Been sipping on water for fours today and all is going well. Straight ahead I go. This site has been great because you can get an idea of what your experience could end up being. [emoji1]

Winding down the final week before the big day. I have been all over the place thinking about how life will be different and also a little nervous for the actual operation. I know they do a lot of these but still I am concerned about the outcome. So much of my life business wise happens around food. I worry about how I will be able to handle those situations. I have lost over 23 pounds since I started this process. Almost 10 this week being on a pre opt diet. I feel better about myself with each pound I lose. So straight ahead I go. I commented to make this work i want to get healthy sick of the weight and everything that brings with it.

Hello All, So my surgery is scheduled for May 3rd. I have gotten clearance from all the doctor's so I am ready to go. This morning I woke up with a dry throat which usually means I cold is headed my way. What a drag ! Drinking a lot of chicken broth and staying in bed, lucky for me today is my day off. So I am sitting here reading that my doctor say I will have to take Vitamins the rest of my life. Somehow I missed that. It is a little upsetting to me, but I can deal with it. What is happening is that I am worried .......I am I doing the right thing? Retracing my steps....... my mind is out of control. So far I have lost close to thirty pounds since I started my journey. I am sure you would all agree this is a major decision. From what I have been reading most everyone is happy with their decision. I guess I am a little scared to be honest my day is fast approaching. I am excited to think I will this tool to help to keep the weight off. I guess I am looking to hear others thoughts. I know it is a rough go the first few months and I am ready for that. I guess I would like to hear how you all feel and I guess get feed back and support. I have read so much and it seems very positive. Thank you I couldn't imagine preparing for this with this site and everyone here.

Thank you for your feedback Mistybell.

Oh I agree, I was just surprised that all for some reason I thought the sleeve surgery was a way to avoid that. Small detail and not a deal breaker for sure! I am going to do this and thank you for your feedback.

Well I spent the day getting all the pre surgery testing. Everything my Doc wanted done. Next step is to get clearance from the Doctors my surgeon has requested. My two week mark was tuesday but for some reason my pre opt diet starts tomorrow. I spent emails and was told everything starts tomorrow. I worry that someone may of messed up. I sure hope this doesn't delay my surgery which is due to happen on May 3rd. Has anyone else done a pre opt diet that was less than two weeks? I actually ate a little something this morning and have fasted the rest of the day. Hard to believe that I am less than two weeks away. After spending the morning at the Hospital it really feels like the day will actually happen. Have a meeting with the surgeon tomorrow 8am. Fingers crossed it all goes smooth.

Thanks I will.
