Almost 6 weeks post-surgery and STILL learning!
Ryan TN replied to Margie122's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So, was it because you took the vitamins on an empty stomach or was it because of not taking them at a certain time? I'm still pre-op, so just asking to learn. -
Well, I dropped the ball this week. Wanted to go to one of the infosessions today, I thought they were all week, but i was wrong. Yesterday was the last day.

I unfortunately have no advice for you, but I am in a similar situation. My employer is switching from cigna to United at the beginning of the year. We've had cigna for 15 years at least, its all ive ever had there anyways. I have already been through the 4 month diet plan and was approved a couple weeks ago and will be having the sleeve at the end of the month. United is doing meetings this week, i will try to get in one and see what's up with surgery and get back with you.

Hey, i got my date for my surgery, Oct. 28th. I will ask my nutritionist when I have that appointment in a couple weeks, but what can I be stocking up on at this point so that I have some basics already in the pantry? What type of protein drinks? Anything else? Thanks

Never thought of it that way. Thanks for the advice.

Hi, like others, I'm pretty new around here. I think i went to my first step seminar last November, so its been almost a year road for me. I got my surgery date finally today. I am having the sleeve done on Oct. 28th. Here's my concern. My son is graduating from his Army job training sometime in the 2nd week of November, which would be 2 weeks post op. I asked the scheduler I talked to today about this and she said the surgeon likes his patients to be around the area for about 2 weeks post op in case any problems come up. We'll have to travel about 6 hours. For those who've had the sleeve, did you feel up to traveling 2 weeks post op? What about driving? I was pretty embarrassed at the pictures of me when we went to my son's Army basic training graduation, so its kind of a motivation to me to have the surgery before his next graduation. Thoughts about traveling so soon after surgery? I could always reschedule my surgery for sometime in November. Thanks in advance for any advice from those who've been there, done that.

Not to hijack the thread, but for those who have United healthcare, what do you think of it? My employer is going to united after being with cigna for as long as I've been employed here. -
I have cigna, got approval in about a week.

Waiting for surgery date
Ryan TN replied to Missy2new's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My situation is a little different. I just got approved for surgery thru my current insurance company, cigna. However, my employer is going with a new insurance company at the start of the new year. I was a little worried Cigna would deny it since they have to flip the bill but the next insurance company gets the savings when (hopefully) i come off my medicines and have a healthier life. Probably the truth is the person who approves/disapproves is in a corner office no more the wiser of the situation. -
It may help you in this case if you are getting your sleep study done in order for insurance to pay for a sleeve.

Hi all. So this is my first question and first post. Seems insignificant, I've got lots of other questions, but this one came to mind today while i was outside working. I usually will drink a glass of water at a time, especially like today when i was outside. I usually come in every hour or so and drink a full glass, probably 12 to 16 ounces at a time. Will i be able to do that after the sleeve? Just one of many questions, thanks all!

Wow, 15 months post op and you can only do a few ounces, glitter? That actually worries me somewhat. I am a career firefighter and its hard to stay hydrated on scenes, especially fires. we frequently have to "slam" waters and get back at it. Guess its important to stay prehydrated in that case.
