  1. Hi folks-well it's been 5 weeks since my sleeve and it's been challenging to find things I can eat that don't either stick in my chest or go right through me. I'm getting sick of yogurt, cottage cheese, pudding, chicken broth and water. I hate the taste of all those diet drinks. I had sea bass the other night at a restaurant and it went right through me. (I had about 3-4 tbs). Now I'm afraid to eat in restaurants. Is it too early to be eating Real Food, in a restaurant? Will this ever get better? I'm always full of gas, probably because I'm not eating very much. Will that get better? I had a piece of cheese and some pudding with some fat free "kool whip" type stuff on it and now I'm having those intestinal gurgles, so I know what's next! Why??? Help please? I'll talk to my Surgeon Tuesday for my 6 week check up, but hear real experiences really help! Thanks!!

    Getting Sleeved 9/15! Need advice!

Hi! Thank you all for your encouragement. I'm coming up on 2 weeks post op. It's fine being alone after my niece went home, but it has not been a breeze for me-I've had a lot of pain getting things down so I ended up getting IV fluids 3 days last week. My pancreatic enzymes were/are still? elevated from the jostling around in there as part of surgery, so I'm in pain from that. That's not fun. I'm very discouraged. All I want to do is take pain meds and sleep. I have a follow up apt on 9/30. We'll see...

One day post op and in so much pain

Oh boy, does this sound just like me. I'm going crazy trying to get fluids in. I've had IV fluids 3 days in a row but I can't catch up (bright yellow/orange pee). I'm in so much pain-it kills to drink anything. I'm heading out now for some more fluids and some new pain med. Oxy gave me a migraine last night! That's all I need is more pain. Keep after them to help you. This is miserable. I had my sleeve 10 days ago. Good luck!

    Pancreatitis buddy out there?

I got my sleeve 8 days ago and I have elevated pancreatic enzymes, which is low level pancreatitis. It's sooo painful. IV Morphine is really the only thing that makes the pain go away and allows you to drink to stay hydrated. If you stay in the hospital, they'll give you IV fluids. As your new anatomy heals, so will your pancreas but it does take a little time. Pain meds and lots of water got me through it! Good luck!!'

    Horrible headache and hungry

Also, are you taking Oxy for pain? That gave me a horrible migraine!

    Help!

I had my sleeve 8 days ago and I've been in such pain too. It hurts so much to get fluids in. I had IV fluids, and a cat scan yesterday. The cat scan show some "sludge" in there and my blood work revealed elevated pancreatic enzymes, which is fairly common after this kind of aggravating surgery. If you google Pancreatitis, you'll probably say "that's me!" I did. It has to run its course as your new anatomy heals, but they told me, Oxy every 4 hours and get 64 ozs in! With the pain meds, I can do it, and I swear all that water has actually helped me heal! Talk to your Dr about possibly having pancreatitis and that you want your enzyme levels checked. Be a strong advocate for yourself-Drs think we're all going to be fine in 2 weeks, but why suffer through a constant torturous belly ache! It's horrible! There's probably nothing seriously wrong, but check it out! Good luck!
  7. You look great! How much did you lose? Give us the details!

    Nausea 3weeks post-op?

You can order it from Amazon but I've heard it's much cheaper at Costco. It's great stuff! Good luck!
  9. Hi ladies! I had my sleeve done 2 days ago!! I'm still in the hospital. So easy! I had it done at Tobey Hospital in Wareham Ma, by Dr. Rachael Jones. They keep you for 2 night and take incredible care of you. Small hospitals that have an extensive bariatric surgery program are a great alternative to large city hospitals. They're usually much more quiet and their ratio of patients to nursing staff is better.. Small hospital = attentive service and quiet, healing atmospheres. They were all great!thank you!
  10. Thanks ladies!!! Very encouraging!!! Packing my hospital bag today and drinking my "liquid" tomorrow-then off I go. Yikes!!!!! ????. No complications Ppplease?

    Getting Sleeved 9/15! Need advice!

Thank you sweetheart. I'm sure your right. Thanks for the tip on sleeping upright for a while. I have my mom's adjustable TempurPedic bed so I'll use that until I can lay flat. Praying for no complication????????.
  12. Hi fellow sleevers- Tuesday is my big day! I can't believe it's here. I'm 61 yrs old single woman with no kids and all the co-morbidity conditions out there. I live alone and would love to hear from anyone who went through their recovery pretty much on their own. I'll have a relative for the first 3 days home. Is that enough? Thank you!!
  13. Anyone out there care to offer advice on any related topic? I'm nervous about it all-but I want to do and really succeed LONG TERM! Thanks!!
