Had Sleeve 3 yrs ago and now being offered DS - What to do?
BIGRED Z replied to peijeremy's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
3 day pre-op diet for liver shrinkage. Post op: 1 week clear liquid, followed by 3 weeks pureed. I start my soft diet tomorrow and that's 7 weeks. Glad to hear you're moving forward, sometimes just making the decision takes a load off. Thanks BigRed! I am having the surgery on the 27th I'll be finding out next week in preadmission anyway, but I am curious, what was your post op diet after the switch given you already had the sleeve? -
Today, I am wondering what I have done to myself

Only stinky poo, unless there's a hygiene or other issue pre-existing. Remember that fat free usually equals chemical shit storm. Never a good alternative in my book. I tolerate fat ok for now, granted I'm not eating a whole lot of anything, much less high fat items. -

I had the sleeve in 2012. Good success, lost weight etc. Have maintained the loss for the most part. Then my gallbladder began giving me issues and my surgeon expanded his practice to a new doc that did the SIPS/DS. I figured since they were in there, why not. I could go for some more weight loss. I'm still only 3 weeks post op, but down 20lbs. Still having cramping, stinky, poo but I'm told this shall pass. -
I'm 3 weeks out and still have daily cramping w loose BM's. Waiting for things to firm up...

Yes Jane, Have a had a PPI since my sleeve. I just try not to take it very often as long term use of PPI's are not good for you at all.

Did this ever clear up? I have a major cramp fest every morning. Like seriously, I wake up needing to poop! -
SIPS / SADI-S LOOP DS SUPPORT

Just had the SIPS last month, I was already sleeved but needed my gallbladder out and since I was there...SIPS. 3 weeks post op, down 20lbs. Still on pureed diet. I have a longer common channel, but poo is still WAY stinky and loose. Has anyone managed to have solid poos again? -
It won't help it in any way. So if it was a problem before, it will most likely remain. I never had GERD before my sleeve. Had minor GERD after it, just had SIPS 12/16/16 and it did not improve any.

I am a former sleeve, just had the SIPS and gallbladder removed 12/16. I'm down 20lbs, but I have major cramping poos every am, massively stinky btw, and I fear I shall never have a solid poo again lol. Other than the morning toilet evacuation cramp fest, I'm doing ok. Still get nausea if I eat too fast or take too big a bite. -

Has anyone tried antabuse to stop drinking?
BIGRED Z replied to BIGRED Z's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks everyone for the replies. I have read up on the Naltrexone as well. I plan to speak with my doctor about the best choice for me. I will also check into local support groups. Anyone esle with any experience, chime in! This is great. -
Another vote for Dr Curry.

I was banded in Mexico. Dr Curry in Cincinnati does my fills. He has several mexico banded patients. Should be a 2 hr drive for you. 513-559-1222. Good luck. His staff are awesome, most of them have been banded themselves.

I live in Independence. I was banded in Mexico, but I see Dr Curry in Cincy for fills. Maybe we could scare up enough people to meet for dinner once a month or something.

Funny, I was afraid of that too. Now I'm afraid of what will happen if I don't stop. It's gotten out of hand. Completely. Anyone have any experience with antabuse or other drugs like it? I am strongly considering trying it. Something has to give. I got this band to be a healthier me, not a useless drunk.

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Suzy, I think you showed amazing restraint. That kid would have gotten an earful from me right along with her idiot mother. If she was foolish enough to follow she would have been in tears by the time I was done with her! Laura, I'm new so I don't know what you used to look like! But you're gorgeous today right? -
My name is Lori. Had my band 2-9-07. Just started exercising 2 days ago. I finanlly plateued long enough to start the dreaded work out! Nice to meet ya'll.
-
Yes, I'm horribly lazy when it comes to working out! I've seen some pounds come off after I started packing last week. I'm moving Jan 10 and have been hauling boxes up and down stairs which is what initially got the scale moving again. But it showed me that I needed to start doing more physically to really get into gear.

Same here, haven't exercised since my band was put in. Started Dec 31, got that oh so nice muscle pain from lifting weights. I also have a mini trampoline. Oh and I'm moving, so I'm hauling boxes up and down stairs!
