Mascara is my new addiction for now. I have never been one to apply much of it in the past. But since receiving compliments from my roommate I have been putting it on before stepping out the house.

Haha- I just posted on another topic that I am addicted to Listerine breath spray. It keeps my mouth moist while I am waiting to drink after I eat.
I also find that I am addicted to nail polish- seriously have to quit buying it for awhile.
All joking aside (except I really do love nail polish); one my new addictions is kayaking. Absolutely love it.

I'm hoping it's to health improvement related type stuff.
I'm 4 weeks out of surgery now. Starting to lose while on real food. Have an appointment with my primary doc tomorrow where I'll get bp meds removed or at least modified. I'm going to request a sleep study so I can take advantage of the newer C-PAP & BiPAP machines.....I'm going to upgrade my mattress in the near future. Last two days have seen me double my step counter readings and I'll begin the gym this weekend.
Hoping the only addiction I have from now on is one improving my health and thriving.

@@DangerMouse007 - Thanks so much for posting this link. I read it this morning and have been thinking about it all day. Man did that put it all in perspective for me. I have been waiting the 30 minutes after eating but got a little lax on chewing enough and the blog post really helps understand all that. I am good with following rules as long as I understand why? This really helped me!

A lot of people are advised to follow the 30-30 rule... no drinking 30 minutes before or after a meal. My surgeon said I can drink right up until I eat, but wants me waiting at least an hour after eating to have a drink.

It's not that it will kill you, but drinking after eating flushes the food out of the pouch, making it so that you feel hungry again. Basically, it's like sabotage to the surgery. Once you get into the routine of waiting 30 minutes after eating to drink, it won't seem like too big of a deal. =) You just gotta keep the routine up and re-train your brain.

I wait 30 minutes after eating to drink. It was explained to me this is a rule for life, along with not drinking while eating.

Thanks for the link. That is probably the best written and most informative article I have read in regards to the whys and why-nots. I have a VSG so alot of it doesn't apply but informative none the less.

I was just doing some google searching on this since I was curious as to the why and how long. Found this site...five year old blog, but still helpful especially in explaining your "new" anatomy post-op:
    http://pamtremble.blogspot.com/2008/08/why-we-dont-drink-with-meals.html
Lots of discussion elsewhere on drinking right up to a meal or only up to 30 minutes before a meal, etc., etc. I'm sure there's some discussion on this topic here as well.

One thing that I find helpful if I am thirsty right after I eat and it's not time to drink; I brush my teeth or I use a squirt of the Listerine breath spray- for some reason that moistens my mouth a little.
I am actually a little addicted to my Listerine breath spray. I seriously can't live without it. Does that count as a crossover addiction LOL

I'm unsure about with the bypass.
I had a sleeve done 4 weeks ago and my understanding is this is how it is going to be.
I encounterd my first episode of aggravation about that tonight at work. I was at my desk and having my second "meal" of the day.....a bag of flavored tuna.....Tai Chili flavor. The first couple forkfulls were sweet tasting....not bad at all. The next two went down and all the sudden.......heat was there. Spicy heat. The kind that would have been nice to have something to drink with it.
I'd purposely not refilled my Water bottle so there'd be no temptation...but I had no idea that stuff would be so hot. I've had zero spicy food in so long that it just didn't occur to me.
    Lessons learned.
Freaking love the flavored tuna packs, though. I think I can live off them much easier than protien shakes.

Yes... I had to much hello and now avoid it. I started taking v8 light stawberry/banana flavor and dilute it with Water. The sugar is 12g. I also add the unflavored Protein to it. Amazing!

I am 28 years old and I have always been bullied my whole life about one thing or another. People would find a reason to bully me. It really hurts. I don't have a best friend. I have sisters. I have acquaintances. I have been hurt by friends too. I think everyone has.
I am one month post op on October 29th. I am not giving people another reason to pick on me. I am not telling anyone about my surgery but my family.

It's also possible that you're actually REALLY hurting your pouch and don't even know it, because when everything is rerouted during surgery, the nerves are severed, and it takes time for them to reconnect and heal. Imagine putting your hand on the stove while it's on high but you can't feel it burning - it is definitely still burning, and you are definitely still damaging yourself. Talk to your surgeon asap! And seriously, I know it's hard because old habits die hard and it doesn't feel like there is any problem with how much you are eating but you really should measure out your food, eat EXACTLY what your NUT says, and generally just eat a lot less than you are. I would hate to find out something happened to you.
Just because you CAN does not in any way mean you SHOULD. Take care, get help soon.
