Liver Shrinkage? Can someone explain this concept to me?
RGraham87 replied to mommy2015's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The liver shrink diet is so your surgeon can move your liver easier and surgeon needs to get under your liver to complete your surgery. Most surgeons feel more comfortable putting their clients on the pre op diet so the have less of a chance nicking your liver. My pre op diet was 5 days before surgery. I slipped up once the first day. Each day I had a Protein shake for Breakfast and lunch. I choose the Adkins Protein shakes. For me they all taste better really cold. For dinner I had a non starchy vegetable and the choice of broiled chicken or skinless fish. Durning the day I was getting shaky. So I had half a apple to feel better. good luck! -

October List of Surgery's
RGraham87 replied to 60&goin4it's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can walk okay. I just can't walk for long. In the shower, I sit on a bench because I can't stand long. My energy needs work. My pain is under control. In the hospital. I could only eat my sugar free jello. Broth made me nauseous at first. But that went away now I am enjoying some sugar free Jell-O's, sugar-free pudding mixed with protein powder, Adkins protein shakes, and broth. Remember your portions. Don't forget to drink a lot of water. I am still fearing that I'm going to end up with dehydration. But that's probably just my paranoia. Hope this helps Ron -
5 days post op- My dietitian told me to not have sugar alcohol. Apparently irritates my new stomach. Then I'm reading about my stage 2. Apparently I can have sugar-free pudding. All the sugar-free pudding has sugar alcohol in it. So I want to know is a little bit Okay?

October List of Surgery's
RGraham87 replied to 60&goin4it's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am well. I have started my protein shakes. My pain is controlled. As of Friday, I have lost 18lbs since my last weigh in on sept 24th. That was when I started my pre-op diet. I was nervous and excited on my surgery day of sept 29th. So as of today that's 18lbs lost in 10 days. I weighted myself today and I'm still the same as I was Friday, Oct 2nd. I know my body is now in starvation mode. I just need to keep going and stay strong! Good luck to all you October surgery peeps! -

Yeah but it doesn't seem to help much. I am doing good on fluids for now. I hope I don't have any problems -
What did you do to get out of work for surgery? What did you tell work?
RGraham87 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am guessing most people used sick time, vacation or personal time. I am only going be be using sick home. I have never called in sick. I have over a month in sick time. Not much in vacation and personal days. The only way I can use sick time, is by calling out the day of surgery. I am not up to telling work that I'm getting weight-loss surgery. Work doesn't let you request sick time. I'm trying to figure out what would be the best thing I could say to them. Appendicitis Maybe? Lol -
Thursday, September 24 and supposed to start my shrink liver diet and I'm trying to figure out if I can have coffee when I wake up like I always do. And in my coffee there's creamer. Just looking for information that would help me decide if I should or should not have coffee next couple days. Thanks peeps

So my social worker told me I could never enjoy coffee again. How long after surgery did you get to enjoy a cup of coffee? I only put cream and Splenda in my coffee

Coffee after surgery?
RGraham87 replied to RGraham87's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The hospital has a social worker. She does psych evaluations and she could stop my surgery at any time. I think she's a little crazy, uptight, and ready for retirement. -
I want to take the medicine again for panic attacks. It was the best medication I ever took. I am afraid that my surgeon would cancel my surgery. Please people tell me why your on it? Thank you in advance

What kind of diet were you on before surgery?
RGraham87 replied to RGraham87's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am getting shaky. Had a lean meat and veggies for breakfast and lunch. I had a apple with Carmel so I had some sugar in my diet. I am still shaky. I wonder if my body needs more sugar. Isn't that a disease? -
Stupid things people say when they find out you've had surgery....
RGraham87 replied to Awjones28's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Omg!!! Lol, reading what some people say is hilarious. Otherwise it's sad and hurtful. People have really only said that they were scared for me. I had to explain. Their has been no wls deaths hospital (so far). My friend is a bill coder at the same hospital and she said that my surgeon is one of the best. I'm in good hands. -
Help! Did you have surgery at 200lbs?
RGraham87 replied to Michelle.'s topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'm 5'3 and at 246. I have been dieting unsuccessfully for 15 years. I do have many health problems. I'm getting surgery on the 29th. Message me if your interested in looking at my now pictures and after surgery pictures. -
What's the number one brand to take? I'm at a grocery store for another 30 mins. Just want to be healthy as possible for my surgery (bypass) on the 29th. I alway used store brands. Would 'one a day women' be ok? I'm a female. :-)
