How do you take good before photos?
JellyBellyNoMore posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I try not to let ANYONE take my photo. But now I want one to compare to my after. I don't own a swimsuit. Any suggestions for great photo comparisons? My last photo that I took..... -
I am so incredibly disappointed. I have not lost a single pound in 3 weeks. I get all my Protein and fluids in. And I just say NO to carbohydrates. BUT STILL NOTHING. I realize my BMI was lower than others so I am not expecting big numbers every week. But I eat so much better than before surgery, I should have some results! And a new side effect appeared this week, dizziness. I am dizzy all the time. I don't even think it's safe to drive anymore. What have I done to myself?

What have I done to myself?

Thanks for all the feedback everyone. I have my 6 week follow-up on Friday so I can bring up all my concerns. I still have only lost 10 lbs in 6 weeks. I could have done that without surgery. I can't wait to have my doctor weigh in. -

I stay away from carbs because it's the diet that my physician put me on. -
12lbs in first 3 weeks?!? What am I doing wrong?!?
JellyBellyNoMore replied to itstimealready's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Omg this is exactly why I logged on today. I am 4 weeks post op today and I have lost 10 lbs in the first week, and nothing since! I am so frustrated and depressed. I measure and write down everything down to the last carb. Have you found any resolution? I think I may have a meltdown -
Since my doc gave me a "gift", I gave her one too...

Please give me your frosting recipe! I loved making rolled cookies but your icing job is a work of art -
We all have that one song that no matter what, always pumps us up and makes us feel like a boss! What song should play when you enter a room?

Worried I can't do the pre-op diet!
JellyBellyNoMore replied to Castillo15's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My #1 tip, stay busy! Plan something with friends. Walk the neighborhood. Do anything to keep your mind away from food. You can do this! It is worth it! You are worth it! My #2 tip, don't put something in your mouth just to taste it (I did), bad mistake! Pure torture! And I swallowed. -

Things I didn't expect my first month post-op
JellyBellyNoMore replied to SleeveMe247's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1. The itching! No one warned me about the incision itching! (BTW - icepack brings great relief for this) 2. The lack of energy for 2 weeks. Just taking a shower would put me to bed for hours. 3. How difficult it would be to get in all my fluids for the day. -
I drove as soon as I was off pain Meds. I wouldn't drive under the influence

The gas they pump into you to expand your abdominal cavity is removed for the most part. I walked as soon as possible. I never experienced gas pain from surgery. I did experience gas pain when I started eating food and tried my first dairy.

Shakes on a budget

I feel like I have tried them all. My favorite is the chocolate premier. I buy them at Costco. Best part about Costco is that if you don't love them, you can return the rest for refund (as long as more than 50% of product is remaining) -
Sox I felt pretty low myself a few days ago. It really is hard without support! In addition to this whole new world we have to navigate we also have hormones that are going crazy. Oh vey...... But know you are never alone. This is a great community. Remember you are never alone. We are all just a post away.

I needed the gas x once I started on foods. The first 2 days were the worst.

Freaking out/ feeling defeated (4 weeks out)
JellyBellyNoMore replied to Lacfish13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh girl don't freak. Easier said then done I know. My doctor said as long as I am losing 1-3 lbs a week I was doing fine. I too was jumping on the scale constantly. I just made my husband hide it from me this morning. I literally have no idea where it is. I will weigh in again once I hit my 2 month mark. Also my Bariatric mentor told me to get a journal and document my journey. Every month I take body measurements and a picture. It's nice to see the inches decrease when you feel like the scale has stalled. -
What does not having the uncomfortable feeling when eating anymore mean ?
JellyBellyNoMore replied to volsfan82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just told by my doctor this tip.... Measure out something like applesauce. Eat it slowly and mindfully with a baby spoon. Once you feel full stop! Now measure how much you ate. That is the size of your pouch. Now when you go to eat never go above that amount and you won't stretch your pouch. Mine measured 1/4 cup. -
how long is the Gastric Sleeve surgery ?
JellyBellyNoMore replied to boosh10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was in preop for 2 hours, surgery was 2 hours but include hernia repair, and I was in post op for 3 hours. Then I was moved to my own room. It just felt like a nap once I was sedated. I wasn't really coherent until about midnight. -
Did anybody get surgery only letting minimal people know?
JellyBellyNoMore replied to lovelylala's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
At first I was going to hide my surgery from others. But then I felt like I was feeding into the shame and stigma that's associated with the surgery. While I have had some haters (although their protests were super polite "maybe you could just eat like that without surgery", or "have you tried exercise?") for the most part people were pretty supportive. I was also an inspiration to those who were silently thinking about the surgery. Overall I am happy with my decision to share my journey as I found friends and support in people that I didn't expect it from. What a blessing! -
itching and first compliment
JellyBellyNoMore replied to BairwithMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The trick to stop the itch, cold compress. I just grabbed frozen peas from the freezer, wrapped in a dish towel, and placed on the incision site. Then I just enjoyed the relief. Seems like this lasted about a week. -
itching and first compliment
JellyBellyNoMore replied to BairwithMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh the itch! And I itch everywhere! Most of all the incision sites! Neosporin doesn't seem to help, but at least I feel like I'm doing something. -
How long did you wear that girdle waist thingy after surgery?

Puréed food ideas
JellyBellyNoMore replied to Whynotnow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started purée foods 2 days ago. So far I tried fat free refried Beans, and low fat ricotta cheese with Pasta sauce on top. Both were great. Next time I try the cheese I will add some Italian seasoning. It taste like lasagna without the noodles. I also plan on trying laughing cow Swiss cheese wedges Homemade sugar free applesauce And blended Soups -
I was taking gummie said but it hurt my tummy no matter how much I chewed. Guess I will have to try the chalking tabs
