Quick question . I am about six weeks post op now and things have gotten better for me. I am finally over my stall and loosing weight again . Slowly but loosing . However I have come across a new problem that I am worried about . It looks like I am loosing some of my hair . I have pretty thick hair and it is one of the things that people have always complimented me on . Chunks of hair are not falling out but I am shedding . I know this is normal for bariatric patients but I am getting worried . I love my hair !!! My question is , will it get really bad??? Am I going to have bald patches ?? Will it grow back ? Is this a temporary thing? I take my vitamins religiously . Is there something else I should take ??? Help !!

Is there such a thing as to much protein?? I just entered my food log on fitness pal and I hit 120 grams of protein. Is that to much!!! I am four weeks post op. Also sodium... It seems my sodium intake is really high although I am following my NUT plan... Should I be concern about that to?

Alcoholic drinks after surgery
newbie_2025 replied to TeeNahh's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am officially four weeks post op tomorrow and I had my first glass of wine this past Saturday. My doctor told me it was ok so I treated myself to a glass. You will definitely become a light weight . I went from drinking a whole bottle of wine to feeling a little light headed after half of a glass. Some told me here in the forum it was to soon to drink after my surgery but I figured of my doctor told me it was ok i will try it to see how my body reacts. I didn't get sick or anything so that was good news to me. I think you are fine if you are more then two months out. -
Question About My FitnessPal
newbie_2025 replied to newbie_2025's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Ohhhh. Ok .... Thank you -
So I just joined FitnessPal.com. One of my friends recommended it in order to help me get out of my stall. She told me that maybe I am not getting enough protein and this app will tell me exactly how much protein I am getting. Anyways I notice that a lot of people here have joined FitnessPal so I had a question. Does the app give predictions on how much weight u will loose following your food plan? Or do I have to upgrade to premium for that? I use to do food diary.com a few years ago and what I liked about that website is that it would give me a prediction on how much weight I would loose after a certain amount of time. Also is there anyway that I can change the recommended calorie intake? Obviously I cannot eat the recommended 1500 calories that they say I have to eat. Every time I input my food log it tells gives me a warning that I am not eating enough calories. Or is there another bariatric friendly app I can use?

Annoyed but i have to laugh about this ... Has this ever happen before ?

Hello Everyone , So i wanted to share this with my new pals here . I am almost four weeks out and i have been stressing tremondously because i hit a serious stall in my second week . I havent lost any weight for almost two weeks now . I have posted about this several times now . Anyways work has been stressful to so last night my husband took me out on a date night. We went to my favorite resturant and i allowed myself to have my first glass of wine (doctor told me it was ok ). I ordered a small appetizer ( i am on soft foods) and just enjoyed a beautiful pre fall night with my hubby. For the first time i was happy and not stressing about lost pounds since my surgery. I felt like me again !!! Anyways i was only able to eat a few bites from my appetizer and was full. It was amazing to compare what i used to eat to what i was able to eat last night. So when the waitress came and asked us if we needed anything else i told her that no i was actually done. She looked at my half eaten appetizer and gave me a weird look and asked me if i was not happy with the food . I told her the food was delicious but i was full ( which was true). She just gave me a blank stare and walked away . Remember i am only 3 1/2 weeks out so i am still heavy .. I couldnt help but wonder what she was thinking . Today my husband and i ran errands all day so we stopped to grab something to eat. I ordered a small cup of Soup and a small grilled chicken ... shredded. Once again after a few bites a was satisfied and happy . Waitress comes by, my husband asked for the check and the waitress looked down at my food and frowned and asked me if i was not happy with the food or service . Am i going to have to deal with the strange judgemental looks everytime i go out to eat ????? Has anyone gone thru this. Or are any newbies going thru this now that they are slowly joining civilazation again after this major surgery ... -

Weight loss slowing down Weeks 11-13?
newbie_2025 replied to CharlotteKat's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
OMG how did you loose so much so fast ??? Do you think it is the exercise ? I am three weeks and only list 17 and that was mostly only on the first week alone. The liquid stage -
Oh and one more thing . Since I am only three weeks out I haven't really been doing any exercise. I am allowed to go to the gym now. So you guys think if I start exercising that might help me start loose again?

So I have posted here a few times regarding my frustrations of not loosing to much weight after surgery. Some have said I am expecting to much and others have told me that they relate to my frustration. I appreciate every reply and it does make me feel better sharing my story. With that being said I just came back from my 3 week post op appointment and my doctor was slightly concern as to why my weight loss is going slower then usual. I lost 11 pounds during my pre surgery diet and have lost 17 pounds in three weeks. She agreed 17 pounds in three weeks is ok but it slower than usual for her bypass patient. However, if I add the weight that I lost before the surgery then I am right on track which is almost 30 pounds. To me it doesn't make sense to count the weight that I lost before the surgery. What I count is the weight loss after surgery. When do you guys officially count your weight loss. Anyways, I asked her what happens when the surgery doesn't work for those who fall under that very small percentage of "not successful ". She told me that then they proceed to prescribe medication that helps jump start weight lost. Has anyone ever been thru that ? Has anyone struggled to loose every pound or didn't loose all the weight they had hoped for? I know I might be over reacting but I really only lost weight my first week post op when I was on liquids and the last two I have been at a stall. I went over my diet and Water intake with her and she was happy with what I am doing . I am following everything to a T. I see her in three weeks again. By then she expects me to get out of this stall. I am just really concern that I am going to fall in that small percentage in which it doesn't work. When she expressed a little concern of me hitting the stall so soon I got really worried.

Thank you everyone for replying . I was def in that "what was the point of this zone"... But now that I see I am not alone I feel a lot better ...

I am just curious.... Is there anyone in this forum in which the RNY surgery didn't work for them. Meaning not much weight or any weight was lost. I am entering my third on Tuesday and I hit a stall on week two. I haven't lost any weight for a week now even though I have amped my activity levels. Walking more and being more active . Met with nutritionist this past week over concerns of not losing and she told me it was normal. However I am still worried that this might not work because I have been keeping up with protein and water intake as instructed and have been doing moderate exercise and not one pound has been lost. So far I have only lost 17 pounds in three weeks.
