Omg!!! Lol, reading what some people say is hilarious. Otherwise it's sad and hurtful.
People have really only said that they were scared for me. I had to explain. Their has been no wls deaths hospital (so far). My friend is a bill coder at the same hospital and she said that my surgeon is one of the best. I'm in good hands.

No soda ever again. Unless it's flat. The carbonation can stretch your stomach back out and it's painful I hear. Which would totally suck for everything you went through to get the surgery. I have a new favorite drink.. At least post op drink. It's the v8 light- strawberry banana. I'm 7 months post op and down 100lbs! I feel great :-)

RGraham87 got a reaction from KristenLe in I'm 6 days away from surgery & scared as heck!
I think I was at my worst the day of surgery. I started crying in the waiting room because no one went with me to support me and it was kinda scary. I kept saying to myself that I'm going to get skinny and be happy and there is nothing anyone can do to stop me. I had to talk to my doctor about a anxiety medication after surgery. I am good now

RGraham87 reacted to Cervidae in SMOKING
The problem with smoking right before or anytime after WLS is the greatly increased risk of ulcers. It seems kind of silly to continue a smoking habit even after knowing it could create enormous, costly, and extremely painful permanent damage to your body. I know it's an addiction, but like any addictive behavior (food included!) it's something that has to be controlled if you want to live a happy healthy life. Best of luck to all of you.

RGraham87 got a reaction from bugsy72 in I ate sugar today for the first time--and I didn't dump. Not happy!
It might depend on what you eat. I can eat a little amounts of things. I try eating anything fried and I get sick. Anything high in sugar will make me dump. I can't drink anything with over 15 g of sugar. I buy the V8 strawberry banana light juice and dilute it with Water. It's great! I know Splenda is not good for you but I use that most of my foods instead of sugar. At least until I discover something better

I'm definitely still a work in progress.

the left is my highest weight a year and a half ago, 442. I was a size 32 jeans and a 3x/4x top.
the right is current, 277. I'm at the lower end of size 24, and a 2x/sometimes xl top.
    You look great!

Definitely no. It has been hard to get used to because of my severe arthritis but it is not worth the potential stomach issues.

Reversals are actually done a lot more often than you would think. I may be doing this by the end of the year. There are Facebook groups for gastric bypass takedowns and support. Lots of people have had mechanical issues and needed reversals. They are definitely high risk, however if they can take you apart, they can put you back together, although I wouldn't go to just anyone that's for sure!. I'm personally experiencing malnutrition, and severe weight loss (and no, none of this is my doing. I did all that I was supposed to over the last 16 years). Had a revision in September, and still having complications. Seeing my doctor again next week to discuss next step, which is most likely the takedown. They also do them on those who continue to get ulcers, or severe dumping (which I also get from everything I eat). In regard to weight gain from the reversal, it's one's choice to eat badly and put the weight back on, just like you can start making bad choices with rny and never expect to stretch your stomach. It happens in most cases. I learned a lot about eating well, healthy/organic, locally grown as often as possible. (wish I knew then what I know now, I regret my surgery a lot) I would actually give anything to eat a salad or a piece of fish right now, instead I am getting tpn through a picc line. So even though you follow the plan, like I did it doesn't mean you wont have issues.

So far, I've tried most of the hot chocolate flavors (amaretto is the absolute best, the rest are delicious as well), beef bouillon (great for a salty craving, tastes really good), chicken Soup with Pasta (not a fan of this one, tastes too protein-y for me), beef Soup with Pasta (really good, not protein-y at all).
I have the cheese steak pasta entree as well and I'm really looking forward to trying that.
