Sleeve Size and Other Questions for PreOp Appointment
Whitney1968 replied to ellie123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know if you have friends that have done this surgery. The 3 weeks after surgery SUCKS!!! Eating/drinking nothing but broth is terrible. I always wanted something to chew. Don't get dicouraged during this phase (at least try not to). Other people did not have a problem with this but I did. I miss regular food. I can't wait until a few weeks where I can have salad. -
Sleeve Size and Other Questions for PreOp Appointment

I've never heard of that. I wouldn't do it. I am 5 weeks post op and I am always hungry. I can eat quite a bit. I see others saying they have 2 spoons of something and they are full. Not me. Maybe my surgeon didn't cut enough out. The sleeve can always expand. -
I was drinking Premier too but after a few weeks I switched to Isopure Zero Carb (banana Creme, strawberry, Cookies and Cream, etc.). 12 oz. equals 210 calories, 0 carbs, 50 grams Protein. Order it OVER THE PHONE (tell them you would like a discount, they will give you a better discount than if you ordered on line). 3 lb big ol' jub is $44.99 but they should give you a $15.00 discount AND free shipping. You are going to UP your protein intake soon. You will need to be getting anywhere from 65 to 75 grams of protein a day. DO NOT buy any specials they offer you on Vitamins. I ordered some with great deals and had to send them back because my doctor and NUT said that I will have to take chewable vitamins for the rest of my life now. If you can get the Bariatric Advantage CHEWABLES on sale, get that with the Vitamin D.

I am 4 weeks post up too. I hardly eat anything and am at a stand still. However, I do stick to my Protein shakes (I don't want my hair falling out). I am totally regretting this surgery. If I would have known then what I do now, I could have did this on my own. Everyone keeps saying in then end that you will love your new life. I'm waiting for that day.

Why at Week 4 we are allowed Beans but not peas? I love red beans and white beans (unfortunately I am not able to have them over rice as most New Orleans people love. It is a tradition here on every single Monday). I love peas and espceically pea Soup but my NUT told me that I am not allowed to have that b/c of the carbs and gassiness. What is the difference. Beans are like that too???

@KarenLoh Did it give you bad gas or pains? Did you notice an increase in the scale? Did you eat peas out of the can? Make a soup out of it?

2nd leak developed 1 year post-op
Whitney1968 replied to liirogue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh okay. Was wondering if he went to Mexico or something. I had complications after surgery which required another emergency surgery but it wasn't a leak. That's scarey to have a leak after one year. I agree with OutsideMatchInside, go to a different doctor for a 2nd opinion. -

Puréed suggestions please!

I will definitely try the chili. However, why do we need to puree things? Why can't we take small bites and chew, chew chew? -
Puréed suggestions please!
Whitney1968 replied to Twinmomma422's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would love some suggestions too. I just keep thinking that you would blend potatoes, meat and peas together and drink it. YUK!!! Can't wait to hear the ideas. -
Don't eat more than 100 carbs a day. You should be getting anywhere from 65 to 76 grams of protein. They protein drinks are where I get most of my protein. Food alone would never give me enough. I am on the Isopure Zero Carbs protein powder. If you go to Puritan's Pride website, they are the cheapest. If you call them by phone, and ask for a discount, they will give you more of a discount than the internet will. The 3 lb protein powders are $44.99 a piece. The girl over the phone gave me $15 off that and when I ordered a 2nd one, she gave me $10 off of that one. Can't beat that!!!!!!!!!

My doctor and NUT said, red potatoes but not the Idaho (brown baked) potato. Brown ones are more starchy and harder to digest. Red ones are better because they are smaller and creamier and easier to digest. Only to put salt and pepper and a spray butter or butter buds powder. No rice or pasta. In a month or two, you can have whole grain pasta and brown rice. Otherwise, stay away from all the "white".

I saw my NUT this morning. She said I can start eating salads 7 or 8 weeks post op and to cut the veggies VERY small!!!

I guess it depends on what kind of work you do. I was back at work one and a half weeks. I have a clerical desk job though.
