Definitely normal. I was seperated from my ex husband and going thru the divorce when I started my journey. At the time he had left me for a skinny blonde. That was close to 2 years ago. I decided to get healthy for me and my son. He and his new blonde were verbally abusive, called me fat and ugly even in front of my son. I used it as motivation and grew stronger from it. I lost 80lbs pre op. And am down over 150lbs at this point. I'm happier, healthier and now skinnier than him and his blonde who seem miserable. Needless to say they keep their mouths shut now. Karma. Not the reason behind my journey. I did this for me. But yea, it's a bonus and it feels great! Youve got this.

Recently Attractive - From A 2 To An 8 - THE STRUGGLE IS REAL!

You sound exactly like me and how I feel, so I assume it is normal and you are not a horrible freak!!!! The mental changes seem to require so much more work than the physical. I have no real answers on getting over it, I still am struggling with the same. But you are def not alone! -
I highly recommend Slimpressions! They work wonders and are incredibly comfortable. They also have a top that includes arm support which had been a life saver with helping hide all the excess skin!

Beginners Guide to Running for the Obese
treblecutie23 replied to JamieLogical's topic in Fitness & Exercise
No but I did most of my training on an elliptical to be lower impact because I have a ruptured disk in my lower back. :/ -
I've learned to LOVE the riceless rolls! A lot of places will turn things riceless if you ask.

Beginners Guide to Running for the Obese

Finally saw a big loss after 4 days! Down almost 4 lbs from my race weight! Stretching has helped with the sore legs. My one regret was not taping the balls of my feet to prevent blisters. Because these blisters are no joke.....but slowly getting better. -
This morning I finished 13.1 miles and it was AMAZING!!!! Celebrating 145lbs lost so far....I was able to run with my son on Friday in the Disney kids races and then able to finish my half marathon race today! Tough, emotional, painful....but so rewarding. Highly recommend the RunDisney for anyone looking into racing. This was my second attempt at a half marathon. The picture on the left was about 2 years ago and maybe 80/90lbs heavier. I only made it to mile 9 and my body gave out. Still an amazing experience but nothing on what it felt like today crossing that finish line!

Beginners Guide to Running for the Obese
treblecutie23 replied to JamieLogical's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Any tips on weight gain right after a race? I'm assuming it's still a lot off fluids floating around and my muscles are all still definitely inflamed! ((And oh so sore!)) I'm up 2lbs since last week. Nothing crazy. Drinking lots of Water and indulging in a massage this morning. Hoping to see a drop soon....between walking to and from the corrals and the race I logged 17 miles on Sunday! Insane. -

Beginners Guide to Running for the Obese
treblecutie23 replied to JamieLogical's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I finished my half this morning! And felt/still feel great! Albeit a little (okay JK a TON) sore! I had to wake up at 3am to get to the corrals on time. The Quest bars were too heavy I could only manage one bite. I ended up having had a cliff bar that they gave me at race registration and it was perfect. I brought some tiny grahm cracker Snacks and energy chews for the run. I ended up having a handful of graham crackers at mile 5. A cliff energy gel that the race gave us at mile 8....it was amazing. Sat perfectly. I highly recommend them! I had raspberry which tasted great! I tried to have a Gatorade gummy chew at mile 10 but I couldn't handle the consistency and threw them away. I drank at each Water stop. Alternated with Powerade every other time. My mouth was a little dry towards the end but all in all my energy levels stayed up and I was fine. Had a banana and a peanut granola bar Disney provided after the race. Felt a little nauseous after on the bus ride back to the resort but it subsided. My best advice would just be to pace yourselves and keep hydrated!!!! Finishing felt so incredibly amazing!!! Absolutely no regrets! I'm 5 months post op. -
I dealt with this in the past and my podiatrist reccomended sleeping in a stabilizing book to keep my ankle flexed and to do stretching before he'd consider injections. It def helped and I didn't end up needing the injections! I can still see the bone spur on the back of my heel but having lost significant weight it no longer bothers me.

Lived in a bathing suit on vacay and loved it
treblecutie23 replied to QuilterGal's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
This was SO me. My son is 5 and we've always lived no more than 10 mins from the beaches here. It's amazing to be comftorable taking him now and knowing I can keep up! And comftorable rocking a swim suit! My fear preop more so than being in a bathing suit was just whether or not I'd be quick enough to jump up and get to him if a wave knocked him down, ect. Now at 145lbs down we are always at the beach! Congrats and good luck with your journey!!! -
Any music instrumentalists out there?
treblecutie23 replied to Highnoteguy82's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I play clarinet. The main thing I noticed right after surgery was just how fatigued I'd get during rehearsals early on. I'm assuming from lack of calorie intake. My surgery was in November and I just finished up my concert season. It does get better over time but you def have to build your stamina back up and adjust your breathing early on!!!!! Best of luck!!!!! -
What did you bring to the hospital?
treblecutie23 replied to IveGotThePower's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pants were difficult for me the first week or so! I had a lot of pain in the incision areas. I'd reccomend a long tshirt or sleepy shirt/ lounge dress. Good luck!!!!!! -
Beginners Guide to Running for the Obese
treblecutie23 replied to JamieLogical's topic in Fitness & Exercise
So I'm 5 days away from my half marathon and I'm trying to decide what Snacks will work best for me during the run. I bought a variety based off reccomendations to try because I know my kid will finish whatever I can't stand. I can't stand the goo....so I'm hoping the chews work better. My race day plan right now is to start the day with a Quest bar....I don't love them, but they sit really heavy and keep me full for what feels like forever! I'll have to be up at 2am and the race begins at 5am. So it'll get me through the bus ride to the corrals. Was thinking a premier Protein shake to wash that down preface around 4:30am. Then during the race having the gels, nuts and maybe graham crackers on hand to keep me going? I'll be winging it obviously but any advice or reccomendations on keeping fueled would be totally appreciated! -

High Protein Diet vs. Counting Calories?
treblecutie23 replied to carolina07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor and nutritionist wouldn't give calorie goals at all. They said not to get consumed but them but to make healthy choices and be sure to get around 80g of protein daily. I use MFP to log, force of habit at this point....but concentrate mainly on the protein goals and keeping the carbs on the lower end. It makes it less stressful! -
Totally normal!!!! I told my cute anesthesiologist before getting wheeled back. He gave me something extra before bringing me into the OR. lol. Whatever it was it was a life saver and kept me from FREAKING out!

Congratulations!!!!
