I am 4 weeks today and every time I drink water it makes me sick. Even if it's small sips. How can I get more water intake? Any suggestions? I have been eating Sonic ice to help. I feel very dehydrated.
-
Thank you all so much for the suggestions!! I tried room temperature water this morning and it didn't make me gag. But I still couldn't drink a lot. I tried crystal light lemonade today it was okay. It took me an hour to drink 6 oz. I will try the other suggestions. Once again thank you. I loved water before surgery and so that's why I am having a hard time.

I am two weeks post op and for the most part I am doing really well! I feel good most of the time. I get full so fast and I am not hungry at all. I am not eating much at all. Probably not the amount I should be eating. I drink a Protein shake every morning but only half of it. About 1/4 cup cottage cheese for lunch and 1/4 cup of some (soup/ricotta bake) for dinner. Maybe Jello or a Popsicle every once in a while and Water in between. I have started my walking too. I have lost 39 lbs so far. 20 since surgery!! Okay here is the problem I am having I am so tried. It has just been the last couple of days. I want to sleep all of the time. Is this normal? Please help. Luckily I am off work for one more week.

Okay thank you all

These are really all great ideas Thank you! I picked somewhere that has soup! -
This is a two part question. I was sleeved on 12/12 so 4 days ago. I am doing well just some pain for the incision. I have not had much gas! I hate taking small sips but I get over it!???? 1. What is your favorite kind of soup. I can have creamed soups but I just don't know where to start with creamed soups. 2. I woke up this morning and I am very shaky. It has not gone away. I can hold my hand out and I just shake. I have had 40 grams of protein so far today. What could it be from??

Chapstick! I didn't bring earplugs but that's a great idea. -
Yep that is about what mine looks like. Feels a lot better now though! ImageUploadedByBariatricPal1450741516.549242.jpg This was my belly one day out--it was bruised and red for about 12 days! I'm about a month out and haven't had any issues!
-
Did anyone have bruising around your big incision? My hurts a lot and is yellow and brown. Wondering if this was normal?
-
You're on my mind so I will wanted to check in to see how everything is going with you. How's it going? Aw thanks! I am doing a lot better. One week 2 days post op and feeling better! Eating puréed food is amazing even if it's only a couple of bites. Seriously a couple of bites and I am good. The bruising is still there and hurts a little when I move a certain way or bend but other than that it is healing great and I feel pretty good. I go to the doctor for my check up tomorrow. Can't wait to see how much I have lost!!
-
Mine lasted about 2 hours. Did labs, EKG, told me everything that was going to happened. I was supposed to talk with the anesthesiologist but he was running behind and I didn't want to wait. I asked if they did a leak check but my doctor doesn't unless he felt there was reason for it. The one thing I would suggest packing was Chapstick for the hospital. I forgot that and really wish I would have had some. Good luck!!! Thank you meganmom! Everything went GREAT today!! I love my surgeon, he has the best bed side manner ever and despite the 10 pound weight gain, he told me to enjoy my Christmas and he would see me on the 28th. Going today has just made me even more excited about this life style choice I chose! All I did today as far as tests go was labs. He said he would do a leak test, get a sample of my liver (if its fatty or abnormal) and put a scope down my throat to check it but all that will be done while I'm under anesthesia. How are you doing? I am so glad it well! Sorry I didn't realize it was today. I was thinking it was tomorrow! Haha I am doing pretty good. I am sleepy a lot and sore at the big incision and have some bruising. I don't have much gas so that's good. Just trying to get my Protein and Water in.
-
Okay glad it's normal. It's been so sore.

My first guess is that you are dehydrated. Try crushed ice and sugar free Popsicles. Keep sipping but you got to get more Fluid. Talk to your surgeon, you may need pedialyte. I will try to drink more water. And if I feel shaky in the morning I will call the doctor.
-
I have gotten about 25 oz of water in today. The other the days I haven't gotten much in. I am trying to drink whenever I can. I just constantly take tiny sips.

Nope I came home the day after surgery!

update day 3 (i am not counting the day of surgery) day 1 slept a lot I was in a lot of pain due to the big incision. hard to move up and down. i did not walk that first day at all I just wanted sleep. day 2 i just wanted to drink Water and eat Jello the Protein was not my friend. still very sore. had trouble sleeping last nigh i was very shaky and I think it was due to lack of protein. Day 3 (which is today) woke up took pain meds and it and I have drank about 4 oz of protein this morning and feel so much better. Doesn't taste the best but I do feel better. I am going to take a nap then try to go for a mile walk. Walking really does help! Gas has not been that bad thank goodness! pills have not been hard to take. This might be TMI but I started the day after surgery and it has been one of the worst TOM. It is very heavy. hope this helps everyone. things i have noticed: I am not hungry at all, smells weird me out and i don't like to be around others while they eat even though I am not hungry.

Good luck let us know how it goes!
