Struggling with pre op shakes - send motivation!

I am day 11 of my pre-op diet. I do understand how you feel. It took about 3 days for the hunger to subside. I think about day 4 I switched over to being in ketosis, which is when weight started dropping. According to my NUT, it's very important to stick with the 2 week plan to shrink fat on your liver and make surgery and recovery faster. I looked at it like my life depended on it! -
So, kind of was wanting a guys perspective on this. I just started my 2 week 800 calorie pre-op diet this week. Still not happy about it. Remember the old hungry man commercials, it's good to be full? Do you get that satisfactory feeling of fullness after the sleeve? I'm certainly not feeling it now on 800 calories a day!

I'm sorry to post up my personal experiences in many threads, but it's all I can accurately speak to....my own experiences. I'll bet you will do great !!!!! No need to apologize, it's understood that we are all a little different and personal experiences is the best advice you could get for free, anyways! Thanks -

This is me. Ive been wondering how well I'll do with water after surgery, which is this wednesday. I'm a big water drinker. Probably 100 ozs a day. At least i have one thing in my favor, with the weather cooling off, it won't be as hot and shouldn't need as much. -
hey michelle, i'm from Kingston, pretty close!

Im from Tennessee as well, but on the "volunteer" side of the state, knoxville area. Having surgery this coming wednesday.

how long to take off work? RN here

Good advice. -
I never really thought about it before until I started this diet 3 days ago. I'm doing ok on it, but I truly miss feeling full. I don't know if that makes sense and if it's kind of a guy thing or what. Just wondering how others felt after surgery.

Im a firefighter, I asked that question at my pre op class, she specifically said nurses and firefighters, 6 weeks. -
I'm still preop, but i just bought some patch vitamins from patchmd.com. Ive heard good things about them, so i thought I'd give it a try. Haven't gotten them yet.

Have you considered the possibility that you are under estimating how much you would've eaten verses now? Reason I ask is what you're describing seems pretty small to me. Im pre op and lets say I made what you said for Breakfast, wich I do pretty regularly, I would've had probably 4-5 ounces of ham, 2 eggs, 1 slice of cheese, and 2 pieces of bread. And I wouldnt have been "stuffed" either. Maybe surgery has changed what you think is alot is actually not? Just wondering.

http://www.dol.gov/dol/topic/health-plans/cobra.htm Some info on COBRA, it's not a separate company, it's more of a right you have as an employee. With that said, you may be better off financially by paying for the surgery itself and going with your new policy for insurance coverage. Just a thought.

I was actually a little worried about cigna paying for my surgery. My employer is switching to united at the first of the year, so cigna is flipping the bill for the surgery and United will be getting the benefits of it in a way. I was a little concerned cigna would deny it, but they didn't.

I have been using PATCHMD since 2 weeks post op. So, roughly a month or so. I have labs drawn mid October and I am very anxious to see if they are absorbing and providing the proper supplements. They are super convenient and 40% off when you use the coupon code PMD40. I will post once I have labs drawn.I only take Iron pill, omeprazole & Biotin orally now. Yes, please let us know how you think they are doing, but, I think it probably takes a little while longer to become Vitamin deficient, I'm guessing. I know my Vitamin D was low and it took me taking it for 3 months to get it back into range. I'm assuming the opposite would be true as well. And 40% off is a great price, I think I'll order me some before that's gone!
-
I also have cigna and like Keke, had no problems once I got my 3 month supervised diet done, it was submitted and I think it was a few days when I got approved.
-
Has anyone looked into or used the patchMD vitamins? Check out their website, looks interesting.

The dizzyness and light headedness could be a sign of dehydration, particularly if it's when standing. Google orthostatic hypotenstion.
-
When I was running and in good shape (obviously not now, otherwise I wouldn't be awaiting surgery), my resting heart rate would be in the 40's.
-
I love my CPAP, well, maybe not love, but I get so much better rest using it. I used to wake up feeling awful, but now I wake up rested.
-
Try to go sleepy, its not the easiest place to get some rest, but its not terrible either. Get up early the morning of, no naps, etc.
