    Sleeve and sushi?

5 months almost for me. I eat sushi any time i can. As others stated, sashimi is a good option. Also my favorite sushi place has nigiri, which is a piece of fish on just a little bit of rice. I usually order 1 sushi and 1 nigiri, perfect.
  3. I would agree with others, start by tracking your food. Myfitnesspal is a great app if you don't have it already. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
  4. I had a hiatal hernia that wasn't diagnosed but suspected before surgery. It was repaired when I had my surgery and have no problems now. I'm off my prilosec now as well. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    Exercise

We have similar goals. I am in the 4th week of the couch to 5k program and I just recently bought a road bike so I can do a triathlon late this summer. I highly recommend the couch to 5k app, very cool. It coaches you thru the whole process. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    Weekend Protein...

Yes, i struggle on the weekends with all the boys activities, going here and there, working around the house. I don't get all my vitamins in on the weekend sometimes too. I just do the best i can, throw a premier shake in the cooler as i leave and buckle down and get back on track monday.
  8. I think the "calculators" are actually based on averages of people who have had surgery in the past and not any kind of scientific study. We have the tools and knowledge to meet any goal we set, its just up to us to and how hard we want to work, imho.

    Over Ate....

I have a small scale that i weigh everything on when I'm at home. It helps you learn what a portion size really is.
  11. One thing you need to remember as well is to take time for your meal. I know what the pace is like in the ER, you won't be able to gobble your food down and get back to work. You have to take some time for yourself. It took me some time to get used to this, but when i eat, i take a bite, then put the fork down and chew. Each bite i do that. Its now a habit for me, it makes you slow down. My pureed stage, i had scrambled eggs, lots of yogurt(low carb, some have a lot of sugar), refried beans, which after 4 weeks of liquids was great, once i handled that ok, i had tuna fish, etc. Just because its called the pureed stage doesnt mean it has to be pureed. ohh, cottage cheese was on that list, but the only thing i like to do with cottage cheese is scrape it into the trash. Best of luck to you.

    CPap Machine question

It can be a sign of too much pressure. I used the nasal pillows for about 3 years and never had that problem until i had WLS, my theory was that it forced my mouth open while i was asleep. Maybe it wasnt the wisest thing to just quit, but my sleep apnea was only mild.

Best thing would be to opt out of station meals altogether for a few weeks. Your plan probably wouldnt allow for it anyways. Make your own portion sized meals. I was still on soft/pureed food when i went back.
  16. I am in the Knoxville, tn area. Do you have a myfitnesspal account and app? Start tracking what you eat would be a great first step. There is nothing you can do to undo some of the choices you've made in the past, the only thing you can do have control of is your future choices, your Dr should understand that.

    CPap Machine question

It took me a few weeks, i would wake up in the middle of the night with a dry mouth, and not just a hey I'm thirsty dry mouth, I mean like my tongue would be stuck to the roof of my mouth dry. It was awful. I took my machine in to my sleep dr, it was already an automatic machine which adjusts pressures automatically. They Gave me a chin strap to wear. I tried that for a week, finally I gave up. Quit using it and my ribs didn't hurt so I guess I don't have sleep apnea any more. (ribs hurting from my wife punching me in the side when i snored). Haven't been back to the sleep dr yet for another sleep study, but I Seem to be doing fine, not tired ehen i get up, not snoring, etc.
  18. Welcome to the forum, it takes alot of guts to do what youve done, coming forward with your story. What an awful experience you've been thru. I can't give you much advice as to your lap band, Im a gastric sleeve pt, but did want to encourage you to see your physician about it. The nurse mentioned this very thing in my nutrition class they have people drop out from their program because they've gained some weight and too embarrassed to go back. She said please don't let that stop you from coming back. Like the above poster mentioned, they want to help you, not shame you. They've seen it all before. Maybe you could consider a lap band to sleeve revision? There are alot of people in this forum that have had that done that can give advice. Best of luck to you!

20 year firefighter/paramedic here. I was sleeved in October of 2015. I am down about 90 pounds or so. I took 6 weeks off from work, I'm glad I did. I had a hiatal hernia repaired as well, which increased my lifting restrictions from 4 weeks to 6 weeks. I walked alot during those 6 weeks, which helped. But I still struggled for a couple weeks when I went back honestly. It wasn't a lifting thing so much as it was a strength and energy thing. I lost alot of strength and it took a couple weeks of working out to get some of that back. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    Any Medics out there?

I'm a medic. I took the full 6 weeks off, glad I did. Even the first 2 weeks after I went back, I struggled some. It was more of a strength/energy thing more than lifting though. Best of luck to you! Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
  24. So it warmed up enough today to get the old motorcycle out today. I haven't had it out since my surgery in October. I'm down 88 pounds. Forgot about all my gear! I looked totally ridiculous in my chaps, couldn't even fasten them! Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
